Ed appeared kind and knowledgeable about the M1 Garand he was selling at a show I attended in November at White River Junction, VT. The rifle had a problem with the charging handle and he had the repair done promptly and assured us it was a very good shooting rifle. After getting it home. cleaning and greasing it we took it to our range. The rifle failed to extract the casing after the first shot, ripping the rim off of the cartridge instead. We took it to a gunsmith who specializes in Garands and after inspecting the rifle told us the chamber was pitted beyond repair, brass was fire-forming into the pits and jamming, and the rifle needed a new barrel. We called Ed, who wanted nothing to do with it at all. He told me he and a friend inspected the bore and it was fine so "just have a new barrel installed the Garand is worth at least twice what you paid for it anyway" then hung up on me after arguing for a while. Didn't even want to hear about helping us resolve the problem. So if your shopping for any antique in the Vermont area don't trust this man or his wife. They will take your money then tell you its your problem and there's nothing they will do to help rectify the situation.

Good deals are to be found here. There is a great selection of antiques. I purchased some old maple syrup buckets. The prices are reasonable and the best part is looking at all the memories.
