We were thrilled by quality care received at this clinic. Received lab results within minutes,so we were able to immediately start our cat on the right treatment. All necessary work-ups were done at this state of the art clinic so Muffin was back home in a day, happy and purring again.
After a thorough explanation of treatment options and expenses we were able to pick out what was the best for our Muffin and us. No surprises with the final bill, as everything was agreed upon before starting treatment.

Very personable, tailored, high quality care, no smells, no dogs, no stress neither for us nor for Muffin.

Caring Vet and really nice person, but we were charged a great deal more than we expected and really what was warranted. No discussion of price took place so it was a shock, we are partly to blame, but for non emergency care the prices charged are pretty obscene.
If I had expendable income this is definitely the place that we would bring our Kitty, but for a family struggling in this economy it is not a place to go for routine care.
I do love the fact that this place does not smell like a typical Veterinary Clinic and Dr. K is a very pleasant and caring Vet.
On the plus side he is open 247 and is very accommodating. We just could not afford to spend the extra money, but for the next few months we will definitely do without because of our last visit.

This "caring" vet wanted $150 to give my cat a rabies shot. When I said I thought his quote was obscene. He responded, "You're obscene". It was obvious to me that he knows he's trying to scam you out of your money!

So, if you want to throw your money away for routine vet services then "Dr K." is your vet.

I recommend Occoquan Animal Hospital (really in Woodbridge on Route 1) - they were the only vet I contacted that didn't try to force unnecessary services on my pet and they don't require an appointment - they will see you the same day and not charge outrageous "emergency" service fees. You can call first and see what the wait time might be for the day.

Also, Petco has very affordable rabies shot clinics every other Saturday for $15.00.

I agree about the expense part of this vet. He seems like a very good vet, but his prices are way over inflated. My statement shows the same price listed for each medication. I know there's a markup, but not the same amount for each medication.

I had to take my cat in because of a stomach problem. He wanted to do x-rays, but I decided to wait to see how the medication would work. He charged for a test that wasn't even conducted yet. This could have been asked before charging. The bill was over $500. I expected perhaps a little over $100 or up to $200 for the minor services performed.

As was said, I wouldn't recommend if you're looking for a reasonably-priced vet. If money is not an object, I would give a much higher rating. I think his pricing plan should have been introduced before performing all of his duties. The bill was a shocker.

No wonder there's no receptionist and no customers. I was there twice in two days and no customers. You have to ring the doorbell to get in because the doctor is not around. No business to me means the prices have chased them all away.

Dr. K single handedly saved our cats. My Cat Alex got a hold of what was later discovered as toxins. Dr. K rushed to the hospital on a Sunday and saved my cat which was previously near death. Dr. K offers top quality services at an affordable price. I will never see another veterinarian because my cat deserves the best. Dr. K is affordable, and a life saver.

If you have an emergency, if you want a vet who is available to treat your cat immediately, or a vet who will invest extra time and effort in your cat's teatment, or if money is no object, this could be the vet for you.

If you are concerned with cost, and want to get your cat treated for a reasonable fee, please make sure you get a second opinion elsewhere before agreeing to treatment here.

I found this vet to charge double or more than other local vets for the same treatment, and to recommend treatment that other vets did not agree was necessary or effective.

Ask if there are any further costs that will be charged at a later date in association with any treatment you commit to. We found a hidden $210.

After a few months in our home, our kittens became listless and began hiding from us. We took them to our regular vet several times over those months, but he could find nothing wrong with them and said they were fine. When we moved, we needed to board the kitties for a month while our house was being prepared. We found Dr. K and boy are we glad we did! I told him about the kittens' mood change and described their behavior. Dr. K knew immediately what to look for -- a parasite that is very common in rescued cats (we adopted the cats from a rescue league). He took the time to test their feces regularly, finding the parasite. He treated them and they immediately began to get better. They've been healthy ever since. Dr. K really knows his medicine. If we had done as our previous vet recommended -- nothing -- the cats would have been dead in about another month or so. We really love Dr. K!

We took our cat Tenshi to Dr. Kuhar when we noticed breathing problems and ear mites. Even though it was early evening, he told us to bring her in right away. After looking into some other things while we were there, we had found that she got a hold of some pretty bad toxins. If it was not for the caring nature of this Dr., we wouldn't have our cat today. Dr. Kuhar treats your kitty like a person with fur and is very comforting and kind to you and your cat.*edited* When I read two of the negative comments above, I just couldn't help but login and comment. .. this is a life we are talking about, not some inanimate object. I become greatly disturbed when people look at the value of a dollar over the health of their pets. If you feel that way, then why do you even have a cat? I have never had any hidden fees with Dr. K, he has ALWAYS been upfront with them. And, I have been there enough times to know that he certainly does have a good number of clientele. Did you even go over and take a look at all the abundance of thanks in note or card form on his wall?Secondly, did it ever occur to you that he has a doorbell as a precaution? He keeps it locked so that in the event that your kitty gets loose and someone opens the door kitty doesn't run out and get hit by a car. Do you know that he spends the entire night with them if there is a problem? How many clinics will do that for you? If you want assembly line, conveyor belt surgery and your kitty just being a number on file, then by all means, go to a cheaper vet. You get what you pay for, but unfortunately, kitty is primarily the one who has to pay the ultimate. If you want THE BEST, then Dr. K is it. Please don't disservice your kitty by listening to a few bitter, ignorant people.
