I had the best customer service experience of my life compliments of Ms. Tracey Holland of Belfort Furniture. I contacted customer service with a random question. Ms Holland's response encouraged me to have Belfort come to my house to examine the piece of furniture in question at no charge. I never, ever would have guessed that there was an issue, but sure enough Absalom (I apologize for the spelling of his name) came to my home on time and very professional to perform the inspection found the defect. Ms. Holland followed up with me in a timely manner. Long story short, I was credited got the piece of furniture and have since bought a replacement. I'm very appreciate of Ms. Holland's and Absalom's customer service skills. It's very rare today. I'm now a very loyal Belfort Furniture customer. Thank You.

Would never order from here again. We ordered a bunk bed that took three months to deliver (we were warned that it may take this long). On delivery day we were informed that they were missing the feet to the bed, that it would be 4-6 weeks until they arrive, but that they would deliver the rest of the bed (and we would have to schedule a followup 3 hour delivery window for the feet). Upon delivery we were told that the accompanying ladder was never ordered. After the initial person blamed us for the ladder never being ordered (lesson one, if you order from here walk through every item that is included, we were never asked about a ladder, the ladder was shown with the bed, and who would order a bunk bed without a ladder) we spoke to a manager named Denise. Her remedy for a third delivery (9+ hours of my life lost) that we will have to wait for, and 8+ weeks to get the ladder? They weren't going to charge us additional for the ladder ($79)! We don't have to actually pay for their mistake! She truly believed that her benevolence for this was unmatched. I learned my lesson here, that while you think you are paying extra for service, you are most definitely not going to get it.

We sincerely apologized to this customer for delivering the bunk bed without the feet. The feet were delivered the next day, as well as a loaner ladder. They are not being charged for the ladder that was mistakenly not on their order. In addition, they have been compensated for the inconvenience.

There was a great selection of furniture and I had tremendous, patient help from my salesman, Marc Rosenthal. The beds, table and chair arrived exactly within my window of time and were assembled in no time at all by a very helpful and cheerful pair of men. My next furniture buy will be from Belfort.

I previously wrote a very negative review regarding a mattress set we had that had developed gullies. The next day Befort contacted us and offered full credit on a new mattress. What a wonderful result. We couldn't be happier. The new mattress is so much better and I was impressed with Belfort's willingness to stand behind their merchandise even though it was technically not covered by the manufacturer's warranty. This is the way every business should operate.

Thought that was rediculous.\nWe also purchased a VERY expensive desk and file cabinet and were told they were solid wood with veneer. When all the furniture was delivered, over half was damaged and needed to be sent back, including the desk, which had a door hanging from just one hinge. As we examined the desk door, we noticed it was particle board under the veneer! Belfort said they would not accept a return or give our money back.\nAs we tried to work with our sales rep to rectify the situation, he was not returning calls and it was almost two weeks before my husband went in to see him. Our poor two year old who has been waiting 3 months to receive his "big boy" bed, night stand, and dresser is very concerned that his room does not have a bed for him to sleep in. This is the fault of the lousy customer service and delivery department of Belfort. We bought this furniture (payed in full) nearly 3 months ago. Belfort Furniture takes customer satisfaction very seriously and we were very apologetic to this family who did not receive their furniture as expected. The day their delivery was scheduled, October 13, the Washington, DC area experienced severe, heavy rain late in the day. The truck with their furniture got stuck in mud for over 5 hours and the driver's cell phone did not have a back up battery. Hence, the driver was not able to communicate to us. We dropped the ball by not contacting this customer in the evening when we realized what happened to the delivery team. We learned a few lessons that day and have taken corrective action to ensure this situation does not repeat itself. We did deliver this customer's furniture the very next day, October 14. Follow-up conversations have assured us that they are happy with their furniture. We do hope they will consider Belfort for future needs and allow us to demonstrate the outstanding customer service that we are known for as indicated by our 4.5 star rating on Google.

We have never had fun buying furniture--until now. Whenever we walk into a furniture store, we always seem to attract the salesperson who 1) is the LEAST familiar with the stock they carry; or 2) will not listen to what we need. What a pleasure to find Marc Rosenthal at Belfort Furniture! I told him what we needed (couch and chair) and what our limitations are (small room, I'm 5 foot 1, my husband is 6 foot 3). Marc toured me around Belfort's extensive showrooms efficiently and congenially, showing me only what I had asked to see. What a relief! When I brought my husband back later, we had a frame of reference and a salesperson who not only knew his stock cold, but who could explain the construction of the pieces in which we were interested. Besides that, Marc made it fun with his comfortable sense of humor and a complete lack of pressure. We bought an upholstered couch with Queen fold-out bed, adding a contrasting welt on the cushions (choice of about 50 fabrics for the couch), two small matching ottomans, a leather chair, and 2 end tables for about $4,200 including a protection package, tax and delivery. We are very satisfied that this furniture will last us a long time. Selection at Belfort covers quite a range and one could easily spend considerably more or considerably less and be, I think, just as satisfied as we are.

I went in to Belfort about one week ago, and I was pretty upset about this whole mattress buying experience, after dealing with these mattress giant, mattress firm sales personnel, with their pushy sales tactics. So as I walked into the last mattress hell hole on my journey down the road to find the perfect mattress for myself, I prepared myself to kill the sales person if they came at me the wrong way, but to my relief I had the best buying experience one could ever image. The Manager Nick Daniels took the time to explain the differences and benefits to a new sleep system. It was with their help I was able to make an educated purchase that fit my needs and wallet. It was refreshing to know that this company trains there sales staff and truly values their customers

I bought a sectional coach from Belfort furniture and after it arrived I noticed the cushions were sagging. I called Belfort and they sent out a technician to assess the situation. John came to my house, took pictures of the couch and made sure the appropriate materials were ordered. John was very professional and thorough. He made multiple trips to my house until the situation was remedied to my satisfaction.

We bought a loveseat/chair from Belfort on Labor Day weekend 2010 along with an extra pillow in another fabric. We were told that they would both be in 3-4 weeks (stated on the receipt). However we did not receive them until almost 2 months later!! We had to keep calling for updates, we were NEVER once called by Belfort except the night before delivery - which was horrible also! The delivery people scraped our stairwell and almost broke our hanging lamp getting the chair upstairs. We had requested to be called when the extra pillow came in so we knew when to expect the package. We were not called, the pillow was poorly wrapped in CLEAR plastic - No box or anything, and was left on our front steps by UPS on Oct 30. If we had left town a day early, the pillow would have sat out all weekend for the trick or treaters to pick up. I called on Oct 30th and spoke to someone who did not seem concerned and had me leave a voicemail for someone in the shipping department, which I did. This was over 2 weeks ago now and I have not had any response. Zero customer service, which is such a dissapointment considering how well our experience started with the sales staff. What a shame. Will never buy from again!

Very bad..I ordered bed and sectional sofa for my apartment. I was asked to pick the chase and arm for sectional sofa. I consulted with my apartment folks and called in the next day. I got to move into my apartment two days later at which point the I found my chase would be on the doorway and we cannot enter. my apartment folks misguided me. I immediately called to cancel order. Sales person told me I cannot cancel my orde because its a special order and I have to pick something else. They say its special order because I selected a different fabric. But they are one who encouraged me. I have never bought a furniture so everything was new. What I dont understand is, they had the color and fabric in the display in their place and I picked the same. Anyway I am new to this place and needed a sofa and therefore ended picking up something else. I had been busy at work and coming late so had no time to see my sofa in the day light until now. Today I noticed they have a chemical patch in the middle of sofa. I dont know what to do and what they will do.I paid $800+ for a sofa which is damaged..I could have gotten better once in a different store. My husband and I have shopped at Belfort Furniture many times. We have never had a bad experience. Instead, We have found the sales staff to be very professional and helpful, and we have never felt "pushed" into making a purchase. On those occasions when the furniture had to be delivered, the delivery guys were friendly, very courteous, and fast. They had a home office system we had purchased set-up in no time! We recommend Belfort to all our friends and will shop there again soon!

If I had a word of warning about Belfort, it would be this: prepare to spend a while there. They have FIVE different showrooms with an enormous selection of furniture, and don't miss the clearance center. We have found some great bargains there.

Mr. Geffre has impeccable taste & goes out of his way to make sure we our confident with our furniture purchase. Mr. Geffre goes above & beyond any consultant we have ever worked with. We can't imagine buying furniture from anybody but Belfort due to Patrick Geffre!!

I needed a TV console for a 60" flat screen. I wanted quality furniture, not what you see at the "big box" stores. Belfort had a terrific selection of large wall units and TV consoles. I found just the right piece that had lots of features - storage options and a big plus, it hides all the cords. Had to walk through three showrooms to see them all, (the complex is enormous), but it was worth the time. The staff was really professional and they knew their merchandise. Really impressed. You cannot go wrong with a visit to Belfort!

Just wanted to mention that once again, our experience shopping at Belfort was far better than we have had in the past with other furniture stores. We were looking for (and found) a beautiful jewelry armoire for our daughter. The salesman was available but not pushy. He checked with the warehouse and discovered that our armoire was not only in stock but that we could take it with us! We just don't bother with other places anymore. This is a complaint. I just recently cancelled an order with Belfort for a kitchen table after it was never delivered and I could not get a straight answer on when it would be.

I ordered the table on June 6th and was told 3 weeks delivery. When it did not come after 3 weeks I called Belfort. This is the first bad sign, Belfort should call the customer if something is late, the customer should not have to go looking for their furniture. I was told it would not be in until the end of August and if I had a problem with it to call the salesperson.

I left a vm for my salesperson Philip but never received a return call. I called back a few times to see if I could cancel my order and was always told to talk to the salesperson or transferred to a sales line with a ringing phone that nobody answered. Customer service also told me they were emailing philip and asking him to get in touch with me.

I also mentioned during one of these calls that I would like to buy the floor model if possible since I really wanted this table but was transferred again to a ringing phone with no answer. I decided to wait it out since I really wanted this table.

I called again towards the end of August to see if the table was going to be delivered and was told the new delivery date was sometime in September. At this point I don't trust it's being delivered at all. I asked to cancel again and was transferred to a phone with no answer.

I drove up there two days ago and cancelled my order. The sales people who helped me seemed sympathetic but didn't really care about my order or offer any help. While waiting I noticed the table I had ordered had a sold sign on it, Sold July 1st and to be delivered Aug 18th. This really disgusted me since I have been waiting for this table since June 6th with no site of a delivery. I really wanted that table as it fit my kitchen pefectly but this was the worse customer service experience of my life. I am in the customer service field myself and was shocked at the business practices. It really seems once you have the customer's payment the customer service is gone. .

Luckily they let me cancel at least, I have heard sometimes they try to charge a deposit.

I am in the midst of a problem with Belfort. I will keep you updated as this situation progresses. \r\n\r\nI spent $$$$ on a settee made by Craftmaster. I purchased high grade fabrics. Paid in full. After only 2 weeks, the pillows do not regain shape; the pillows are smaller than the fabric casing so that the corners and sides flop; the fabric on the seat cusion pulls, distorting the pattern, & the seat cushion does not lay flat. Looks a mess. \r\n\r\nBelfort Customer care required I send photos,so I sent several photos with details. Belfort says that the manufacturer, Craftmaster, says ""this is normal"" for their specifications, all you need to do is fluff the pilows, and they refuse to do anything, unless I pay again for the cost of new pillows and cushions. Everyone who has seen the pillows & cushions says they are a mess. It was also very insulting to be told that I need to fluff pillows -- (yes, I know enough to try and fluff pillows -- I told them that no amount of fluffing or adjusting of the casing makes a difference.)\r\n\r\nThe pillows & cushions are obviously defective. So far, Belfort says they uphold the manufacturer over the customer. Belfort Customer Care has submitted a new request to the manufacturer, but they tell me that whatever the manufacture says is what they uphold. They support what the manufacturer says, over the customer. \r\n\r\nOnce this problem started, I looked at the many reviews on-line and I see that there are similar complaints: Someone receives a defective product, but the manufacturer says the defect is ""normal"" and Belfort sides with the manufacturer, regardless of photos. There are some reviews that describe that Belfort finally sent someone out to their house to look at the defect and once they see the defect themselves, they might repair the item -- but this is only after months of emails, phone calls and frustration, as well as time-consuming to schedule the appointment, and sometimes the problem still is not resolved. In one case, the customer said Belfort finally sent someone out to their house to look at the defect and the man agreed it was defective -- but by that time, the warranty had expired! \r\n\r\nIn the hope that I do not have to go down those similar paths, in addition to communicating with the Belfort Customer Care, I contacted the President of Belfort, Dan Kennedy. I am now waiting for him to return my call. I am hoping that Mr. Kennedy will be able to help me, as the customer. I saw on-line that Mr. Kennedy is reputed as someone who is helping Belfort to regain their image as standing by the products that they sell. I also read that the CEO of Belfort, Michael Huber, especially hired Dan Kennedy in order to address Befort's attempts to rebuild an image that they put customers first. I will keep you updated on this site as to the progress of my issue. \r\n\r\nIt is a shame, really, -- I paid top-dollar for what was supposed to be a fine piece of furniture. My new sette looks worse than a fold-out couch I purchased from IKEA. \r\n\r\nAnd, I have already wasted more time and energy than anyone should have to spend on a piece of furniture.....and it still is not yet resolved. \r\n\r\nKeep checking back here because I will let you know how it goes. \r\nTill then, you may wish to hold-off on any major purchases at Belfort.\r\n

I have had several furniture experiences here. I bought a kitchen table and the chairs (wood) fell apart within 5-7 years. I paid about $800. I also bought a king size bed when I was pregnant and was promised delivery within 4-6 weeks. I slept on a mattress on the floor for 6 months. I wanted the bed because I was pregnant and then slept on the floor! I have since gone to Haverty's and bought a new kitchen set and a daybed plus bunkbeds. Excellent products and delivery. I did pick up and that was a breeze too. I recommend changing to Haverty's. You want quality, good prices, good delivery, and excellent service, its not worth the hassles of Belfort!

Was hard to Find the store at first and the parking lots were full. But they had a ton to choose from and pretty good prices.
I was under the impression that cars, mattresses, and furniture were nogotiatble, but that is not the case here.
I spoke to 5 different sales people and all of them spoke of a price guarantee and that their prices are the lowest in VA.
My sales person was knowledgable but couldnt relate to my needs as he had no kids that destroy furniture.
I will go back soon and work with another sales person who understands my wifes and my needs for more durable furniture.
I plan on buying from here as it has a decent selection and a fair price.

Never again will I buy another piece of furniture from Belfort. In April 2008 we purchased a 'Craft Master' sectional sofa for our media room - cost $2,400. Let me tell you, no master worked on this one. Right away we noticed the signs of poor workmanship. The fabric was not stretched over the frame correctly and pulled to one side. The seat cushions were not wrapped with cotton lining which causes the cushion covers to shift on the cushion. You never know where you will find the seam or zipper. The back cushions appeared to be insufficienty filled and make the sofa look like it is 10 years old.

Well this is what we noticed right from the start. However, one week into our ownership we noticed that we had a rip in the seam on of the armrest and a hole in of the back cushions. we called Belfort and they sent their repair man about 2-3 weeks later. The repair man was able to fix the arm, however he said he had to order a replacement for the cushion cover. Belfort customer service called me and promised we would have them in about 6 weeks. They kept their promise. A service man came out again and replaced the cushion cover.
Well you would think, this would be it. But no, one day while I trying to straighten my cushion covers again, what did I find but more holes in my sofa cushions. We contacted Belfort again and luckily we were only 11 months into our 12 months warranty. Once again cushions were ordered and replaced.
Now we are out of warranty, and while I was straightening my covers on my cushions the other day and what did I find.....l.?????

Belfort's selection is fantastic, though it is spread out among many buildings. We ended up buying one set from clearance -- great deal -- and ordering the dining set from "Basics" and the mattress from the "Mattress Store." Our salesperson -- Nancy -- has worked there for years, in most of the departments, and knows them VERY well. She was able to help us all along, and knew what was in the other departments. She handled all of the ordering, between departments, and was very patient.

We took delivery of the first part of our order yesterday, and it went very well. They gave me a three-hour window, and then gave me an hour call-ahead. Delivery men was very professional and efficient.

I am surprised by the number of negative reviews on here. From our optic, we could not have made a better choice, and given how smooth this transaction has gone, I suspect we'll be back sooner than later.

I have ordered furniture from Belfort many times. THey have a wide range of product some much better made than others. If you order a cheap brand you are going to get cheap furniture that will not last. I would suggest that you do some research first to determine how to spot high quality furniture from the lesser quality brands.
I always purchase the better quality stuff so I have never had a service issue however I do have one complaint with them and that is with their delivery dept. I have purchased furniture from many stores in the area including THomasville, Drexel Heritage etc and Ethan Allan. My furniture has always been delivered in pristine condition except for Belfort deliveries. It seems as if they cannot even be bothered to dust the case pieces before they deliver them. I have received pieces that have been dirty and dusty. When I purchase furniture I expect it to come to me in perfect condition. They really need to improve their delivery service.

Sofas delivered without any rubber pads to go underneath to protect the hardwood floors. When I called the salesperson said "Oh! these sofas don't come with the rubber pads, you have to order them separately." When I ordered for the living room sofas from Haverty's, they provided the rubber pads for the sofas, and even some extra ones without even asking......My sunroom floor now has some scratches, wish they could have told me ahead of time, I would have just ordered from Haverty's.

My wife and I purchased a very expensive mattress at Belfort Furniture on the advice of their expert mattress salesperson, Jackie. She assured us that the mattress we purchased was the highest quality and best choice for someone who has had past back trouble. Two weeks after the mattress was delivered the mattress developed deep indentations and multiple lumps and valleys. Every morning I woke up with back pain and fatigue. When I called Jackie she told me it would be no problem the store would take care of us and see that we had a proper replacement. That never happened. The manager I spoke to said there was nothing wrong with the mattress, although she refused to come out and check it. She told me that I should never have purchased the mattress as it was not suitable for someone with a history of back trouble. When I reminded her that her salesperson recommended this mattress, she ignored that and said there was nothing the store would do. We spent $2,500 for a mattress that we cannot use and now need to buy a new one. It appears that they have their salespeople trained to try to sell the most expensive products rather than the best one for the customer.

Comes back and tells me Manufg. changing policy and all pillows will have zippers unless they are fringed, which mine were not. Pillows arrive without zippers. I phone Belfort. Told to wait 4-6 weeks for replacements. Two weeks go by and they call me and tell me it will cost more for those zippers. I ask for manager. Only get voicemail. Still waiting for someone to call me back.

I read the good and bad reviews posted here for Belfort Furniture and decided to post my experience. It may not be indicative of their overall service, but if it is, buyer beware. We looked at a few furniture stores before stopping by Belfort. The style of bedroom furniture matched our taste and the prices were competitive. The salesman's claim to have the furniture delivered in a week sealed the deal. Well, that was 7 Mar 09. Its 22 May 09 and still waiting on our furniture. After the first 2 weeks went by and no call from the store, I called and was told there was a delay and we should have the funriture delivered in another 2 weeks. Two more weeks go by...no call from the store (you see the pattern). Each time the salesman makes excuses that they are at the mercy of the manufacturer and how many pieces they ship to their stores. If that's the case, Belfort should identify this shortcoming to their customers and not lead them to believe otherwise. More importantly, in this day and age, Belfort should invest a little effort in getting better visibility of their inventory from their manufacturers. The latest prediction is 2 more weeks. If so, thats 3 months from the time we made our first and last purchase from Belfort.

I purchased a beautiful recliner that I needed to replace one my cat shredded RIGHT BEFORE FAMILY VISITED. I was devastated that it had to be ordered, because I didn't have enough seating. The floor manager actually checked to see if they had one in the warehouse, and voila, I got my chair that very day. He really went out of his way that afternoon. You never see that kind of customer service. I'll definitely shop at Belfort again.

The worst experience ever!! We bought a small sectional w/ a chaise but was delivered w/o the chaise. Apparently the sales person forgot to order that piece and it would take another month or so to get it. The sales person did admit to her mistake and apologized and said she'll put a rush for the missing piece. Next, we bought a another larger sectional. The day before it was supposed to be delivered we received a call saying the manufacture sent the wrong item and that they couldn't deliver the item. He said he'll put the order in again and deliver will be the same as if we just put in the order today (another 4-12 weeks wait). He said that he will let our sales person know about the issue. So we thought we would get a call from the sales person, but we didn't. We were annoyed as no one from Belfort sales called to acknowledge the problem or offer to put a rush on the order or even provide us a loaner (we moved into a new house and we have NO furniture) or even offer to deliver the of the order that was correct. This was the second order Belfor messed up and we were getting less patient. So, we tried to cancel our order as they just don't seem competant....esp since messing up both our orders within a month of each other and we just didn't have any confidence in them and it it became a big head ache. So after several calls to customer service and speaking to the store manager, we still couldn't cancel our order. The manager said that he couldn't cancel the order. However, the fine print on the invoice said that at the discretion of the manager purchases can be cancelled. It was just an overall bad experience and an especially bad customer service experience...they seem nice at first and are read take your money, but after they make the sale, they don't care if you get your furniture, if it's the right one or when you get it. In the meantime, we're still sitting on the floor waiting for our furniture.

Nearly 4 or 5 month back we purchased the complete living room set from them and with in a month the Sofa and chase gives a problem. So we call the customer service and they send us a guy after 2 week and left without telling us what is a reason, when I talk to their warranty specialist "Mike" he told me that this is a spring problem because of abuses use, I told him the guy took the pic and nothing else he told me that my staff is my eye and by pic we know what is a problem.Than I talk to Rene from customer care and she told me that she will send third party to take a look. the guy come and told me that this is not a spring problem, this is a basically a Cushion problem. After 3 week I called Customer care and they told me that we are checking with Manufacturer and will get back to you. Final decision is that this is customer problem nd we can not do any thing, do what you want to do.SO I request all of you to buy from some nice store and also state department has to come and make some checks on these guys to make some quality instead of a huge profit. I am sure that the guy who gave them more than 3 start is sure their employee.

I purchased a mattress and box springs from this store for $899 (Should have priced around because they were three hundred dollars less down the road for the same brand/model), they delivered the mattress in a uhaul truck (?!) and the two people putting the frame together didn't put the frame together correctly, so I laid in the bed and CRASH! Ripping the bottom fabric and some of the side fabric. I call Belfort. It takes them a WEEK to come back and fix the frame. Leaving us with no bed for a week!!! No apology, nothing. Save yourself the hassel, go elsewhere. They look impressive with their big furniture center, but I was not impressed with the entire process.

First I purchased a bedroom set from them which went well. Then I purchased a glider chair and ottoman for the nursery which didn't go well. First, the bed slat broke so they had to send someone out to take pictures since its a manufacturer's defect. I was suppose to receive a call the night before as to what time he would show up. No phone call, he just showed up! I had a call about 2 weeks ago arranging the chair delivery so I scheduled it. I sold the old glider in the nursery the day the new one was to show up. No one showed up. So, now I have no chair to rock my baby to sleep! Not only that but when I purchased the furniture it was suppose to be a 12 month no interest. When I called to see what happened to the chair and ottoman they told me if I wanted to pay the balance they can schedule delivery. I explained that it was 12 month no interest which they had no record of - that was the only condition I had to purchase the furniture. I wasn't desperate to buy any type of furniture. They company is not together. I had also called around and found the chair/ottoman cheaper in Maryland where I wouldn't of had to pay any sales tax for the same furniture. Belfort matched the price but refused to credit back the amount for sales tax. I say purchase from a store in a neighboring state that doesn't have so many issues.

If you are looking to buy furniture at any price point this is the place to start. They have three different price points to chose from so you can choose which gallery to look at and don't have to fill like the sales people are pushing you to buy something out of your price range. The downside is this is a little out of most people's way and its the only location but with so much to choose from it is great. Also if you order something that needs to be assembled they do that as part of the delivery fee which I thought was great.

They carry a large number of manufacturers furniture including Pennyslvania House, Ashley, and Clayton Marcus. They run big sales in August and we just love their furniture. Delivery is timely. The only glitch I've had was with a hole in a pillow - the manufacturer delayed getting this fixed and then Belfort delayed it over the holiday. Still, recommended for value and choices.
