Excellent!! I've been taking my dog to BAH for several years now and give Dr. Collins my highest recommendation. Recently my dog had surgery and Dr. Collins was excellent at explaining the procedure, possible outcome, and he even called me over the weekend to check up on my pet. He is knowledgeable, professional and really cares about his patients. Also, I love the new office decor! Thanks to BAH for taking great care of Cookie!

Ballston Animal Hospital has been taking care of my dog Cody for around 2 years now and I have been very happy with the staff, especially Dr. Collins. We've only had one emergency, but it was pretty scary and the schedule was booked solid. Dr. Collins suggested we leave Cody for a few hours and they managed to squeak him in between appointments within an hour. Cody was fine but the family was so relived that we were able to get him in that day. Dr. Collins called to check on Max several times to make sure all was well. The staff there really shows concern for not only my pet's care, but also for the concerns and fears of my family and that really means alot to all of us.

First it was very difficult to actually get an appointment. When I showed up this morning with my sick dog I was 5 minutes late. After I filled out the page of paperwork I was told that I would have to reschedule because they didn't have enough time to see us. I was the only one in the waiting area. They offered to have me come in at a later time in the day, but eventually rescheduled for Monday. If my dog was really sick these 5 days in between could be very detrimental. The receptionist then told me that first time clients are supposed to show up 15 minutes beforehand to fill out paperwork and then she reprimanded me for not having concern for my dog to show up on time. I will not be returning. It is ridiculous to speak to a client in this manner. I have told and will continue to advise all my friends to stay far away. I can't believe you can have a successful business if you are treating customers in such a way. Blatant scolding and disrespect are not ok. Having worked the in the service industry for a time I know that the customer is always right, even if the customer is wrong. I suggest going to the Banfield Hospital in Falls Church. They were able to see me today and were fantastically friendly.

I've taken my dog to Ballston Animal Hospital for a few years and am very pleased with the care that the staff have given my pet. I have noticed a change in staff at the front desk but it seems to me like the new people hired on are knowledgeable about pet care and really excel at customer service. They have also made some improvements to the exterior and interior of the clinic and the place looks great.

They will persuade you to run all type of bloodwork and other tests on your animals, then refer you to emergency care, when they should have in the first place. Not one of their veterinary technicians is licscenced and management is constantly changing to someone with less experience, who does not treat all employees the same. They constantly are changing staff and will terminate an employee at the drop of a hat. In the past they have terminated employees because of medical reasons and refuse to hire young adults with families. Management will also give out confidential information about past employees to their current employees. They constantly refer to their handbook but do not abide by it in client/hospital situations and employee/hospital situations.

I've had excellent success with Ballston Animal Hospital for all the regular vet needs for my dogs. The vets and staff are professional and thorough. They've even gone above and beyond to diagnose rare conditions for both dogs.
Understand, however, that they are not set up to handle emergencies. If you have an emergency, ask them for an immediate referral to the Hope Center (Vienna) or South Paws. Both of those vet hospitals are set up for 24 hour emergency care and both have excellent vets and staff. The Ballston staff will do the referral and provide the emergency vets with necessary informaion about your pet.

I've been going to Ballston Animal Hospital for 4 years and just brought in my new puppy and the stafff was wonderful. My pup really liked Dr. Collins who was extremely patient with all of the questions I had (and I had a lot of them!) even though the clinic was very busy. I will always recommend Ballston Animal Hospital to my friends.

Not good for an emergency

I had taken my dog to Ballston Animal hospital for years and was always satisfied with the care. A few months ago my dog became ill suddenly and I called them for an emergency. I begged because I live right right down the block -- they said no no no no there were no more appointmentst that day, even though I called at 11am. I was very clear that this was critical. I finally found another VET to take my dog in. The vet worked valiently but because of the time delay in trying to find another vet, my dog died. That is not my suspicion its a fact according to the Vet. I will never forgive Ballston Animal Hospital for this.

I've checked out many of the local animal hospitals, and the care and consideration I received at the Ballston Animal Hospital is unmatched! The vets are so friendly and helpful, and I've never met such knowledgeable assistants. I think that their lobby area needs some music piped in to complete the effect, but I hear they have that "in the works". If you're looking for reasonable prices and great pet care give 'em a call!

I have been taking my pets to this hospital for over 22 years. A few years ago, it seemed to change management and the quality took a nosedive. However, it is "back".. the care is very, very good, the staff pleasant and knowledgeable, and the atmosphere is pleasant. No trouble scheduling appointments, even with specific veterinarians if you have a favorite. Beware, they are expensive .. but the quality of care is great, and, best of all, your pets don't come home with fleas they didn't have when they arrived. You can trust your fuzzy friends here!

Ballston Animal Hospital is not a place for your pet! If you can schedule your pets illness, than this place is ok. However, if your pet suddenly becomes ill, they will never, I mean NEVER fit you in! This has happened now to me twice! What kind of vet doesn't take sick pets?
Also, once I stopped taking my pet to Ballston Animal Hospital I now know they charge 3X as much as other vets. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE, DON'T TAKE YOUR PETS HERE!

CONS: 3x as much as other vets....will not fit your sick pet in!

I took my cat here recently after the cat contracted an illness. I was able to get an appointment that day which really surprised me. The doctor and their staff were great. They prescribed some medication that restored my pets health. The bill was very pricey and that might prevent me from going here again but the service overall was spectacular.

When I first went here I liked this vet, although they were a bit on the pricey side.. however about 3 or 4 years ago it seemed to go down hill. It seemed like there were suddenly massive changes in both the staff and vets and it seemed like a quite unhappy place (the people seemed quite stressed out). However it seems that it has gone back to being more like what is was before. I am quite glad for that.
