If you're anything like me, the title alone that I wrote makes you skeptical. If you're more like me you are also curious as to what the title means. I want to tell you that I met God at Oxford Mt.Zion Baptist Church in Ruther Glen, VA! This experience was not your typical "church" experience. To be honest with you, the first time I entered the door of this church I didn't even want to be there. I was so sick and tired of "church" as I have come to know it. To me, most churches were a lot of fake people who went to the clubs on saturday and strolled in late on sunday. Churches consisted of women wearing clothes to try to find a man on Sunday morning (dressing seductively). To me, churches were not full of love and churches seemed to be the last place I could find God. But, when I first stepped foot into Oxford I was greeted by friendly faces. People wanted to get to know me. More importantly, when the pastor (Duane Fields) preached, I knew God had sent a special message just for me. The pastor didn't sugar coat anything...and as a matter of fact he said "I hate church folks". To understand that one, all I can say is you have to see if for yourself. There are men and women that want to serve God in this church. They don't care about getting all the praise from people here on earth, they'd rather just praise God. The pastor and his wonderful wife exemplify this in their lifestyle. I have seen them now (in front of lots of people and even when not so many are watching). They are the same. They love God even when no one is watching. More importantly, they serve God even when no one else is watching. This is true faith. The message I got that Sunday gave me the faith to keep pressing on, and as the tears filled my eyes...i could feel God place his loving arms around me. I knew I was with him and he had me. Wanna meet God? I challenge you to visit this place.
