So much ignorance on here I don't know where to start. First of all to David, you installed your windows incorrectly. Simple as that, windows will not have problems unless they are not plumb/level/square. There are instructions , detailed instructions and next time I suggest you read them, if you say all your windows in your house leaked to the point of rot, next time hire a professional. And to Anonymous Eagle does not make anything Vinyl. Plus Eagle does not install, they have contractors or small businesses that sell their product, these contractors and businesses are the installers please do not bash a product unless you know what you are talking about. We have been selling Eagle for 30 years and they are ONE of the best windows in the market. MARK C. you are 100% correct!!!!! Great post!!!

I have been in the Window business for 15 years. The number one issues with All windows and doors is Installation. Reading the reviews on Eagle Windows I would like to give my expert opinion on the windows. I have never had a window leak because of the manufacturing of the window. I have had many windows leak because of the installation. There are installation instructions on every window manufactured, I usually find them thrown in the floor and never followed. If you hire someone to install your windows make sure they are certified to install windows (not a framer) or at least read the directions and check their work. If a window is installed correctly the manufacture will stand behind them 100%, if not, they can't help you. The pictures posted of the Eagle windows with the rot issues clearly shows there were no water barrier placed on the nailing flange or drip cap on the top of the window to keep water out. As that person noted it took $30K to fix an issue that would have cost about $1K to do it correctly in the first place.

I note in an earlier blog that Eagle is now Anderson. My windows were installed by Eagle and they are apparently out of business now. Did someone take over their business? Does anyone know how to reach them?

Don't buy Eagle windows if you plan to live in your home past Eagle's warranty period.

I made the mistake of purchasing Eagle Windows for my new home 20 years ago. One day about two years ago one of the flower boxes below one of our largest windows on the front of our home simple fell off the house!

Upon inspection, I discovered that the window had been leaking each time it rained, just enough to create dry rot in the frame below the window between the exterior and interior walls.

Not only did I have to replace that window and the entire wall below it, I had to replace all 30 windows in my house because all of them had the same problem. Unfortunately we had sealed the exterior and the interior walls of the house so well that we never realized what was happening inside the wall, most likely from the day we installed them.

That's our bad according to Eagle (now Anderson) Windows. They say they would have replaced them if we had discovered the problem earlier (within their 10 year warranty period).

$30,000 later I have all new windows and siding, but I would NEVER purchase Eagle Windows again.

We had an excellent experience with Eagle Window Home Improvement. This summer we had all the original windows in our home replaced in order to become more energy efficient. The owner of Eagle Window was top notch and spent much time with us helping us to make the right decisions. We also met with other vendors and by far Eagle offered the best customer service. The installation was professional and high quality and the price was reasonable and well-explained. I am not sure who the "Anonymous" comment is from on this web site but clearly, we had an excellent experience so they must be talking about a completely different vendor. We are recommending Eagle to all our neighbors.

I believe the work done my house by Eagle Windows actually ended upa liability. Although the windows themselves are excellent (and they claimed to be the only company in town to sell casements 32" wide) the installation was beyond shoddy. The ops of the vinyl covering was not caulked. The vinyl does not sit flush to the sill. The new sills are not raked away from the house (in fact, the water pools toward the window, the one that does not hold water. The interior was left unfinished -- no sanding, cracks in the wall. Eagle contracted with a family to do the work, but Eagle approved it, and cared very little that my house had been damaged.
