I have gone to Jones and Co. for a long time as they are the only pet store in or around Marysville that carries VERY high quality grain free cat and dog food. One brand of wet cat food is priced lower here than the producer's website. They also carry a specialty cat litter, (Precious Cat) that I need for my cat that has litter box issues, at half the price of another local pet store (not a chain). I have never had a bad experience here and I go at least monthly. I am glad that this store does not accept cats or dogs or sell them. They do not have the facility, staff or necessary skill to manage that type of situation, that is what local shelters are for and why Jones and Co works with them. I work at a shelter and I appreciate Jones and Co's policy. I am also very pleased they don't buy and sell animals from breeders.

I have shopped at this store a few times, for some items I can find them cheaper by going to pet smart and petco, but I have to say I really like their policies on getting pets. Unlike so many other stores I have seen various pets, especially birds, this company requires you get to know your new bird before you can purchase, and if they do not feel you have the ability to give it a good home, they can refuse to allow you to buy it. Some people may see this as a problem, but it only becomes a problem when people purchase a pet, decide after the fact they don't like it, or the pet don't like them, that they dump it, either in a shelter, or release it. Too many rescues have shown me how ill mannered alot of people can be towards a pet they don't understand, or are not ready to take on, and with man of the larger birds, its a life time pet, as they can live upwards of 75 years old. I like their supply of foods, and feel you can find the right person who cares enough to show you the different foods available, yet give you a reasonable choice of what you want to feed. I have tried many of their sample bags for my animals, and this last time, they made some recommendations, as they felt my dog had allergies, or bad reaction to the food I had been feeding, regardless of the fact that it was a high quality food, so I switched to a less expensive brand with less additives and found withing days my dog no longer has the constant urge to itch all the time. There is some lacking in the store as some have stated, but it is a small organization, and unlike places like Petsmart or Petco, they don't have the highest backing of the big retailers, but that allows them to excel in their knowledge to helping the customer with what they need. Sometimes that does mean having to wait an extra 5 minutes for help

My granddaughter pets the store cat all the time and he is a real sweetheart! It appears to me that he makes himself scarce or finds a high spot when he has had enough for the day. My granddaughter is good with animals and 8 years old. I wouldn't have ever considered letting a 2 year old go after a cat. The cat must have been cornered because he is NOT aggressive. I'm glad the kid was OK but might I suggest she keep him in a cart or get a leash for kids.

I have been to the store for years. The cat is not aggressive. My kids are well mannered and have never had any problem with the cat. We say hello and are respectful to his personal space. If your child isn't under your parental control and guidance maybe you shouldn't bring them into a store. Jones and Co is a pet store not a free for all for un-mannered kids whose parents don't know how to parent them. I would have scratched too. I hope the child who got scratched is okay. The parent should be ashamed.

Recently, I purchased a light fixture for my saltwater tank from Jones and Co. Being a fairly expensive fixture I had some concerns about getting it home and having something wrong with it so I asked Jenette if it would be ok to take it out of the packaging and test it out. Not only was it ok but she did it for me,PRIOR to the purchase! Are you kidding? Try that anywhere else and see what you get.

I WAS a customer at Jones & co. Pets but the day I stopped was the day the Pet Store Pet (the cat) scratched my sons eye. He wasn't hurt bad thank God. But nobody bothered to ask if he was ok or anything. I myself was to upset to say anything to anyone but before I left the store I stopped by the desk up front and put my son on it to check his eye that he couldn't open, mind you he is only 2 years old. Nobody said ANYTHING. I left and went to my car and called the store and explained what just happened and right away the lady said "Well he shouldn't be chasing the cat" he wasn't I said and she just kept defending the cat not at all asking if he was ok or not. I WANT THE CAT OUT OF THE STORE so that he can't scratch another child and really hurting him or her. I refuse to shop there again but as a parent I am afraid that he will do this again and hurt a little someone. No matter if he gets chased or not this shouldn't happen. I also went back to the store to get the number for their head office and the answer was " we don't have one." LOL I haven't heard of such a thing. There's at least the number to the owner or something.

The employees are not friendly or helpful. They do not allow customers to use restrooms, even though I was purchasing over $100 worth of merchandsie. They send customers to Value Village. The only advantage is that they have reasonable prices and a good assortment.

I recently purchased a Long-Tailed Grass Lizard from them, and it has been two months since. I am very satisfied with the quality of their care. My lizard is doing better then any other reptile I have ever had. I would recommend this pet store to anyone else. The only flaw I could find was that it took longer then necessary to get someone to assist us. Besides that, though, great all-around store!

I worked for Jones and Co for 1.5 years in the back room as a receiver. I can say without a doubt that ABSOLUTELY NO ANIMAL RESEARCH IS EVEN CONSIDERED THERE! Please listen to me. Lizzy is someone I worked with and also Robin. The man who owns this store and the people who work there are the biggest animal lovers I have ever met. You should see what we had to deal with when I worked there. People dropped off kittens in a pillow case at the back door on a hot summer day and then call hours later and tell us they were there. We would open the store in the morning and there would be two gallon buckets filled with fish sitting in front of the door. There were two teenagers that brought a kitten in and dropped it on the floor in the back of the store and left. My friend now has that kitten because I cared enough to take it and find it a home. Everyone there makes those kind of efforts on daily basis. Anyone who has a problem with the fish policy I can tell you this, read it and follow it before you buy a fish. Otherwise your just ignorant. I am very happy that I got to work there and have such a great experience. You all should be so lucky to work with people with such big hearts. Thanks!

Over the years I have bought quite a few fish from here and on seperate occasions 2 have died. I took them back with my water sample (which they tested in front of me) and they had NO PROBLEM refunding my $. The last four fish I got from there are very healthy and happy.
I have been really happy with their CUSTOMER SERVICE also. Especially 2 of the women that work there, (I don't know their names but they have worked there forever) they have spent alot of time explaining dog treats and toys and the different kinds of cat food to help me make decisions on what to buy. I also had a dog toy (a cell phone that rings) that broke a few days after I bought it. I took it back and they were going to refund me with no problem...but I actually wanted to exchange it cuz my dog LOVED the toy. The girl spent 15 minutes looking all over the store to find another one for me. I actually drive all the way from Arlington TO Marysville (I pass at least 3 other pet stores) just to go there! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!

I too had a bad experience just like Bruce T. I spend probably about $100 a month there on buying the best dog food I can buy. This time I bought a few fish. Clearly by the time I had gotten home, something was wrong with one of them. The next morning, all was left was a piece. I called the next day and the person that greeted, told me to bring it in with my water. They didn't test my water or anything. Made me wait 10 minutes. Made a couple comments about "not sure" "not a whole fish". Then told me she would not return it. I asked for a Manager. Sorry, she was it. Now, I'm always a firm believer of supporting family owned businesses, but this kind of service is unacceptable. It's a buck or two fish! Come on! I'm now going to email the distributer of my select dog food to see if they can distribute it somewhere else in Marysville. I will never go back there. It doesn't matter how good of a customer you are. THEY JUST DON'T CARE!! I will go somewhere else where they actually TRAIN people customer service and don't waste my time.

Jones & Company is the only pet store around that has a large variety of GOOD-FOR-YOUR-PET foods at reasonable prices. They carry all the grain-free Wellness canned cat foods I have a hard time finding elsewhere. They also carry the Vita-Kitty chicken-strip snacks--one of the few without grains and by products on the market (and also hard to find elsewhere). By-product free, grain-free kitty dental treats are also on their shelves. I'd love to find a store closer to my home to get what I need for my cat, but Jones & Co. is the ONLY store around that has it. Thank you, Jones & Co. Please don't stop being what you are to the regional community of pet-lovers. You've got the rest beat by a country mile, and we love you for it!!

My name is Robyn. I have been employed by Jones & Co. Pets for ten years. I have shopped here longer than that. I have watched Lizzy grow up and become a beautiful, ambitious and very responsible young woman.
The biggest reason I have been here for this long is that ALL of the people in this store CARE about what happens to our animals! We consider them our children! I can assure you that all of us would quit in a heartbeat if we thought that any of these animals were going to research. Most of the employees and the owners have all taken in animals that were left to die in our dumpsters or out in the freezing cold in the middle of the winter. We should all have the nickname "Noah". Plenty of us spend most of our paychecks here to keep our animals happy and healthy. I have purchased items for customers out of my own pocket when I thought that their animal needed something and the customer could not afford it. Our pet manager has taken in hundreds of birds and other animals over the years that have been neglected, abandoned, or abused. The store manager has taken home kittens that would have been put down because they had heart murmurs and had to be handfed. Nine years ago, I took two two-week old kittens home that two little boys found in a woodpile. Their parents would not let them keep them. They are now both nine years old and over 17 pounds each. These are the very few examples of our caring employees.
We all work very hard to keep our animals and store in great condition. We have one of the best fish return policies around. Most places have return policies of less than a week and you STILL have to have acceptable water conditions to get credit or replacement. Acceptable criteria are posted in our fish room. We will also test your water for free. If you are not sure if the water conditions in your tank/pond etc. are safe please let us test it BEFORE you purchase a fish. That way we will all be happy in the long term.
Granted, we probably aren't perfect, but we do try. Jones & Co. Pets does not take in or sell dogs and cats. We bring in cats from two local pet shelters and adopt them out of our store for a fee that goes to the shelter. Jones & Co. employees maintain the cats at the owners expense. They are only adopted to homes strictly approved by these shelters. Jones & Co. tries to do its part to keep these cats out of pounds and other places where they may be euthanized. We have a commitment to these shelters and that is why we do not take in cats.
We sell birds, small animals, some exotic small animals (when we can find a good source), reptiles, and freshwater and saltwater fish and corals/invertebrates.
We have a wonderful selection of high quality pet foods, bling-bling, and drygoods for all of your small animals, reptiles, birds, fish, and of course dogs and cats.
Please come and visit us.
Robyn

Jones & Co Pets in Marysville, WA doesn't take in OR sell dogs or cats. Their rodent and small mammal assortment is limited, as is their reptile offering. I guess I don't understand what, exactly, they are supposed to be reselling?
Jones & Co has one of the best assortments of dog and cat food around, and carry more premium and super premium brands than almost any other store north of Seattle. For that alone, they are to be commended.

I bought 2 Shubunkin fish on 7/5/07 and 7/8/07 one of them died. I brought a sample of the pond water and the dead fish back for another fish. The manager tested the water and all tested good except the PH level was 8.2. When I tested it at home it tested 8. My pond test kit still lists that as acceptable. The store manager refused to give me another fish or give my money back. She asked about the pond water temperature and then said that the water PH and temperature has to be exactly the same as their tanks in the store. The receipt doesn't list that. It states that the fish have a 14 day replacement and the water test must test suitable levels. Mine did but she refused to replace the dead Shubunkin. The fish was $12.99 but the point is they will do anything to get out of refunding your money or replacing your fish. I have 2 Koi and10 Gold fish and now 1 shubunkin in my pond and they are all doing fine. Don't buy any fish in this store because they will do anything to get out of refunding your money or replacing your fish. Buy your fish at PETCO at least they are fair with their returns.

I needed a divider to put in the back of my car to keep my dog out of the front and back seat. The gentleman at Jones & Company Pets in Marysville took the time to walk me to the product and how to assemble it. While he brought the divider from the back, I was able to have a dog tag engraved for my dog.
