Wow, I just read all of the other reviews and feel bad. They must be listening because I called to get the trash can replaced because the guys who pick it up have cracked it enough times that it really needs to be replaced.

I called, I think she said her name was Jan, but when I called she was so really nice about it, it didn't take very long and she was very pleasant to me on the phone. So, it seems like they must have been working on their customer service or the last 2 years I guess.

I started with AAA about 4 months ago. So far my impression of them is absolutely terrible. I was told a nice HOA price on the phone and signed a contract for it (which was filled with typos and mis-dated). I had to send it and call several times for them to acknowledge receipt. Then they didn't deliver my cans when promised. Several calls later and a more than a week went by before they mysteriously turned up one day. Even though in my area I can have 5 bags of trash in addition to the can for pick-up, the local driver has been increasingly intransigent about picking up anything but what's in the can. After this happening many times in a row, I called to complain and have been told that "they're going to pick it up tomorrow." Yeah, we'll see. Meanwhile, my first bill was filled with inflated costs and random fees that quadrupled my contracted rate. Obviously I called to dispute it. After three months of refusing to pay any of their illegitimate claims, they referred me to collections after multiple threats of doing so. I still did not pay and they finally got the message. They dropped my bill to the agreed upon rate and billed me for the next quarter at the agreed upon rate - which I paid immediately. I'm doing my part AAA... try conducting your business with a modicum of decency and meet me half way, will ya?

If there's another trash service, use them. A lot of this negative feedback is true. This company's leader feels entitled to make their own rules and then enforce them on innocent people. Disgusting!
My situation: moved into this home and continued previous home-owners service (w/AAA) with previous owners trash cans.
This is more energy that I??d like to spend on a $39 fee but it??s the principle of the matter that concerns me. AAA/Republic never requested I sign a contract and never even mentioned or directed me to "their" service agreement. Now they??re threating me with collections because I cancelled and refuse to pay their cancellation fee (trash-can recycling fee).
I??ve submitted a complaint with the BBB and all AAA/Republic did was reply to me by cutting and pasting their policies then escalated their threats with a ??Letter of Intent? to send to collections.
I??ll be contacting the FAIRFAX COUNTY CONSUMER PROTECTION COMMISSION @ http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/consumer/consumer_protection_comm.htm

We are having the same problem with AAA as the original poster.

We were long-time AAA customers, but were planning to switch to American, which cost half as much. My husband was coming in the house with the groceries and the kids, when a representative from AAA caught him at the front door. The representative said we needed new bins, and asked my husband to sign for them, which he did. My husband asked the rep if he was committing himself to anything, and was assured by the rep (Henry V) that he was not.

We later learned he'd signed a contract for three years of service at our existing high rates. (That rate was a floor, the ceiling was unspecified.) There's a name for obtaining a contract using deception, which is Fraudulent Inducement. It voids the validity of the contract.

We only discovered the existence of this 'contract' when we switched companies six weeks later. I called to cancel, and they turned us over to a collection agency. I am less than pleased with them.

It's not the high rates or the surly customer service that bothers me, it's the use of fraud and extortion as routine business practices.

Something you might want to try - Fairfax County's County Consumer Protection has 63 complaints against AAA. Consumer Protection resolved most of the complaints against AAA in favor of the consumer.

STAY AWAY!!! They have to trick customers into using their service.
Like another review, I had this trash removal company many years ago and switched to American because I was extremely unhappy with their service, attitude and prices. I recently signed with AAA again, which was a huge mistake. I made this mistake when a sales person came to my door explaining that a new trash company is in the area, Republic. I did not know Republic was AAA. After I agreed to try out the new company did the sales person clarify that it was actually AAA. She said that the company knew that they had a bad reputation, so they are offering better prices to bring customers back. I specifically asked if there was any type of obligation and she told me no and that I could cancel at any time. I know that I should have read the contract thoroughly before continuing, but she caught me on my way out the door. This was a mistake I will never make again!
I signed the contract mid March, my new service was to begin April 1. When I called the trash company I had to cancel, they were able to match the price and so I decided that there was no way that I was going to proceed with AAA. I sent an e-mail to AAA to have a record of the cancelation since the last time I canceled their service they kept billing me. The response I received is that they do not accept written cancelations and I must call them. This is when the girl I talked to informed me that although I am already not happy with the service of AAA, she told me that I should have read the ??small writing on the bottom of the contract.? She informed me that I could only have canceled the contract within 3 days of signing and if I wanted to cancel now, I would have to pay out the contract of 3 years, starting with $54 a quarter for the first year, etc. This is a horrible way of trying to regain a positive reputation. They have to resort to trickery to obtain customers. So apparently now, no matter how lousy they are, I am stuck paying for subpar service.

Three stars only because I am new customer now. I had this trash removal company many years ago and dropped them for American, another independent company working in Fairfax County. American is a good trash company, although I found their billing system unreliable. In 08/2011 when given the opportunity, I accepted a free month, plus a monthly discount for eighteen months, to sign with AAA. Obviously they are trying to take business from American. According to the salesman, AAA was acquired by Republic Services which seems to be true. Republic is a national company, that should be able to bring first rate service to patrons here in Fairfax County. I received two new cans within a few days of signing up and so far my only scheduled collection was made on time. I certainly hope and expect that to continue, but also am not so dumb as to not expect that in eighteen months my monthly rate will go up when the promotion is finished. By the way, Republic is a publicly owned company and the second largest non-hazardous waste disposal company in the United States. Their revenue in 2010 was over $8 billion and they have 32,000 plus employees. I checked all this before writing my review.(http://www.republicservices.com)

This is one of the WORST companies I HAVE EVER dealt with! Their customer service is substandard. And they will continue to bill you even after you have cancelled and they picked up your cans! When you call to get the situation corrected, they tell you there is no "work order" and then act very rude to you when you ask for a supervisor. If you get a rep named Martha- hang up! She is the worst of the bunch!

been with aaa and their predecessors for 30+ years. always ok if not great up until republic bought them. service declined. rates kept going up. mystery fees other companies dont charge showed up. stayed with them until they went three weeks without picking up and slapped another big fee increase on my bill. switched to american asap. american has been very good so far.

now aaa is billing me for $31 but wont tell me why. tried to call them got voicemail jail. wrote them. only response is another computer bill threatening to turn it over to a collection agency. good luck with that aaa!

i am writing the states attoryney general for virginia kentucky and arizona where aaa aaa/republic and republic is located. also writing ffx co consumer protection. if i hear from these aaa schmucks again i will escalate to bbb and any other web rating source i can find. attention aaa: i have two words for you and your collection agency that i can't print here but they start with f and u .

AAA Recycling cares nothing about its longtime customers and failed to resolve a minor dispute which has caused me to cancel my service of over 20 years. When I moved last year I cancelled my service at my former residence and initiated service with AAA at my new home a couple of blocks away. AAA claims I never cancelled the old service and sent me a bill for the cost of trash pickup at the former location. I made a number of calls AAA to get the matter resolved without success. AAA recently sent the bill to a collection agency even though I have tried to discuss this with a supervisor but only receive his voicemail and never received the courtesy of a return call. You would think AAA would want to retain a longtime customer but this is obviously not the case. DO NOT USE THE COMPANY!

this company is outrageous. They exploit their employees because many of them are here on a work visa. Management doesn't care if you get sick or not, just get to work and pick up the trash. Go to American. You can get serviced picked up for cheaper.

AAA has an unblemished record with me (after almost 30 years). They have never missed one pickup. I would not change to another company under any circumstances! AAA is g-r-e-a-t!!!!! (If it's of any interest, my pickup dates are Tuesday and Friday--early!)

In my opinion AAA Trash and Recycling is the BEST! I have used them for decades! If an animal gets in my trash, AAA picks it all up by hand. Their customer service is the best. I always get my questions answered promptly and courteously. No way would I change to another trash service. Keep up the good work AAA!

They constantly miss pickups for 15 years now I am missed at least once or twice a month, almost always Fridays( I think they go home early and just do not do our neighborhood). They do always credit my account for missed pickups you have to call Friday or early Monday to get the credit, when you get a real person, you cannot leave a message on saturday. I also find I get great resuolts by sending multiple emails to them. I just wish they were consistant in a good way. If you are firm in what you want with out yelling or cursing you can get a supervisor on the phone who will make changes. You just need to keep after them and yes you should not have to, they should do theor job. I have found the managers are sheltered form the dispatchers and phone people so until you speak to one yourself they do not get the maessage. I even had a supervisor come out in a pick up with the driver to get trash that was missed twice in one week. You get more flies with sugar than vinegar. IT IS SO SAD WE HAVE TO HAVE THIS FORUM, aaa PLEASE JUST DO YOUR JOB. Thise giving positive remarks must either work their, be foirends of those who work their or perhaps live next door to the place so it is uber convenient to pick up their trash. I stay because the only other service in my area gave me a lawn job more than once, threw trash all over my yard and ran into my cans damaging them and would not replace them. They are the lesser of two evils. Were that not the case they would I am sure be out of business

I am a property manager of a Townhome complex in Fairfax Va, and We have been AAA customer for a long time.
In the last 3 years, AAA has increased o their poor and careless service several times, their claim is always the same: gas cost and employees and others.
As a customer, I had tried hard to communicate with the account manager who handles the Association I represent, and every time I called, the person behind the line keeps sending my call any where else but the account manager I requested for.
It seems to me that: AAA does not have enough employees to handle their business. I strongly believe that, Once a Company grows large/big, it turns into a MONSTER, impossible to manage, and CUSTOMER CARE IS COMPROMISED.
Question: Will I renew the contract???
REMEMBER; THE COMPETITION IS ON THE STREETS.

Surprised at all the negative comments, but I guess angry people are more inclined to write reviews. I have had nothing but good experiences with AAA, starting with my discovery that I had been getting service for 2.5 years for free - I thought it was included in my HOA fees (as erroneously indicated by the MLS sheet on the property.) When I found out and called them up, they were so surprised that they charged me only $100 for the prior service, then gave me the best price of any of my neighbors to continue service. AAA picks up anything and everything I put out, and just today, as promised, delivered me a second recycle bin to replace the one blown away with last Tuesday's high winds. Yeah, they are a bit pricey compared to American, but the American salesperson who canvassed our neighborhood was incredibly rude when we told him we were happy with AAA. I won't do business with that type of people. The AAA person I talked to about my missing recycling bin was very courteous by comparison.

After doing business with AAA for 25 years, I was told by a neighbor that they offer a Senior Citizens' discount. When I received the next bill, I called them and asked about it. I was told that if I signed and returned a one-year contract by July 1, I would receive the discount. Two days later I received the contract, signed it, and immediately returned it with the designated amount. On Monday this week I thought it odd that our trash wasn't picked up, but since there was a cardboard box and a few small boards in it I thought maybe that wasn't acceptable. Today (August 31) I received in the mail a very nasty SERVICE INTERRUPTION notice that service had been cut off because of past due indebtedness of $29. Now, wouldn't you think that even if I did have a balance due they would have had the courtesy to send a reminder BEFORE they cancelled service? I'll be on the phone in the morning but am steaming tonight. I'm glad they have competition now because I will be switching companies.

Got my invoice from AAA Recycling for trash service for the next 3 months,Sept.,Oct.&Nov. Another bill increase. Bill is now $123.12 per quarter. American is charging $69.00 for 3 months. I just got off the phone with AAA Recycling. Told them I wanted to cancel my service. The C/S rep wanted to know why. I said I was going with another trash service. The C/S rep said he would have to cancel me today. I said fine. No, how can we keep you; were you unhappy with the service; Sorry to see you leave us. Nothing! The C/S rep could care less. I was kinda amazed with the total lack of concern that they were losing a customer. I moved into my home in Pimmit Hills back in 1995 and had been a customer of theirs all this time, 15 years. I was kinda of hesitant to go with another trash company. Like I said, no complaints about the trash service. They need to fix their C/S dept. They could learn something from their trash drivers. There is more to customer service than just showing up and picking up the trash. Courtesy & customer appreciation go along way with me and I am willing to spend a few extra bucks of my Hard Earned Money to get it. Something is really wrong with AAA. After that phone call, I am pretty sure I made the right decision. AAA helped to make it that much easier to leave by not caring one way or the other.

yes i know aaa has rude peope but most are nice. They have awsome trucks and equipment and always come on time. once in december they missed recycling collection but came back next week. if they dont collect your trash 9 out of ten times a trash collector doesnt take everything or anything is either because there is to much or isnt acceptable. just because you dont want it anymore dosent me you are allowed to put it in the trash. so take my advice and STOP COMPLAINING. also AAA is owned and operated by Republic Waste Services. so dont think or wish aaa can go out of business because republic is the second largest Waste and recycling company in the U.S. and if they missed your collection during any big snow storm times then maybe your street wasnt plowed or cleared enough. if thats the case due to safety they wont collect your trash

I have requested a new trash container (AAA broke ours) 4 weeks ago and have not received one yet. Our neighbor got one after a week because they were new customers. We are going to change to CSI, they are cheaper anyway. Customer service is the worst I have ever encountered.

I am shocked to see so many totally negative comments about AAA. I have used this company since moving to Ffx County 25 yrs ago. I have absolutely ZERO complaints. The trash and recycling are picked up on the scheduled days, they take the extra garden and yard waste in other containers or bundled up. Friends told me about the "senior citizens" rate, so I called AAA and promply had my monthly fee reduced to $33 a month. The drivers are very curteous and I reward them every year with a generous "Holiday Thank You"-
perhaps the secret to such excellent service I get throughout the year!!

I can verify nearly ALL of the complaints listed here about this lousy company. Yes, they are rude. Yes, they charge you undocumented fees when you leave them - $25 in my case; so, I guess I got away from them cheaper than most. Don't use this company. IF you are using them, go through the minor hassle to LEAVE THEM. They don't deserve to be in business.

Worst company, don??t do the business with. I canceled the service, and called them many times in a month to pickup the trash bin and they didn??t. Always get the different answer each time. The customer service told me, even though they didn??t pick the bin up, they will try again, but the customer responsible for it. So, right now I will move out of the home soon, don??t know when AAA picks the bin, and potentially pay $100 for it. I think it is the scheme from AAA to collect additional $100 from their customer. I will file complain to BBB and Fairfax county.

I cancelled my services with AAA Trash after a year of service and switched over to American. American was 50% cheaper.

I've been trying to return AAA's bins to them but so far, they still haven't picked it up. It's been 3 weeks now, and the customer service rep I spoke to on the phone today was HORRIBLY rude. He told me that they "might" get to me today; if not, they "might" pick up the bins next week. I keep getting this answer every week when I call after Monday comes and goes and my bins are still there. My husband is sick of having to lug the stupid bin back and forth every week.

Now I read from their website that if they don't recover their bins, I'll be charged $100, and even if they DO recover their bins, there'll be a $45 "reconditioning fee." I hope everyone who has AAA Trash reads these reviews and cancels their services, just so this unethical, HORRENDOUS company goes out of business >:-(

Over 10 years with AAA, but continued pricing changes and added fees made me finally stop the service in December 2009. They advised me of a $25 "cleaning fee" which is really just a last money grab as you go out the door. After my commitment to end the service, they missed five pick-ups in the December snow -- no rebates.

After several dunning letters about my refusal to pay the $25 fee which was never agreed to, I went to the county Consumer group. They advised that AAA had met the legal requirement to notify customers of the fee several years ago, and there was nothing the county folks could could do for me.

I followed up with Charlie Forbes, Dep Director Division of Solid Waste. He described a long history of service and billing complaints, but the bottom line was -- the legal squares were filled, and he couldn't help either.

Bottom line is that the only recourse seems to be to use the web to let people know what a shabby and unreliable company this is. My advice -- avoid AAA like the plague!!

I can not even begin to tell you how terrible AAA Trash is!! Any time you call their office the person answering the phone has an attitude. I have left messages for supervisors that NEVER get returned and you can't hold for one. I cancelled my trash service because their fees keep going up on top of having all their ridiculous junk fees added on. I was told my cans would be picked up on Wednesday, Thursday at the latest. They did not...called, oh it takes 2 weeks sometimes to pick them up. So what I have to haul them back in and out every week. Get an automated call to put them out again on Wednesday.....guess what they are still out there!! I am no longer responsible for them at this point. AAA is the most expensive and the worst customer service. I will be telling everyone on my street that they can save alot with another company!!

AAA is the worst company to work with. I reported them to the county. I would urge everyone who has trouble with AAA or any other trash collection service in FFX co. to do the same. Here's the contact info:

Disposal and Resource Recovery
Fairfax County Solid Waste Management Program

Very unethical company! Beware of termination-of-service scams. I cancelled my service, placed my receptacles out for return on the date advised by AAA, and they were collected. However, AAA later charged me a $100 fee for allegedly failing to place my receptacles out for collection, claiming the receptacles were not received.

company I have ever dealt. First after numerous calls they did not pick up my trash for weeks. Then wanted to charge me because I had too much trash. I finally cancelled and today receive a threatening bill saying I owe money when I had never received a bill from them Now that I have read the other comments I wish I had looked first. I switched to American and they are great.

Just switched to NGT service in Alexandria--So pleased with their service and courtesy. After years of failed service, extra charges, I tried to get some adjustment of billing. They are instructed to treat customers abusively I think. So discourteous.
Years of picking up trash they dropped onto the street. Now, they have assessed their famous "cancellation fee!" I filed a complaint with BBB, but have received no communication from the company. Terrible abuse of customers and very bad service.

We've had AAA for six and a half years in the Lorton area. What really galls me is that they do not prorate the next bill for missed pickups. AAA missed four pickups during the big blizzard of early February and three over the Xmas-new year's holidays. For the former, I completely understand, since we were out of power for three days and the street was unpassable for six. However, I paid for two trash pickups and one recycling pickup per week. They know they missed them before new bills went out, but nary a penny was removed for lack of contract fulfilment on their part. I should NOT have to pay for missed pickups for whatever reason, including circumstances beyond everyone's control. Anyone know of a reputable company who does twice-a-week pickup on Mason Neck?

These guys are relentless extortionists! I had AAA's service for years and years but canceled in June (after yet another bogus new fee was added to my bill). I canceled before the start of the next quarter. They still prorated my refund (only paid back a portion) and charged me a $25 return fee for my receptacle. Like many others, I never agreed to pay a fee to end my service. I disputed the fee and unreturned portion of my payment with my credit card company so I got my money back right? Not so easy!

In early December, I received a bill from them, postmarked 12/4/2009, with a due date of 12/3/2009. In other words they sent the bill to me after it was already over due, a tactic I suspect that is set up to allow them to report me to a credit agency even sooner. I called their customer service and the rep stated that they never waive the fee. He added that the only way out of the fee is to file a small claims suit but that costs $50 so most customers just pay the fee.

So in a nutshell:

1. They make up a fee to charge you for canceling your service, whether you agreed to it or not. You only find out when you cancel.

2. They won't waive the fee under any circumstances.

3. If you don't pay it they will report you to a credit agency.

4. They rely on the fact that most people won't pay $50 and go through the trouble of filing a suit.

I've never even considered a law suit, and certainly not a class action suit, but I'm already researching it. Somebody's got to do something about this - it's just not right!

I just moved to the area, and I've only been signed up for about a month and a half with AAA. There was only 1 pick up only during the first two weeks, and spotty service throughout the first month. I can chalk all of that up to being a new customer, since in the past 2 weeks, it's been pretty reliable, although I had to call 4 days in a row about a missed recycling pick-up. Everyone I talked to on the staff during my many calls so far, although not all very knowledgeable, all seemed to be very nice and polite.

My true complaint is with their alleged "supervisor" named Moya (spelling?). I imagine she gets a lot of pretty irrate customers calling her, and I was careful with my tone not to be mean or anything. When I finally got through to her, I guess I was really just looking for someone to explain my story to and I hoped for a nice generic apology. Instead, she went on the defensive immediately and used an accusatory tone as if I was to blame for everything and she never apologized once. I pointed out politely that she needed to improve her customer service skills, and this did not improve the direction of the call at all. I'm sure there is nothing to be done about this, but I thought I'd share. She is not the lady you want to be talking to when you call AAA - don't ask for a manager, I would advise to just keep calling back until you reach a staff person who can actually help you.

I've had AAA for 12 years, and the service has been good. But the price is not, currently at $139/ quarter. American offered a $69/ quarter price, good for a year, which I considered, but decided to call AAA to see if they could match that. They did, so I decided to stick with them for now. Love that competition!

I entered into an oral contract w/ AAA trash in July 2006. AAA trash told me what the service fee per month would be and also told me there were some other monthly fees. I agreed to the terms they quoted since they were the only trash company serving my area. At the end of the phone call I asked if I would receive a written contract in the mail and they told me "no." I cancelled service 1.5 years later and they tried to bill me a $45.00 "container reconditioning fee" that I never agreed to. I didn't pay it based on the fact I didn't agree to it in my oral contract with them. AAA replied by citing a bogus Fairfax County ordinance they claim gave them the right to unilateraly change the contract terms by sending out a periodic "Service Standards" flyer. After looking at the statute, I found it did no such thing. I told them their response was B.S. AAA turned the matter over to a collection agency. I sent AAA and their collection agency a letter telling them they actually owed me money because I cancelled service one day prior to the quarter ending (I previously pre-paid for the entire quarter). Thus, AAA needed to send me $1.24. AAA continued with their B.S. assertion that I owed them a container reconditioning fee minus the credit on my account. I sent a demand letter and AAA did not reply. So, I filed a case for breach of contract (warrant in debt) in small claims. AAA didn't show up so I received a default judgment for $1.24 plus court costs against them. Bottom line is that people do not need to submit to these unfair/fraudulent business practices that AAA engages in. If you are going to cancel trash w/ AAA then it serves well to have a credit on the account. That gives a person a way through the court door to collect that amount and obtain a judgement to demonstrate to anybody who matters that no valid debt is owed to AAA after service cancellation. That judgement can be produced to anybody who matters (i.e. collection agencies, credit bureaus, etc). Small claims is no big deal either. It is a Judge Judy type forum where you show up, bring your evidence, and tell your story.

I will clear up something??s that you Rober G. or anyone else did not understand

1. The $45 container pick up (reconditioning) fee is a charge that they tried to charge me back in 2008 when I stopped service with them. Now I see they charge $25. I joined in the mid 90??s and no fee existed back then so they waived the charge for me after I complained.
2. It is inexcusable to have to wait 3 weeks or more for them to retrieve their containers. People have HOA??s and cannot leave their trash can out 24 hours a day for weeks at a time. It becomes very inconvenient to have to wheel your trash can day and night and for weeks at end until they decide when to come and get it. An easy solution would be is to give a date as to when they plan to retrieve their containers.
3. As for missed pickups my experience has been different. I would call and they promise to pick it up that day or the next. It never happened. I always had to wait for the next trash day. This didn??t happen often so I don??t hold it against them.
5. My main reason for leaving was every year there was a price increase plus extra supplement fees such as gas fee, fall yard fee etc?... You said their price is $25.00 or more a quarter (read the quote below the fee difference is $160 a year according to someone else). Reason 2 was the 4 days a week of hauling containers to the curb. Monday??s and Thursday??s were trash days; Wednesday??s are yard stuff and Friday??s recyclables. That was way too many trips to the curb for me. My current trash company only has 3 days a week. So call me lazy if you would like to. Reason 3 was that their pick up time was between 6am and 6:30am. To add to it they always would crush the trash in the truck right in front of my house. I know it wasn??t out of spite it was just the timing but I didn??t appreciate enduring it every trash pickup day.
6. You talk about the Service of Standards. Have you ever consider that not everyone had gotten it. I kept every correspondence I received from AAA from 2000 until I left in 2008 and never recalled receiving any such document. A lot of what I had showed all their price increases and added extra fees throughout the years. The reason for keeping all of this was back in 2000 is when their services started to go downhill. I also talked to a manager who also addressed his concern for the huge increase in complaints over the years that they were receiving. He said they were working hard to improve their services and address their customer??s complaints.
7. You go on to say the information here is incorrect and I find your statement to be invalid. This is a forum to address the positive and negatives you might have about a company. Just because you have not had the same experiences as everyone else doesn't necessary make what others say incorrect.
8. In the end I suggest everyone do your homework. Talk to you neighbors. Don??t be afraid to ask what they are paying. I found out that not everyone is paying the same price. Example I was paying $77.00 quarterly for AAA at the time and my new neighbor called them and got a quote of $118. After hearing what I pay they called back and got a lower price. There is one good thing about AAA is that they will match the price of their competitors for a year after that it keeps going back up. Below is a quote from another more recent unsatisfied customer. I see they lowered their return fee!

Cancel Service and they charge $25 to pick...?? - Hank?? - Aug 6, 2009

I called to have my service canceled since American was $160 cheaper for a year. I was informed that there is a fee of $25 to have the road side containers returned and cleaned. I find this outrageous, they constantly are raising rates and now I get hit with a return fee, plus it takes 6-8 weeks to get refunded what I already paid.

#1 The reconditioning fee is 25.00, not 45.00 like the last person said. So im a little confused about her info and where she got it from.

#2 The fee doesnt seem to be able to be removed under any circumstances. I asked about it and went fairly high up the chain of command and i got the same answer across the board.

#3 The good news about the fee is the fact that they do replace your containers for free if they ever break or are stolen. I have read about some companies who charge 25.00 per container that is missing or broken.

#4 For some reason it does take up to three weeks to have containers exchanged/removed. Dont know what the deal is with that.

#5 Seems their price is only 25.00 or so more than the next biggest company over a quarter. This is about 8.33 a month, not a difference to make a huge fuss about.

#6 My service has been fine. Not sure what im hearing about on this site. I have been missed here and there, and with a call they come out and get it that day or the following day. Had a company in another state (im military) that made you wait until the next normal pickup day.

#7 Alot of the info here is incorrect. Read the "Service Standards" that are mailed out every so often and it can explain alot of the issues on here.

#8 Where the hell is this "Mrs. Moia"?!? I await your answer.

All in all im fairly ok with the service. Customer suppost is polite, the pickups are consistent, and the charge isnt that far off of other companies for the most part.

I started my service with them in the mid 90's. I am now with NGT and very happy with them. I left because of all the surcharges they kept adding on. You would think that your quarterly payment would cover everything. Getting a hold of someone there is worse than pulling teeth. They did try to charge me that $45 fee but I refused because that agreement did not exist when I first joined them. I also told them unless they had something I signed agreeing to those charges than don't expect me to pay them. The fee got waived. I also told them that I will start charging a storage fee if they did not pick up their bins by a certain date since I already had them sitting at the curb for 3 weeks. They finally pick them up within days after that call. Also for those who remain and need a replacement trash can forget it. I waited three weeks and finally decided to go get it myself which is clear across the other side of the county for me. They told me they did not have any trash cans available. So I said if I don't get a trash now than they can cancel my service. Guess what came rolling out of their warehouse?

We have had AAA service for three years and have been nickeled and dimed to death with "surcharges." We received an in-person quote at HALF the quarterly price from American! I called to cancel AAA service. The man was abrupt and rude. Did not even ask why we were cancelling, just told me to have the cans at the curb "for the next two or three" Fridays and they would be picked up. How convenient is that? GOOD BYE AAA!!!!

I just received a 2nd bill for the next quarter and informed you on the last notice which I mailed to you that I have switched Trash Removal Companies because of the upward spiraling costs at AAA.
Please remove me from your files. Ed C.

Kinda funny, I can't get on the website for AAA to check on their yard waste guidelines, but no problem getting into this site to see the complains. I've had the same problems with them. It took three weeks of me calling to get them to pick up on a regular basis when I first started. Some things they won't even take, never had a company so picky. Also seems like something must fall out of the truck every time they come. Something is always left on the street in front of my house and it wasn't in my can, chocolate milk container, top of a pepper jar and peppers all over. Can't wait to get rid of them!

Just got home and once again found the bin half way down the street, turned over. Most of the time is left in the middle of the road in front of someone else's yard. And, what did I get in the mail but an URGENT note saying that they are upping the MONTHLY fee by $2.10. I am canceling and will tell them I am not paying a red cent for so called stopping services. What services? Did any of you who wrote reviews before win your cases against the $45. fee???? We need to group against these thieves!!!!
