Dr. Nan Jack & her staff are just the best! last year she went out of her way, to be extra kind and considerate to me and the little feral neighborhood cat, Ms. (or Mr.) Kitty, who was quite elderly and in obvious respiratory distress. she

I recently took my cat, without an appointment, to the Church Hill Animal hospital. Instead of turning me away with a "set up an appointment and we'll get back to you." they took a look at my cat with no hassle. Not recommending you don't make an appointment, BUT if something comes up with your pet(s) and you're just are too frantic/worried to call(Like myself) these people will help you out and won't charge you a 'didn't make an appointment fee'. These are the people who really do care about your pet(s) not your wallet. They also have a great staff who will help you through out the whole vet visit and make you feel very comfortable(They're also very polite and kind). . On side note my Vet Doctor, Carolyn W. Clay, DVM, was very helpful and understanding to my situation, I couldn't have asked for a better Vet to handle my pet. I can and will recommend this to my fellow pet owners who want a vet who will help them out through thick and thin.

There is no way possible I could ever thank Doctor D'Alfonzo and Church Hill Animal Hospital enough for the care and compassion they gave Marty McFly and myself on May 7 2009.

My cat had a freak throwdown with my dog and suffered serious bites, scratches, bruises, trauma and stress he had never experienced before. When I came home to my half lifeless companion I was scared and hysterical. I called the first number I could think of: Church Hill Animal Hospital. The staff member who answered my ballistic call was patient and understanding, asked for a little detail and told me to come in ASAP and we'd be seen immediately.

Sure enough, I brought in my babe wrapped up in a towel and was instantly escorted into an open door where a staff member and Doctor D'Alfonzo instantly greeted Marty & I with care and concern. They wasted no time and immediately started tending to Marty, caring for his eyes and wounds. They were so sweet and loving to my little guy and assured me he taught the dog a strong lesson!

They saved me time and MONEY by taking X-Rays and giving him a couple staples and IV and fluids right then and there. They referred me to VEC (which would have cost an arm and a leg if they had done those major procedures that Church Hill Animal Hospital took care of for us) for overnight monitoring, which I'll leave another great review for next!

Most importantly of all Church Hill Animal Hospital saved my cat.

Pros: Skilled, compassionate and accomodating in an emergency

Cons: I didn't start my animals care here in the first place

We just switched from Betty Baugh's in the west end when we moved to the east end. Dr. Jack imediately found an ear and gland infection that the other vet missed. She costs a lot less too.

For us it is about a 40 minute drive to her office, it is well worth the trip. Dr. Jack is a very caring and experienced vet. She takes the time to explain exactly what is going on with your pet. Her office is immaculate, warm and friendly. Her clients are very diverse - which attests to her genuine love of animals and her people-friendly manner. Her staff are the best - even when things are very hectic at times! It's refreshing to finally find a vet for our cats who is not pushing expensive meds or treatments that may not always be necessary. Very highly recommended!

I agree with the below comment - Dr Jack has the best balance of care for your pets, and sensitivity to the owner. She is great about answering questions, giving honest advice, and only running tests where necessary to the health of the animal. My dogs really don't seem to mind going in for shots and checkups - she makes it as un-traumatic as possible, and therefore its a pleasure to keep going back and to give her my recommendation.

Dr. Jack is the best. She not only cares about your pets, she cares about the owner too. She is not only the friendliest, but is way more affordable than other vets. When we took our cats in for feline leukemia tests, she was concerned if we really needed the tests because of the price and the fact that there is no known cure so there is nothing you can do to really treat the disease. Also, when we picked up a lost dog that was darting in and out of traffic, she gave it a check-up for free.

Dr, jack is truly and excellent vet! The office is always clean, the staff is friendly and the time and care given to your pet each visit is excellent. My pet was diagnosed with heart disease, Dr. Jack was able to give me a referral to an outstanding specialist and the office followed up on the status of my pet. I would recommend this vet's office highly!

You can tell Dr. Jack cares about animals - there are strays waiting for adoption in the waiting room, a kitty with a balance disorder in the bathroom, and others roaming the halls. The office is super-busy so you may have to wait but it's worth it.

9/16/07 Still standing by my five-star review of Dr. Jack and CAH...but wondering why Holly Hilton couldn't be happier yet only gives a rating of average?!? Also, I think the wait time has decreased with the addition of another vet.

Dr. Jack is a very personable caring vet. She took a lot of time with me when my Siamese was in kidney failure. She and her staff obviously care about their patients - both feline and human. When the end finally came and it seemed that my at-home vet was not going to be available to euthanize my kitty at home, Dr. Jack offered to come to my house after her office closed so my precious 15 year old cat wouldn't be put to sleep in a strange place.....Also, her fees were well below what I expected. An office visit and overnight stay at Church Hill Vet was less than a check up with our previous vet practice in the West End.
