I recently did a major kitchen renovation, and used Dominion Floors for the flooring work. I had used them one time before to install carpet in my basement and had been pleased with the results, so I contacted them again for the kitchen,

The job involved a complete floor replacement in the kitchen and repairs and refinishing of the oak floor in the dining area. Ken from Dominion worked with me and my designer and contractors on every aspect of the job, so they were able to coordinate schedules.

The kitchen floor is new Alterna tile, and the contractor did the floor demo in a day. The tile installer made sure the height of the tile floor perfectly matched that of the wood floor. I was impressed. The tile install took 1 day. Then the repairs and refinishing took about a day and a half. The wood turned out great and matched up perfectly with the wood that runs throughout the rest of the first floor.

All in all, the entire experience was excellent. I can recommend them to anyone, and I will be using them again when it comes time to refinish the rest of the floors.

Where do I begin. I contracted Dominion Floors to do the entire floor renovation for my house: Sanding/staining, Hardwood removal/installation, and carpet installation. They aren??t exactly cheap, but considering they have been around for a while, I thought I was getting industry professionals. Little did I know I??d have no other option but to file a criminal fraud/theft report on a company like this.

Sanding/staining: The work completed was solid. No complaints here. EXCEPT that the workers had a 10 year old kid in the house during the whole process, inhaling those toxic fumes, and making figurines out of our caulking. These creative action figures were left throughout the entire house, to include on top of our new appliances and cabinets. He also decided to play Luke Skywalker with our shower rod, ultimately breaking it. To add to the frustration, they changed the settings on our thermostat and lowered it to 50. So, if you don??t mind your house being a daycare and want a decent sanding/staining job, go ahead and use them.

Carpet installation: The work completed was mediocre. I placed the order for my carpet and was told it was in stock and ready. Two weeks pass and still no carpet. Turns out they forgot to place my order, yet were so quick to take my money. The transitions are more noticeable than I had expected, but carpet is carpet. There were no wrinkles and the job was acceptable. My only complaint here is they cut the baseboards inside our home, despite being asked not to cut wood inside the home. This created a heavy layer of sawdust on the vents and walls. I found it to be extremely rude especially since I was 8 months pregnant at the time.

Hardwood removal/installation: The work completed was mediocre at best. Throughout the whole process I had to stay on top of them to point out flaws and significant gaps between the boards. We even had the manager, Ken, come to our home to look at the issues. The workers were very inconsiderate and would even cut the boards inside our home! Once instructed to stop this practice, they would cut the boards outside but leave the doors open so the sawdust would float in anyway. They then tried to tell me the job was complete with boards and trim missing from the landing step, blaming another contractor. After showing the manager the before and after pictures of their work, they conceded and took another month before they finally came to our home??but blamed a missing piece for not completing the work. They then asked for a goodwill payment for the remaining balance since all was left was a landing step. Despite the fact that their contract stipulates full payment when work is completed, I wanted to be nice and authorized a $3,000 charge and paid with my credit card over the phone. Big mistake. A couple weeks later I still hadn??t heard from them but receive a hit on my credit card for over $900. I contact them the next day to explain the severe fraudulence of this unauthorized transaction, and they were quick to apologize, blaming a third party. Three days pass and I still don??t have the funds back into my account. Ally, another manager, apologized and blamed a power outage in his office for this. So much for the third party lie. He then scheduled the job completion for that same day and asked if it was necessary to reimburse me. Clearly he didn??t get the point. I am not at all surprised, but the crew never came despite making the appointment, and I still have not received the funds back into my account. I cannot believe I have no other option but to file a criminal fraud/theft report on Dominion Floors.

I am not one to write a review, but I felt a responsibility to warn the general public of these weasels. Overall, I would not recommend this company even to my worst enemy.

We researched before using this company. Initial installation was wonderful. We were told we could use the floor immediately but shortly after we started using the floor, I noticed marks, looked more closely and realized the dog's claws were leaving holes in the grout and the installer knew there was a dog. They came back and "fixed" the grout with instructions to keep the dog off it for 6 hours which was fine -- I would have been glad to do this the first time. Afterwards, there were still some "holes" from the initial installation problem -- I think that as the grout fix dried, some holes hadn't been filled and reappeared. When I went to make final payment, I told the receptionist we still had "holes," but there was no offer to make it right, just the taking of our money. I'm pleased with the product and design consultation. I am not pleased with the customer service. I'll probably use them again, but redo is a hassle so I'll be very, very careful about the original installation in the future. Too bad, because I think I'm paying for the customer service too.

We did some serious research on Dominion Floors simply because we heard great things about them, then we looked on the internet and some people where slamming them. We called Dominion and asked for references, they proceded to send us 10 former customers( because we asked for ten) names and phone numbers. All of these references praised them and the work done was from Carpet to Sanding of Hardwood floors. They have a dustless system we found out on our own . We where pleased with the feed back we received and went ahead and had our floors sanded, some wood needed to be replaced and match perfectly to the old . Carpet was from Mohawk and another company called Baymark. Dominion recomended a Microbial Padding that we will never have to change again, this is good news because we have three small boys and two large dogs. We also had Ceramic tile done and a Radiant Heat system under it . All work performed was on time, CLEAN and very affordable. We are very happy customers and are now on there referal list ,so please give us a call we would be happy to talk about our experience with Dominion Floors, and now they also have a store west of Fredericksburg and we will use them when we need flooring at my Mom's house on the Lake.

We chose them because of stellar reviews from Ange's list only to discover the concerns of customers here after the fact. Well, they get the two stars due to messy workmanship (nails poking through the wood, gashes, sloppy finishing, decreased consideration of our property). The floors look nice from a distance but since I felt we were paying a premium price they should look nice close up too.
I would also like to add that only 18 days after completion of the work we received two phone messages on one day threatening to turn us over to a collection agency since we hadn't paid our bill. Never mind that we had been away during that time and hadn't even seen the bill yet. No reason to treat people and property so disrespectfully.

Wow!! What a great company to work with. In these times you would expect ALL companies to work hard ,but they do not. Dominion Floors goes the extra mile plus some and they made our hardwood floors sing. We would like to say that we did some price comparisons and Dominion was not the cheapest to sand and re-finish our oak floors but they also have a Dustless machine that is wonderful. NOT ONE SPEC OF DUST.great company to work with all the way from a free estimate(that was spot on ) to the finished product.Thank you Dominion Floors!!!!!

We had Dominion Floors re-do our original hardwood floors on our first floor, plus add hardwood floors to our kitchen. Initially, the floors looked great. However, we soon noticed that our floors were warping -- we called Dominion and they said it must be a plumbing problem. Nevertheless, we soon discovered that they had cut the water pipe for our refrigerator, causing it to leak between the floor and the floorboard. They tried to "fix" it, but to no avail. We had to disconnect the pipe.

They also tried to fix the warping several times, but it was never perfect.

Finally, the toe baseboards all around the house were never nailed in -- they were just placed in place. A year later, we are still finding loose or missing toe boards. Finally, when staining my floors, they were sloppy and had stained my baseboards which are painted white. I pointed this out to the project manager and he stated that it was my job to repaint the stains, "everyone knows that."

I was very disappointed in their service and treatment of us. I would never do business again with them.
