Ratings_icons Responsive Physicians Overshadowed by Incompetent LPN

Rebecca A.

I came to Manassas OB-GYN after I found out I was pregnant from a date rape. It was already an awful time for my family but they were able to see me quickly. I really liked the physicians.

The waiting room was spacious, the office staff scheduled me quickly and Dr. Wall was compassionate. He even did an intervaginal ultrasound right away so we could date the pregnancy. I got the impression he would have done anything we needed.

However, Dr. Wall performed a blood test for Herpes because my husband requested it. Turns out, you should never have a blood test for herpes if you're not having symptoms because the test is confusing. But they didn't tell us that so we didn't know, and we had the test and I received a call from Valerie the OB nurse (Who is not even an RN, she's an LPN) telling me over the phone that I had Herpes and she was going to call in the prescription for Valtrex. I was devastated and horrified that the rest of my life was going to be even more painful. I had to tell my husband and the person who had raped me and the next two weeks of my life were the worst of my life. Even worse than finding out I was pregnant after date rape.

Turns out, Valerie the LPN didn't know what she was talking about. She had misinterpreted the results. Dr. Wall explained it to me later when I insisted I talk to him rather than her. I told her about this and she didn't apologize, she said "that's what the results usually mean." She was WRONG and so unapologetic. My husband and I will never have those 2 weeks of our lives back and she was so uncaring about it.

She also later told me there is no way to have a paternity test until after a baby is born. She was wrong about that too.

When you are pregnant and calling an OB office, you usually end up talking to the OB nurse. The OB nurse is a crucial part of any OB practice and of your experience as a pregnant woman. DO NOT go here if Valerie is still the OB nurse!

I ended up switching to another practice that was much more educated and helpful and respectful.

Ratings_icons Great Practicce - Highly recommended!

D S.

All of the Doctors at Manassas Ob-Gyn are wonderful and the nurses & staff have always been helpful and courteous. Dr. Dehal delivered our son in 2006 and she was wonderful. I am expecting #2 this summer and I will be happy to have any of the doctors on call for delivery. If you are pregnant (or not) and looking for a doctor, this practice comes highly recommended!

Ratings_icons Wonderful Doctors!!! Both kids delivered by them!

I love these doctors! Dr. Gonzalez is the star doctor in that office and you can tell by the waiting list he has to get to see him. I was so fortunate to have him deliver my second child. He was nothing but laughs and caring the WHOLE 12 hours he worked with me to deliver. No C section unless totally necessary with him. Get in line, because he is worth it. Thanks Dr. Gonzalez!

PROS: Dr. Gonzalez!!!

Ratings_icons A great admin staff helps make a great doctor's office, right?

Citysearch User

While pregnant you will meet up with all doctors so they at least have some knowledge of who you are, should they be the one to deliver your baby; which is fine. The doctor's are knowledgeable and thorough without imposing much.
The administrative staff however, seem to operate on a different customer service standard. I never know what to expect from them. One day they are nothing but professional and courteous and yet the next day you leave the office crying b/c a member of the admin staff is blatantly disrespectful. No woman, (pregnant or not) should have to deal with that. Don't expect much so you won't be disappointed if are treated with disrespect or you could be pleasantly surprised. Either way you're ready.
