My husband happened to find Founders one day when we were walking around Alexandria. We both enjoyed delicious dinners, great beer made on the premesis and for dessert, chocolate mousse made with beer made on site. We'd love to go back again!

PROS: Good food and beer.
CONS: Parking might be a challenge.

There is nothing really special about this place, even the in-house beer is just okay. Not bad for Happy hour if you have a group...the appetizers are okay. The unique beers are worth a try if you are into different brews. But do not go for the food, especially to their brunch. There are many better places at less expensive prices to have a nice brunch. Worth a stop on a crawl through Old Town, but not for dinner.

Founders is a favorite of ours because of their good beer and there is never a wait, even on a Friday or Saturday night! They have a couple unique menu items (the Blackened Tuna Club with Sweet Potato Fries is amazing!), and good happy hours on Thursdays. It's a great place to have a party or private gathering, as they have a upstairs loft, overlooking the bar that is almost always available. The atmosphere is a little bland, but the service is decent. They have a Sunday brunch too that isn't packed and not too expensive. Try it and have the Tuna club!

PROS: great beer, good food, never a wait
CONS: atmosphere

Founders restaurant has a great menu, with good in-house brewed beer as well. With items ranging from sandwiches to steaks, you can find anything on the menu. Most items are reasonably priced, but I can't really say that it's 'cheap eats'.

Happy Hours vary from day to day, ranging from 1/2 priced appetizers to wings. They typically have beer specials during the early evenings as well. They also have a Sunday brunch which includes made to order eggs and waffles.

Parking may be an issue as it's located smack dab in the middle of King Street in Old Town Alexandria. Either look around for some nearby street parking, or find a garage.
