My 1st Ever Prom Dress Shopping Experience with my Freshman Daughter and it went Great. The customer Service was good, the choices were good, the prices were Great! We had an eventful time along with my parents. She tried on 3 dresses, chose 1. Altercations are Free! If the Date gets his Tux there they will only charge him $69 and they know what the dress looks like so that his Tux can match perfectley. I do agree that a fresh makeover is needed. Some people handle the dresses too mucha and you can tell but.... they will order the same exact dress if you dont like the one in stock. So overall 4 stars. Good Customers Service, Smart Dress and Tuxedo Advice. Good Times!

This place was HORRIBLE!! Twice we went here and both times, we couldn't get any help, the dresses were stained, two dresses were ripped or the zipper was broken. The sales lady would not help us either time. After muddling through trying on a few wedding dresses (by the way, I had a $1200 budget for a dress - cash), we left and I felt like I should have spray disinfected my entire body! At least a "Thank you for coming"? Nope!!! Nothing. NEVER GO BACK! Sad, they would have had a great sale as well as bridesmaid dresses, tux rentals & flower girls.

My experience at Purple Parasol was awesome. They helped me find every dress I needed for my International Pageant, got everything hemmed and steamed and ready to go for me to carry on the plane. This has been the best customer service yet since I started doing pageants. We will definitely be a returning customer. Thanks PP Staff your the greatest

I purchased several dresses and accessories recently at the purple parasol and my experience was absolutely fabulous. We were treated very well by all of the staff, felt very comfortable, and will definately be back for any future formal wear needs. We actually ordered some things through them as well and they were very timely with our order. I would highly recommend The Purple Parasol for any of your formal wear needs. Team Purple Parasol Rocks!!!!!!

This is the WORST CUSTOMER service I have ever incountered. I have been awaiting my dress for 3 months now, after being guaranted it would take two weeks. My dress did not have to be ordered, just altered. After calling several times I am getting no where except hung up on and told "I've had it with you" The manager Cheryl Bruer and the seamstress Sharlene have got to be the rudest people I have encountered. Including eating in my ear while Im trying to talk on the phone. I am in complete disbelief that this place is even still in busniess. No bride should have any issue's like this what so ever! So if you want a wedding without the dress, and a lot of unnecessary rudness and terible customer service go for it, other wise don't waste your time. I now have no dress! So here I go starting all over again!!!

I went to the Purple Parasol with some hesitation, based on the reviews. But, I assume that the people that reviewed the store have trouble anywhere that they go. I had a wonderful experience, as did my wife. Some of these reviews tell about experiences that they had many years ago, some as long ago as the 1980's! My wife enjoyed the free alterations and I enjoyed the smile on my wife's face as she looked so beautiful at our wedding. I advise that you use your own judgement and go to the store. It seems to me that some people have too much time on their hands and will complain no matter what.

I went in to get my sweet 16 dress and the lady helping me was very helpful. She actually picked out my dress. They helped with the alterations and made me feel welcome. I would highly reccomend going there. David's Bridal doesn't really have the best dresses for sweet 16's.

The owners are very hostile, they will not give your deposit back. Do not go there unless you have a written contract. They tell you one price, but then charge you more. If you rent a tux, they do not give you the deposit back, and they will threaten to press charges if they are not returned inless that a week. Definetly would not recommend them to anyone!

I had a great experience here with my whole wedding party. The only thing I can think about the bad reviews are that these people have problems at all the places they go to and look for trouble. My wedding dress was from here, bridesmaids dresses, tuxes, flower girls, etc. Almost all were altered and fit fine...there was a bridesmaid dress that needed an extra fitting to make it fit just right, but that's to be expected. No bridezilla here! Try them out with an open mind not looking for trouble and you will be happy! Will be back for my cruise dress this summer.

I have purchased a few dresses from The Purple Parasol and have had a great experience with them. I am a senior and this year and for our homecoming my freind and I decided to take a trip to portland for a dress. After a day of shopping in the big city we had found nothing, devestated, we came back the next day to tri cities and found purple parasol. i found the perfect dress within 15 minutes of my arrival. The dress i found was custom altered and fit me perfect within the next day. Later on in the year when Prom came around i needed another dress, I knew PP would be there for me. i knew that i could find a beautiful dress within my budget and that if it didnt fit me perfect they could make changes. But this year i wanted something a little different, i wanted black satin gloves to go with my dress, This was hard for me to find but PP had exaclty what i wanted. They were perfect for my dress and the ladies in there are absolutely awesome and very helpfull with all of my unique needs. I would suggest PP to anyonee that asked me, and i do quite often. Sometimes i stop in just too look around and say hello and they will always have my business, and my freinds and family! Thank you Purple Parasol!

If you enjoy being treated like crap then go on, head over to this store. I decided to go into the store even though I knew that the women were old and rude but it was a last resort and I gave in. Upon arriving at the store the whole esthatic is non appealing. The store is old musty dirty and crowded. The ladies in there were horribly rude. They were very forceful in there suggestions and openly mean to your face. They have no skills in customer care and humanly kindness. Over all the place is old along with the employees in it who are just grouchy old ladies. Do not shop here I would recommend Image, the owner is very friendly and the store is clean and youthful.

AVOID this place at all cost! I actually wrote a nice review for this placeat one time. I had previosly only dealt with them for Prom gowns. Then I made the mistake of going there for a WEDDING dress as a return customer for my soon to be daughter in law. I apoligize to anyone that read my review and went there. If you cant take my word for it or all the other horrible reviews please do yourself a favor and check with the local police and BBB. I will NEVER be going there again... there are MANY other places in this area where you can find a very nice wedding gown. My daughter is getting married this year and we have four more weddings in the family. Purple Parosol is no longer an option and we found her dress at Davids Bridal. It was a great experiance. And for you ladies at Purple Parasol... We spent over a THOUSAND and will be spending ALOT more within the next month buying all the other dresses there as well as all the gowns for the brides maids and tuxes for the grooms and grooms men for all the weddings. Was your RUDENESS over my soon to be daughter in law wanting to try her dress on again worth it? We have thousands budgeted for this wedding and FOUR more comming up.... You wont be seeing money in your store from any of it! I also have a large amount of friends and a very big family, extended family and more. You have lost ALL of our bussiness... : ) Was it worth it?

The Purple Parasol has a great selection of gowns, but that where the positives end. Please, please, DO NOT have your alterations done through them. I read these reviews before scheduling my alterations and despite the bad reviews and against my MOH advice, I had my dress altered by Purple Parasol. All I can say, is I shouldve listened. I believed them when they said the side seams were free, i believed them when they said it would cost over $300 to alter it somewhere else. I believed them when they told me these bad reviews are bogus and written by the company who manages reviews so they can make more money by offering to remove the negative ones for a fee. As a result, the hem was puckered and the bustle im not sure could even be considered a bustle. They charged me $164 for a hem and bustle. I took it to Gloria at Classic Monogram Alterations on Canal Dr. and Washington to redo the bustle. She is amazing and sweet woman. She charged $32! Bottom line it wouldve cost me $60-70 had i went to her first and it wouldve been done right the first time.

Personally, I'm wondering who these idiots are that have so much time on their hands to write such terrible things. Last week a Muslim woman went into the store because she went to David's bridal looking for a dress and they told her that they had no dresses in the store that would fit her size 8 frame. Obviously they had dresses to fit her but it was simply because she was Muslim. I am proud to shop at the Purple Parasol because I know that it is owned by woman who genuinely care about my wedding experience and they are not prejudice and are NOT rude. Purple Parasol has been in business for 30 years. Do terrible businesses stay in business for that long?
I do not have time sit around all day and write bad reviews about people, but obviously the people that have written bad reviews do have a lot of time on their hands.

I will agree that the building is old and it needs new paint. But the helpfulness that you get far outweighs its appearance.
I hope this review has been helpful. I have been very happy with my experience there.

I was in my friends quince and she ordered our dresses from there and hers too and everytime we went in there for fittings the laddies that work there couldn't have been nicer and then when one of the dresses got messed up they fixed it for us that day and were extremely nice about it and apologizing. I now go back there proms, my sweet 16, and homecomings and love it.

These ladies that run this place need to crawl back under the rock they came from and start over.
I had to be fitted for a bridesmaid gown that I wasn't ordering myself--the bride was handling those purchases on the east coast for us--and after explaining to the consultant that I wasnt purchasing a gown in her store, she wouldn't fit me without charging me $10! Are you kidding me?? It takes 5 minutes of your time to measure me and you want to charge? I felt like I was being punished. Ladies--avoid this place at all costs.

I have never had a bad experience with these women. I started buying my gowns there in spring 2004. Every time I go into the store, I always leave with the exact gown I need (which is wonderful because I'm in between plus and regular sizes). When I wear the gowns, I always receive compliments on how I look and how gorgeous the dresses are. I even wore one of my gowns when I sang for royalty in Europe last year.
As for "rude" women, I have never been mistreated in any way. They were kind to me when I first went in with my mother looking for my first gown, and they are always willing to bend over backwards to help me. The women have kept the store open for me multiple times. A few years ago, I brought them a necklace I'd been given (that didn't match anything I owned), and the owners helped me find a great gown to go with it. When people say the ladies were rude/unhelpful, I have to wonder if there wasn't some sort of rudeness on the customers' part that led to them being "mistreated".
Like I said earlier, I've bought my gowns there for years. I have over 10 gowns from this store. This is honestly one of the best stores nationwide. I've looked in bridal stores across the country and have yet to find a shop Iike it.

The worst company is the Tri- Cities!! I have never never been treated so bad by a bunch of old B!@#&%! in my life time.

I ordered my bridemaids dresses from there and my daugher's who is my maid of honor came in the wrong flippin color!!! I went and tried to be really nice about it and they did NOTHING for me. My mom and friend Olivia also went and they were flippin RUDE to us all! After I realized they were going to do nothing for me...I asked the old B!@#! there if I could dye the dress. She then told me that because we had a problem with them, she would not give me advice!! At the point we left! I then found out my mom went in to tell them they needed to call the company they got the dresses from and it shouldn't be on us to call and complain. They then told my mom if she didn't leave they were going to call the cops. Well, I work right down the street and noticed they did call the cops. They also told my mom to NEVER go back into their store! I then had my friend call and request my mom's deposit she made for her dress that still isn't here. They said there was NO way they would refund that money. Go figure...she can't even go back into the store and they won't give her money back!! This store is a bunch of BS!!! Guess I will see them in court

These guys are the best around! They were amazing with my wife, finding the perfect dress from their endless selection. The tuxes for our wedding looked great and the service was outstanding!

Who are these people leaving POSITIVE reviews? Have you NEVER been to a "real" bridal/formal boutique? This place is a joke. It's filthy, needles all over the floor. Frumpy women who make you feel pressured into buying something (they can screw up when they attempt to alter for you). What a ridiculous joke! The joke will NEVER be on me again, or my kids, or anyone that is someone I call a true friend. I would be embarassed to recommend this place and have people think I would ever cause them to fall victim to this store's rude service, overly "tried on" dresses....(ALL of them need repairs of some sort). I've seen better bridesmaid dresses at Goodwill. And that is not at all an exaggeration! If you feel you must go here, get in, get what you want...in your size, and check for wear and tear...DO NOT BUY if you need alterations! I promise you, the positive reviews on here must be written by the owner!

I do not recommend Purple Parsol to anyone. When I was in high school 10 years ago it was the same negative experience. Extremely rude staff, HORRIBLE alterations, and very expensive as well. It is such a shame that we have such limited options in the Tri Cities. do NOT go to this store -- nothing but horrible outcomes, service, and prices.

I do recommend visiting Fashion Corner. Everyone working there is great, particularly Irene who is so warm and friendly. She knows her stuff within the dress industry and is a pro in the entire realm. Fashion Corner is only a few minutes away in Sunnyside. They have a huge selection, great services, amazing alterations, and fantastic prices. FASHION CORNER is AMAZING!

Purple Parosol is HORRIBLE.

I brought my daughter to the Tri Cities from Seattle because her grandmother wanted to buy her her senior prom dress. Although the Purple Parasol did have a large selection of gowns it was not out of the ordinary, and the customer service was poor. The staff was rather unfriendly, giving one the impression they felt they were doing you a favor by serving you. We found much better selection at various quinceniera (sp?) stores in the area and certainly much better service. And then a Facebook recommendation sent us on a road trip to Sunnyside where my daughter found her 'dress heaven' :-)

I just cant beleive the crap that goes on in this store. They are liers, make you pay for things before you see them and are super shaddy. They are so rude and find ways to change the subject when there being questioned for their shaddy work. They are a little nicer when you first come in but at the first dress fitting of my wedding dress they where cold and negligent. Its suppose to be the best and most warm experience of your day but they make you question whether its worth it. The lady tried to tell me it needed additional alterations it didnt which would be expensive because its a Maggie. Bull crap! (This website doesnt let me cuss) it didnt need anything, I did need a bra that would go with the dress and she charged me over 80 dollars for a cheap ass bra i could have gotten at a department store. Sure your saving money on the designer dress but when they start charging rediculous amounts for bras, alterations, sewing, bussol, shoes crowns and veils what are we really saving on. This place isnt worth a crap!!! drive to sunny side or seattle or Marcellas in Spokane...because purple parasol is the worst bridal store in the state

I'm so glad I didn't fall prey to the "contempt prior to investigation" mentality after reading these reviews!!! I took my daughter here in search of a formal ball gown for Homecoming Court. We had a fantastic experience!!! The staff were so sweet and accomodating, the selection was wonderful, the prices are reasonable, the alterations were quick and low priced. I couldn't have asked for a better experience for my daughter or myself!!! The staff went above and beyond in every way!! I will definitely be a return customer for all of my 3 daughters formal attire needs!!!

I am in the midst of a crisis for my best friend's wedding and needed five pairs of shoes re-dyed because they were dyed the wrong color. The owner or whoever I spoke with on the phone said she had 30 years of experience doing what I needed to have done on these shoes (in a short turn time) but she refused to touch someone else shoes because she didn't make a profit on them! She wouldn't even let me pay her to do the work. I asked her "there is no way you will help me?" and she retorted bitterly "Absolutely not!"

I agree with the other reviewers, if you want to get yelled at by a bitter business owner this is who to call. I find it hard to believe that this business has any positive reviews! Also, why isn't there anywhere in the Tri-Cities that will dye shoes?!?

Long story short, don't shop here. Recieved a product that was not what was paid for. Tried to be mature, spoke to the associate and the manager and was yelled at both times. I was told to I was lucky to recieve my product for the price paid and that mismatching articles are common in weddings. PHS Bulldogs need not shop Here, Nor Armed Service Members. I've filed a formal complaint with the BBB armed service branch and Tri-Cities Buisness Bureau. A large majority of the positive reviews listed are by the store owner, please note. YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

I REALLY HOPE ANYBODY CONSIDERING THIS STORE READS THIS REVIEW (AND THE OTHERS) FIRST!!!!! IT KILLS ME TO HAVE TO GIVE EVEN ONE STAR TO THIS STORE. This store does shoddy work. They charge a fortune for their dresses and alterations and do a very unprofessional job. On our bridesmaids dresses a neck strap needed to be shortened. All they did was FOLD IT OVER AND MOVE THE HOOKS. I could have done that for free and saved myself $15 (per dress). They also charged ANOTHER $25 dollars to take the sides in and all they did there is run another seam inside one the dresses leaving about 1 inch of extra material. And on another they cut away the excess material and left a hole on the side of the dress. They also could not find the original sash that went with one of the dresses and tried to pass off a different sash as the original. They make no apologies for their unprofessional and shoddy practice. They should be run out of town on a rail.

Ladies... This store has been in the Tri-Cities for years. This store has had the same issues for years. This store ruined my prom way back in 1989 and offered no help to fix their mistake in the 11th hour before my prom. Yes, the owner still hangs up on you or doesn't call you back. The staff probably still says she is in the Walla Walla store and won't be back until next week. This store still has a blind woman doing alterations and ruins everything she touches. This store still treats you like you aren't worthy of their store. This store hires the worst staff in the state and allows them to talk to you horribly and that's putting in nicely!!!!! They talk down to you in all instances and all transactions whether they think the interaction is going well or going poorly. You will NEVER settle a dispute effectively or fairly with the staff or the owner. Don't ever let them send your shotty alterations back for a re-do because if you think they screwed it up the first time wait for the re-do!!!! The tip of the day ladies.......RUN!!! Don't even bother. Expect poor service, rude employees and manager/owner. Expect horrible alterations and ruined dresses. Don't expect a refund, discount or even free nylons to repay you for the rude comments, ruined dresses, horrible experiences and destroyed life long memories. JUST DON'T GO THERE!!!!! Believe this and all the other postings!!! They don't change!!! It is always going to be the same don't think you will be the one in a million that actually has a good (not excellent) experience!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought my wedding dress from them back in 2002. I honestly wish I had gone somewhere else now that I think about it. They didn't properly adjust my dress to fit me and my sleeves kept falling off my shoulders. In almost all of my wedding photos you can see my bra strap because the dress kept slipping.

I had purchased my wedding gown from the Purple Parasol for my wedding in April. I had placed the order in for a size 6, come to find out at a later date that they had ordered a size 8. I was very irritated that they had not ordered the size I had requested but also that they did it without notifying me. As I expressed that I had asked for size 6 to be ordered they had told me that because I was so tall I needed to have the size 8. When I went in for the fitting of my dress they had to hem the dress because it was to long. This company charged me $200 to hem the dress and the get a bustle shown in. I was paying for a bustle x3, which means that there are 3 points to tie up the train. Upon picking up the dress I did try it on and the seamstress had shown my friend how to tie up the bustle. We had noticed that there was only one string. As it was prom weekend and they were rushing us out of the store we didn??t think much of it and left. Upon wedding day and after the one tie of the bustle had been tied up my dress was dragging the ground 1 feet on the ground. Due to the dress dragging the ground in excess the train had been ripped through the night. When I contacted the owner of the store, Sharline, to express my disappointment and request for a refund, she was very rude and said that they had never given a refund and wouldn??t. She then hung up on me. I tried to call her back to get her name and there was no answer, I used another line to call and she answered, I was trying to get her first and last name so I could submit a complaint and she immediately hung up on me at ??Hi Sharline?. I had tried to call back 3 more times from different phone numbers, as there was no answer on the 2nd call from the same phone number. She continuously hung up on me before I could even ask a question. The professionalism of this business owner is completely inappropriate and unprofessional. I would defiantly appreciate if I spend over $1000 in any one store that the employees and especially the business owner would at least accept my phone call.

The customer service is awful!!! The place has nice looking dresses in the window but many of them inside have stains and look like they've been used. It's so cramped and very old inside and the employees are so rude. The last time I ever went there, one of the gal's reached in and pulled the dress off out from under the girl I was shopping with (while she was in the dressing room which was tiny and only separates you from exposure with a curtain) and told her she was letting it touch the floor..well no duh, it's was a long dress. We left, never to return. They even screwed up my little sisters prom dress trying to alter it and when she told them it was not right and asked them to re-do it they told her that their seamstresses were the best at what they do and that they would not alter the work they had done. In a previous review, one of the girls said how her friend never sewed in her life and they made her do alterations which explains what must have happened to my sister's dress. WORST SERVICE EVER! BUYER BEWARE!!!

It was my first homecoming with a date, so I wanted to find a really special dress. I tried on many, and liked some although it wasn't love. Deaf to my protests, they tried to put me in a lot of things that weren't my style. Because it was the first place I'd gone I wanted to look elsewhere but I felt really pressured and they made me feel like I'd wasted their time. I had been in there less than an hour. So being a little shy, I picked a dress anyway, and had it altered, it needed to be taken a little. I didn't quite fill out the top, but I knew I had a strapless slightly padded bra at home that would help that. I was pretty self conscious about my barely size A chest. They convinced me however, to pay for them to add padding to the top of the dress. When I got the dress back not only had it not been taken in enough in the back, but they had added about two cup sizes to my chest with their padding. I looked awkward and lopsided. Anyone who knew me could tell it was fake, because I was normally a size A and now looked about a C. Plus because of the shoddy alteration my actual chest was falling out anyway. I was too late to change anything, so I was forced to wear the dress as it was. I felt awkward and ugly the whole night. It was a total waste of a lot of money. My date didn't say anything but of course some catty girls did. Even though I had my first kiss that night, I still remember the whole night as a disaster. I cringe when I look at pictures from that night.Overall it was not a fun experience, and even though they are one of the few formal dress places in the area, I won't ever go there again. I'd honestly rather risk shopping on-line.

I was looking for a top to go with my dress. I needed to find one with sleeves to be modest enough for my high school.Since the Tri-Cities is kinda lacking on the formal-wear stores, I tried the purple parasol.First the manager told me not to even bother shopping at her store because I already had a dress. Secondly, she told me I would have to go to a plus size store (I am only a size 12) to find what I was looking for! of all the nerve. They wouldn't give me any help to event try to find a formal jacket.I am sad to even have to give them one star. I am getting married now, and I won't even try to give them my business. I would rather drive 5 hours to Seattle.

To anyone who left negative comments about Purple Parasol, they are so wrong. I went in there looking for invitations but didn't have anymore. So I asked if they had a certain Maggie Sottero gown in stock and to my advantage they did. With out appointment they took me in the back and was able to try it on. I was originally going to get it in the Fashion Corner over in Sunny Side which they didn't even have in stock. The gown was gorgeous and again to my advantage, it was less expensive than the Fashion Corner. But for some reason I wasn't quite convinced with it so I gave the lady what type of gown I was looking for and she pulled out so many that she completely opened up my options. She pulled one out for me but I turned it down, at the end I told her to pull it out again to try on. IT WAS TRUE LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT. I was treated with much respect than any other bridal shop. So I later took in my family and showed it to them, they cried for joy. They were so happy with the gown. The ladies there do an amazing job! They treat me like a queen every time I go there even if I just pop in to ask for a question. My dreams of a perfect bride are coming true all thanks to the staff of Purple Parasol. They do know about exquisite taste and phenomenal customer service. I recommend anyone to go there if they want their dreams to come true for any occasion! I cannot stop thanking them for their magnificent work!Yours truly, The Happiest Bride to be,Maribel Orozco from Kennewick WA.

I went in with my fiance 30 minutes before they closed, i only went in with the intentions to see if they had a maggie sottero dress i was looking for, they didnt have it but she took me to the back room anyway and insisted on showing me dresses that looked like that one, and were in my budget and what i was looking for. I didnt even have an appointment and she took me anyways, although i was in my jeans i didnt have a set appointment so im sure that wont be the case next time i go in, the owner was great, carasmatic, and very insightful and i ended up finding the dress of my dreams...The three ladies that were with me were great, and i would say all these other reviews yeah read them but dont judge them by those reviews, go in and see for yourself there great and i cant wait to have my formal appointment and do busniess with them..Its worth every mile i drove because i am from out of town..

Do I even have to give them 1 star? They don't deserve it. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but after three visits, I know the truth.... they are ALL rude. The owner is a complete B. Rude, unnecessarily. I try to be sweet to people and was given snappy, mean answers. In general, this is the worst customer service I have ever experienced.

I purchased my wedding dress there, although I regret the decision. I would drive hours to give my business elsewhere in the future. As it is, I will drive a few hours for alterations.

I received unbelievable service at The Purple Parasol. (Never going to David's Bridal again!) Their wedding gowns are so unique and are nothing comparable at other bridal shops I've tried on at. They carry so many lines, I was shocked to see their selection! She was very helpful in asking questions in what I was looking for and my budget. She began to tell me that dresses start at $199 and go up to $1,500. It was nice to see that she didn't want to pull anything I couldn't afford. They have every style you could imagine from seeing in bridal magazines. The ladies there made my experience so worthwhile and I really felt like a bride! They are very fun and kept their attention on making sure all my questions were getting answered. They even press your wedding dress for FREE and the alterations are so reasonable. It's unfortunate that all these reviews are negative and probably from people that didn't even buy from them! You don't see people complaining if you get bad service at Macy's. Their dresses are high quality...even when I walked through there prom section, I could see why they have most of their dresses are in bags, so they don't get ruined! I highly recommend The Purple Parasol. The dress I picked is one of a kind, and so is this boutique!

I have been into this store a couple of times for wedding gowns. My opinion on it has never changed. First off, this place is a DUMP! They over price EVERYTHING. Look on line, you will find everything way cheaper. PURPLE PARASOL IS A JOKE.

Determined to find the "perfect" prom dress, I got in my car to make the hour long drive to Tri-Cities to check out Purple Parasol. I went in the store last prom season, and was told that if I couldn't afford a $300 dress to not bother trying it on (I bought a $500 dress from Fashion Corner). With this in mind, I decided to let bygones be bygones and went in with an open mind. I had set my eyes on this gorgeous purple gown (my favorite color) that was in the window. It was a size 10. I am roughly a size 6-8 in dresses. So I politely asked the owner to try on the dress. I had picked out a slim metallic bright turquoise dress that was a size 6 as well. The woman asked if $400 was in my price range and I said yes that was fine. She gave me a disapproving look and said "because if it's not then you wouldn't be allowed to try it on." I reassured her that it was. She guided me into the first dressing room and told me I could leave on my pants and bra but to take off my shirt. I did so and she helped slip the gown over my head. I am cautious about which dresses I try on due to the fact that I have a bit of love around my mid stomach area, so I try not to try on dresses that I know will be unattractive or reveal lumps. This dress had ruching around the middle and some tulle at the bottom. She pulled the dress down and immediately claimed that it did not fit me due to the fact that the inner lining was getting caught on my pants. I suggested taking my pants off and she rudely scuffed that it probably wouldn't help. She said that if I wanted this dress I would need it 2 sizes larger (14). I suggested taking my pants off 3 or 4 times, knowing that the dress would fit me but being denied that it wouldn't help. So I said forget it (a little miffed) and said I would just try on the blue one. She looked at the tag and said that it was even smaller than the one I had just attempted to fit into. And I said " You know what, just forget it." I quickly got dressed after hearing her yell to the woman at the counter if we had the same dress 3 sizes bigger. She unconvincingly said I could try on the purple one again but I declined the offer. I turned to her and said "you know... I've tried on dresses the same size as this blue one and smaller than the purple one, all of which have fit me. The owner of fashion corner, Irene, was a lot more helpful than you have been." I said goodbye to my friend who was in there and walked out the door. I went to my car, vented to my boyfriend, and sat there and cried. I was very upset. Since when has poor customer service, and insulting your prospective buyers been the new standard for businesses? Last time I checked it wasn't. I really did like that purple dress, and would have liked to PROPERLY try it on, but I will not give my business to them. I highly do not recommend them on service, and if you would like to be PAMPERED you should try out Fashion Corner in Sunnyside, and ask for Irene. I felt like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman being denied service. I didn't know that size 14 was the new size 6. I am completely appalled and outraged at how rudely I was treated. If you have a rich parent, make sure you take them. That's the only way to guarantee you will have some mediocre service.

I too went to find my wedding dress a few years back. The service was aweful, the ladies were absolutely beyond rude. I ended up leaving in tears & went to another store, which unfortunately for you newly engaged ladies is out of business, and I had a wonderful experience. I would order my wedding dress out of JCPenny's before I would ever ever ever ever to go P-Parasol again or ever recommend it to anyone.

* I want to add too, that my friend got a job at Purple Parasol. I warned her! On her 2nd day of work I went in to see how she was doing and she was freaked out- and they had her in the back SEWING/ALTERATIONS!! She had never sewn a day in her life, yet she was altering peoples prom/wedding dresses. This is NO joke. They told her it didn't matter,no one looks at how it's sewn and if it's professional or not, just that it was done. She absolutely hated working for the owners & quit less than a month later. So..chances are the nice people you have met there are probably on their 1st day of work. The owners seriously need to shut the place down or stay away from the work place and let others run it. It's aweful.
You all should contact the Better Business Bureau and complain.

I was a bridesmaid in a 2003 Wedding and the experience was unforgettable for all of the wrong reasons. We went into the store excited to find our bride that perfect dress. The staff wanted to make that as difficult as possible. They didn't want us looking through the gowns (we were very careful in our handling of them), insisting they knew what would look best. Just my opinion but the gown should be to the taste of the bride, not a sales person on a power trip. We eventually found a gown that the bride liked. The Bridesmaids had found styles earlier at another store, but were pressured into purchasing something similar at the Purple Parasol. The clerk assured us it is much easier to get everything in one place...not true. So..we 9! Bridesmaids looked through some books and found our dresses while the bride struggled with her final decision. The Clerks plan was to divide and conquer. They assured us at the counter the bride was preparing to put a down payment on a dress. (she wasn't..she was speaking with her mother about looking on line.) So we went ahead and handed over the down payments for our dresses. Literally less than 5 minutes later the bride came down to say she wanted to think about it...too late for us. The sales clerk was quick to remind us that our deposits were not refundable...we hadn't even left the store yet, the money was still warm from our pockets for gosh sake! But alas we would have to return to that store to pick up our gowns...When we came in they had ordered all of our gowns too large! except for the most heavy set bridesmaid...hers was too small ! What? something must be wrong? was all or our initial reactions upon coming out of the dressing rooms and seeing each other. We had laughs..and groans all at the stores expense later over some sparkling wine while we were fitted by our Tailor...never again.
