YUMMMMMM

by Hanlen O.

I'm dangerously addicted to their butter chicken and garlic Nan, but the this about this restaurant that makes it my favorite is their AMAZING CH AI TEA and the fact that refills are FREE!! Affordable, fast, pleasant service, this place is perfect for a large parties.

SAVE YOUR MONEY!!!

by Anonymous

Incredible food!!! Amazing!! Completely unethical ownership. 2 things they will not tell you that you should know!

1.) Soda refills are NOT free. They will cost you 2.50 per refill and when you see the highball glass you will know it isnt worth that!

2.) The wait staff DOES NOT keep their tips. They are not allowed to. The house takes ALL tips as added revenue. If you do not believe me, ask your waitress or waitor at the end of your meal if he gets the tip! They are instructed not to tell the customer at any point but it is illegal to lie about such things if asked directly.

So go there and enjoy their incredible food but scowl at the shady business practices that the owner encourages to make more money!!!! It's full blown stealing!

delicious Indian food

by m m. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 5,145

I love Cedar's restaurant, and go there almost every week. I have never met a person who does not like their food. The service is a little quirky, but the owner's wife is especially nice. They refill your water so quickly that I bet you can't drink the whole glass before they refill!

PROS: delicious
CONS: quirky service

Eat and go away!!

by p o.

This used to have good food, but the quality has declined rapidly in the last year or so.

This is THE WORST place to go for a relaxing meal near UW. The servers and owner hover over your table, grabbing plates as soon as they're empty and bringing the bill as soon as the last plate is gone -- then hovering some more until it's paid and you leave. It could be helpful if you have small children, but it's annoying if you want to enjoy the meal on a date.

It used to be that the food was good enough quality to put up with the rushed service, but no longer. To some that's great service - to me it's rude and annoying.

We switched to getting take out to avoid the wait staff and owner, but after 2 errors on two take out meals, we will never return to this establishment. Mohammed and his crew are not worth your money any more. Better to take it to Himalaya Sherpa or Taste of India a few blocks away. (though quality of food at Taste of India appears to be in slow decline as well)

PROS: 2 for 1 coupons in the paper
CONS: bad food, rushed service, very unpleasant experience

Great chicken

by Katie C. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,231

Cedars has some really good dishes. What stands out in my mind is the tandoori chicken, a chick pea curry, and a delicious yogurt drink. What I also remember, however, is that the restaurant doesnt have the best service. I remember seeing stressed out servers and feeling a bit of tension between them and the management. That said, if you can deal with it, the foods worth it.

the wrong Cedars location?

by J W. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 993

How two Cedars Restaurant locations that are so close to each other could be so different is beyond me... While the small, original location on 43rd Street has great falafel, the big location on Brooklyn is not nearly as good.
I thought I might be imagining that until I read a review of local falafel restaurants in The Stranger which said basically the same thing.
This one's a much bigger restaurant, probably more expensive (although I can't remember for sure), and the quality of the food disappointed me because I expected it to be like the other Cedars.

Cedars Restaurant

by Casey R. | insider Insider | Rank: 32,479

Cedar's restaurant has a great selection of mediterannean and indian cuisine. I highly recommend the masala, or the falafal plate. One thing's for sure, your water will always be full, as the service is impressive, if overbearing.

Delicious blend of Middle Eastern and Indian

by Rorke H. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 6,820

Cedars on Brooklyn (not to be confused with another restaurant named Cedars just a few blocks away) is arguably the best Indian food in Seattle. On the corner of Brooklyn and 50th St., Cedars is always packed, so be prepared for a wait.

PROS: Excellent food, nice blend of Indian & Middle Eastern
CONS: Crowded/popular, so be prepared for a wait
