Reviews for Sonic Boom Records

Ratings_icons A nice break from on-line shopping

Red f. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 4,207

I like Sonic boom for the reasons other have mentioned, good selection, great in-store appearances and many convenient locations. However, I also like Sonic Boom for their good vinyl and used CD collections.

In their Vinyl section they carry both new and used selections. I've found some really interesting finds here for my growing collection. It's also fun to browser around the used CD collection and you can listen to any of them in the listening station.

Many of the new albums are available at the half dozen or so listening stations around the store. It's always fun to browse the store for a while, maybe see a store or pickup tickets to a local show.

PROS: Used vinyl selection; able to listen to used CDs; well organized

Ratings_icons good Ballard record shop

The Ballard location of Sonic Boom is a nice record store. One of my favorite things about it is that they also host free in-store appearances by musicians sometimes. I have seen some really good shows here, and it does get crowded sometimes, but it's actually a nice place to see a show.

Ratings_icons Great Music

Sonic Boom is a great chain of record stores, especially in Seattle. Their varied locations put them close to almost anywhere, and they definitely have the in on the music scene. With great music, knowledgeable staff, and a variety of events for music lovers, Sonic Boom is a must and a great asset to the city. The Fremont branch is my favorite.

This is everyone's favorite music store in Seattle, with good reason. They have all the newest and best releases ready and waiting for you to listen to and buy. They have great live in-store performances all the time. There are 3 locations (Ballard, Fremont, and Capitol Hill) so you are never far away. You will find lots of independent label releases here, and if they play it on KEXP they have it at Sonic Boom.
