Dr Larson is a first class vet - genuine, empathetic; he truly cares about his patients and their 'parents'. A few years ago our 14 yo Schnaeuzer suddenly began having continuous seizures. Dr Larson met us at the clinic at 11pm and spent close to an hour doing a thorough workup before putting her on anti-seizure medication. He went far beyond the call of duty tending to our beloved pet, discussing our options and calming our anxieties. We now have 2 more fur kids and South Hill Vet is the only place they'll be going for medical issues. We also love their new climate controlled boarding facility. The entire staff is very caring and professional. Penny & Jean are THE BEST receptionists - very competent, knowledgable and friendly. We LOVE Dr Larson and the staff at South Hill Vet.
My dogs have been patients at South Hill for at least 5 years and I have many friends that use this same clinic. The facility is newly-remodeled and absolutely beautiful. All equipment is updated and state-of-the-art. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. However, along with the remodel, the clinic has gotten too large (too many doctors and staff) and it has lost its personal touch. Now it seems I am scheduled to see a different vet every time, and there are always new faces at the reception desk. I no longer feel as if though they really care about my dogs. On my last visit, my dog had bloodwork done at my request, and their office NEVER called to give me the results. I have recently found a new vet and am much more happy. Customer service is HUGE in my book.

This place is great. They are kind of tucked away behind the mall, but they are really great. They have pet boarding as well, but both boarding and veterinary services are great. The people really know what they are talking about and don't try to push something on you. You can be sure you are getting a good price for a great service. Go here if you can
PROS: Great service and fair prices
CONS: Hard to get to and not very well known
