The new owners of the motel have tons of experiences with traveling around the country and world. They have 12 kids too!!! They are extremely friendly and helpful. They have flat screen tvs in all the rooms, which are an upgrade. They even have a complimentary DVD selection! My wife and I stayed there at an extremely low rate for a week. They even have Military discount! The facilities are well kept and working, did not have a single problem at all.

While vacationing in up state Vermont, we would not think of staying anywhere else but the Swanton Motel. Surrounded by beautiful flower gardens, we discovered this little gem years ago and have been coming back ever since. The owners and managers are so friendly and go out of their way to make your stay as pleasant as possible.
This quaint motel has rooms that are clean and comfortable. Mornings are great with fresh brewed coffee from our in room coffee maker. Another plus is the in room refrigerator, which is so convenient for keeping our food and drinks cold. To top it all off, there is a crystal clear outdoor swimming pool to cool off in the hot summer months. Outdoor chairs and small tables are set up right in front of your motel room door. What a great place!! We meet people from all over the country who stay here every year. We highly recommend it!! My only advice is to book early because it is such a great place.

Pros: clean rooms, excellent service, outdoor pool in the summer months

Cons: none

We've been coming to the Swanton Motel for several years now and wouldn't think of staying at any other place. The rooms are "always" very CLEAN (and I mean CLEAN) and comfortable. The rooms are good size and equipped with a refrigerator, coffee maker, coffee and hairdryers. They provide you with coffee cups and glasses not stryofoam. When we need a microwave it's there. There are chairs and a table outside each room where you can sit outdoors and relax. The owner and manager are extremely accommondating, friendly and polite. You can always enjoy a nice conversation with them or just have a quiet, relaxing stay if that's what you're looking for. An added value is the outdoor pool which is clean and refreshing. We bring our boat and they've always accommondated us with parking and electricity. This year we've had 3 seperate trips to the area and stayed 4 or 5 days each time and wouldn't think of staying anywhere else.
If you're looking for a "GREAT VALUE", "CLEAN ROOM" and "FRIENDLY SERVICE" this is your place. You'll look forward to going back as we do.

Cons: I have none

This motel is a small, quaint, owner on site and owner maintained in a village in northern, VT. The rooms are clean and cheerful. It is an older motel, but this adds to the character of the establishment. Of course the pool is not open in the winter- outdoor pool....Vermont......I would assume it would be iced over. The pool is a pleasant place to spend a summer day, surrounded by a lovely garden and many flowers. I would choose this motel over any chain motel.

Pros: clean- quaint-small town flavor

Cons: no continental breakfast

I priced just about every motel within a 50 miles radius,. I needed to be in Hygate for the weekend. Unfortunately there was a graduation in Burlington, and some kind of a marathon in a nearby town, so motels were mostly booked in Burlington and Saint albans. I found the Swanton Motel and it had a nice website, which gave it some credulity. I called and was asured that the rooms were no pets and no smoking which I really appreciated. I called and got a price of $69.99 plus tax. there was no getting any discounts from these people. I decided to go for it even though I was offered a nice fancy room at the Hygate B&B for the same price, mainly because the Swanton motel had a pool. When I got there, I was immediately dissappointed. Although the rooms were clean as advertised, They were old! The rooms really need updating. Some paint, modern appliances. the TV was old and small. The toilet was out of date and kept plugging up. When I called the front desk, the owner asked: " How about if I bring you a plunger."
No attempt to unplug it, I had to do it. The walls must be very thin because My daughter and I were awakened both nights several times by TV, talking and banging in adjoining rooms. Both nights I had a poor nights sleep. These were absolutely $30 rooms, that they charged $70 for. Service was poor. I have stayed in thousands of motel and hotel rooms across the country and never have I been told "How about I bring you up a plunger." The plumbing in the bathroom is way outdated. I tried to take a bath, and the tub doesnt hold water, the drain plug don't work. but it didnt make any difference because the water got called and stopped every few minutes. I would not come back to this motel at any price!
