This place is very average, nothing special. I am Greek. My parents went one time by themselves and they ordered the fried cheese, saganiki, and they gave my parents a cheap cheese. When my parents pointed it out they said, oh you must be greek.

The Greek Taverna is everything a Greek restaurant should be. It is run by the nicest Greek family (if you go enough times, they will certainly remember you), and your waiters are even Greek! Start off with some Greek wine, and enjoy the delicious homemade bread - but save room for the hummus and pita! My favorite entrees include the stuffed chicken breast and the chicken (or shrimp) ka-bobs (all entrees come with a house salad). Their lamb and fresh seafood are also to die for. If you can, order some dessert and a coffee for after dinner.

Another great thing about the Greek Taverna is that it has a big, beautiful, grape-covered outside eating area - a rarity in McLean!

Pros: Fresh food, exotic spices, big outdoor patio

Cons: none!

Being Greek, I'm very picky about the Greek food that I eat that is not cooked by my mother and I must say that I would gladly eat this food any day of the week. The octopus is fabulous and their lamb is to die for.

When the weather is nice I would recommend eating outside on the patio. They've done a good job of using plants to shield the fact that you are sitting looking at traffic on Old Dominion Dr. The staff is always agreeable and will let you make adjustments to any dish to suit your palate. I recommend the grilled chicken salad. Enjoy!
