I have had hundreds of massages. Very few would I say were "perfect"...this was one of them. I have already scheduled my next massage!

I can judge a business and their practices as well as the next person. I hold all businesses and services to the same standard: Am I getting the best services for my money. This includes not only the product or service itself, but also the business environment, the staff's professionalism (or the lack thereof), all of which will determine whether or not I choose to return. In the end, if I'm made to feel welcome and comfortable, it's worth the money and I'll go out of my way to thank the management and staff appropriately. As well, I communicate my dissatisfaction if I receive poor service or less than standard services. In this case, I'm taking the opportunity to give a "gold star" to Kneading Therapy. Once I find a service provider who excels at what they do, I'm only too glad to share this information with others, if only to save them time and effort in seeking out one on their own.

Kneading Therapy was above all clean, an absolute must in my book. It's obvious the management has set very high standards for the business. If the facilities are in any way unsanitary, I head the other way!! This is particularly true of any establishments that relate to health services.

My massage therapist was careful to discern any problem areas with which I was having issues and addressed them accordingly. Having had massage therapy on a regular basis for many years, I feel I'm an adequate judge of the quality of the service. She was nothing but professional and skilled at her craft.

My experience with this establishment was easily worth what I paid, and I will be returning as I feel they maintain professional standards above the norm.

Dear ?needamassage?, As the owner of Kneading Therapy and a trained massage therapist myself, I would like to have the opportunity to speak to your review of our massage practice. First, you claim to have had carpel tunnel pain when booking your appointment but scheduled a different service, the Stressbuster Massage. Why did you not schedule the Carpel Tunnel service that we offer? Most trained therapist would know to communicate during their service to receive the desired result from their massage. It sound as if you did not follow this golden rule. A good therapist certainly knows that body pain that has developed over time seldom is ?erased? with just one single hour of massage therapy. It is a process. A trained massage therapist would also know that using elbows and knuckles is standard technique for a therapist when performing Deep Tissue or Neuromuscular work, which is what our Stressbuster Massage offers. As a trained therapist, you certainly would know that most massage therapist take only four clients a day as to not damage their own bodies, as the work is very physical and demanding. All the therapist at Kneading Therapy are trained and certified through the Virginia Board of Nursing. We are proud to say that we offer a very diverse and well trained staff of therapist who come to us from all across America, and with them they bring a wide array of techniques and experience to offer our clients. We have seen many of our clients benefit greatly from massage therapy at our practice, and hope that you too will find the relief that you are seeking for your carpal tunnel pain. Sincerely, C. LeRoy NCMT

Pros: Ample parking, gift certificates for all occasions, clean, convenient location, great web site.

Cons: none

Background: I've had many massages, and am trained therapist myself.
I felt this spa was misleading. I went in for a "Stress buster" I specifically needed some relief from carpal tunnel. I walked into that massage in pain, and left in pain. The therapist gave me a typical spa massage, rubbed oil on me with very little pressure. When she did apply pressure, she didn't know how to do it, she seemed to have very little knowledge of the muscles, she used her elbows and knuckles, it felt like I was being pinched and was very uncomfortable. The girl seemed tired and overworked, I'm sure she had already done several massages that day so I don't blame her, but that certainly was NOT a medical massage, as I was told it would be.
If you are looking for a relaxing Swedish massage, this spa is fine. But if you need something more specialized, look elsewhere.

I like the accessibility of this business for those of us on the West End. Massage is what they do, and they do it well. I can usually make an appointment fairly quickly, and each masseuse has been very accommodating to me. I also have been given useful information from several of them which suggests to me that they are very knowledgeable!
