5 Stars: No complaints here (by Kelli B.)

I shopped around to all three of the big area nurseries in search of some Crepe Myrtles for my yard. Although all three nurseries provided some good information, the customer service at Blue Mount really reeled me in. The employee there walked me around to all the types and sizes, explained in detail the growth and care of the plants and how to choose them, allowed me time to decide and then proptly returned to help me pay, tag the trees and arrange for planting and offered me his card in case I had any further questions.
The original prices were comparable to the other two nurseries but being fall, I actually got my trees at 50% off.
Planting was scheduled in a timely manner and the workers did a fantastic job.

1 Stars: Blue Mount Nursery's staff needs to take class on customer service (by betty w.)

The nursery has a good overpriced selection with slack customer service, at best.

Dear BlueMont : We do live in the dc metro area and many of us are not plant specialists. A picture of the blooming flower to be, or a mere description would be helpful. A price tag on your plants would also be of service considering your staff is few and far between. If you assume and look down on the random visitor interested in a pretty annual to pot: get over your plant snobbery, no one is interested. Sad to say but if you're a novice gardener you are better off dealing with the oblivious nursery staff at corporate America's Home Depot and Lowe's...or a nursery chain.

This place is great if you already know what you want and never have any questions about anything.

4 Stars: Blue Mount Nursery has good quality stock. (by Lenn H.)

I love this place. Good healthy stock. Quick delivery and helpful staff.

I've purchased 40-45 shrubs, many annuals and the quality is the best in the Northern Virginia area that I shop.

Wish they still carried bulbs.

1 Stars: Horrible Customer Service For A Premium Price - Let Them Know It's Not OK!! (by robert c.)

I've lived in this area for 13 yrs and have repeatedly given this business a chance to earn my business as i'm literally minutes from them and every time I leave I swear it will be the last time. I've never dealt with a ruder group of people. Their prices are outrageous and all the signage that they have up clearly show that they have zero trust in their customers. If they are so worried that their customers may walk off the lot with something perhaps they should staff properly or perhaps they also treat their staff so poorly that they can't keep folks. You bring your items up to the counter and the person who writes down what you've purchased doesn't even speak to you - zero customer service. Lastly, i suspect because they don't trust their customers, they herd you through one entrance via a revolving gate, I kid you not, and you MUST exit via the back door, not because you're a VIP, but because they don't trust you.

1 Stars: Who's Minding the Store? (by Elizabeth J.)

These are penny-pinching days with the economy in dire straits, so when a plant dies after just a couple days (it was not placed outside or abused in any way) one would expect a responsible seller. When a manager was summoned, he did not show up and I had to look for him in the nursery. When I approached him about my dead plant (with my receipt in hand), he was indifferent and would not replace or provide credit--no restitution whatsoever. For a lousy $4.00 I won't go to this nursery again. They are expensive and not supportive to their customers.

1 Stars: Rude and Disrespectful (by Rob M.)

I've been to this nursery a dozen times maybe due to its proximity, but I will never go there again. Almost every time I'm treated like I'm going to steal something. Prices are high which would be okay if you were treated respectfully. Instead it's - you can only exit out the back door so you have to walk around the whole building. Sorry, dude, I'm trying to bring my 3 year old with me and he's still back in the building, what am i supposed to do? Then I get herded by two other guys back to the exit, even though I'm 30 feet from my car.

5 Stars: Blue Mount Nursery (by Cindy C.)

Blue Mount is your one-stop place to make your yard a showplace! Since we moved to VA five years ago, we have bought several trees there and had them planted by the crew. Every one of them are thriving and look amazing! Their annuals are always the healthiest around, and we'd never even think of going anywhere else. They also have a great holiday shop.

4 Stars: Large selection Tad Pricey (by Michael R.)

I travel from state to state and was advised by another nursery to check there for a larger selection. I was pleasantly surprised by the large selection. Now since I fly everywhere bringing plants home was a problem. I was given excellent advice from their staff and was able to transport a small banana tree home to Arizona. I was not happy to hear they did not accept Amex cards. But overall very pleased.

1 Stars: Poor Customer Service, premium prices (by M M.)

Average selection, premium prices. Be aware that there is a 15% restocking fee for all plant material returned for refund. We put a tree on hold and then decided against it the next day. Management insisted on charging a 15% restocking fee even though the tree never left the lot. We will use them only for small items for convenience. We will not buy any large ticket items or large quantity purchases because we feel that customer service is very low priority. This should not be the case when they are charging premium prices.

1 Stars: Would not recommend (by Tom C.)

Overpriced with poor customer service. We bought a birch tree only to find that the main root had been cut too short for the tree to live. When we went back for a refund they refused. They only offered replacements. We looked around the lot and found the rest of the birch trees we had seen weeks earlier all dead for the same reason.

5 Stars: pleasantly surprised (by Julia C.)

I have been living in Ashburn for the last 15 years, and just started shopping at Blue Mount Nursery this summer. I wish i would have taken the time to stop in to look before this year. I was pleasantly surprised to see how much they have. Since I have been in my house for so many years, it was in dire need of a face lift. After working with the staff... and a few sweaty days of planting I have a beautiful new look. They also have pond equipment and fish- which helped transform my old algae hole back into a relaxing pond.

PROS: great selection
CONS: no AC in the building

5 Stars: extremly helpful and friendly (by lynn s.)

I've bought from Blue Mount for years and have never had any issues there, only pleasant interactions. When i need recommendations i take in pictures of the area in my yard and they are more than helpful. Blue Mount's prices are sometimes higher than other garden centers, but plant quality seems to be higher as well. It's also nice to know that whenever I have a diseased or bug infected plant i can take a leaf into them and they are able to help me both identify and control the issue. I also love the gift shop area inside the building, it's like a one stop shop for many of my needs. I would recommend Blue Mount to anyone.

PROS: helpful staff and good plant and gift selection
CONS: can be crowded during the spring

1 Stars: Blue mount is infected with pests (by Carolyn R.)

I bought 3 trees last week, the Japanese maple was dying within 3 hours after I got it home, the magnolia tree had Japanese Beetles in the top blooms (I never had them here before this - and am now infested. The weeping cherry appears to be OK for now. I called in 3 days and informed them of the situation and was rudely told to bring them back for 50% return. I also noticed a worker there carrying around an aphid infected leaf - even taking it out with the other plants without taking any precautions to prevent further infestation.

PROS: Good selection
CONS: Rude managers, pest infested plants, high price

3 Stars: Good Quality Plants, a Tad Overpriced (by Rachael C.)

I have always gotten good quality plants and flowers from Blue Mount, but they are a little overpriced. If I don't have a coupon from the paper or it's big planting season, I try not to go because it gets very crowded and costs so much. I did however get some reasonably priced slate pieces for my yard arrangement, and had my pick. The delivery was prompt and came when expected. Another downside is that when it gets crowded, it's hard to find employees to help you.

3 Stars: Not the best nursery (by S. A.)

This isn't the best plant nursery that I've seen. The plants here are quite expensive too. The people are helpful, but if you really want your money's worth I would pick another nursery. The only time I shop at this one is after the holidays when they put things on sale, otherwise I generally drive the extra distance to go elsewhere.

2 Stars: Autumn Festival is Not What It Sounds Like (by Alexandra W.)

The "Autumn Festival" at Blue Mount Nursery charges $7 per child and $3 per adult. It is comprised of a moon bounce, a few slides, a climbing tunnel playhouse, and a maze. While entertaining for the kids for a little while, the fun quickly runs out as does your wallet. $20 for a family of four was NOT money well spent.
