Notwithstanding good service; once we were finally seated next to a window with a beautiful view, the dining experience was only memorable from its high price and remarkable poor quality. My partner sent their dish back, and I should

I was craving fish & chips - chandler's was recommended by our hotel - OMG the most finest fish & chips w/panko breadcrumbs ever!! you have to try a cup (OK a bowl if you're really hungry) of the succulent Whiskey Crab Soup - it still

We were greeted & seated immediately upon arrival. We'd heard about the fantastic happy hour specials & that's what we were after. Our server was Jen who very capably answered all our questions & even got us the ingredient measurements for the blueberry lemon drop that I loved. We had Kimchee Beef which was incredible, the sliced sirloin slider, the pulled pork slider & truffle fries which were all very good. The weather was wonderful & this was a great place to stop into on our walk along the lakefront.

completely overrated. I have made my third visit hoping that the first two were anomaly's. Not so. Food quality is mediocre at best, portions are small, and prices high. We ordered the $32 "tower" appetizer at lunch that was to contain calamari, crabcakes, and korean beef. 6 small bites of beef, a small portion of calamari, and one crabcake appeared. I thought they were kidding; they weren't. again, completely overrated.

So made a reservation to celebrate my wedding with my immediate family. Since it was a saturday evening we did call ahead to make reservations. Upon arriving at the restaurant, which was mostly empty at the time, they placed us in some dark side area which was cramped to say the least, sorry I expected some sort a view especially since we did mention we had just gotten married and called a week ahead. The food was mediocre and their award winning crap chowder (scuse me whiskey crab chowder) was horrible, stringy bits of crab througout the soup (kinda like grass soup only tough like jerky), take a lesson from lobster bisque and put chunks in it. The party of 9 had a variety of food which for most was ok... but obviously poor for the price. Waitstaff was kind but a bit slow. I would def. not recommend this place: the thing is I love Daniel's Broiler in Bellevue.

Chandler's is known for their excellent seafood, but they have an amazing Sunday Brunch!
A variety of things to choose from, including seafood...and that incredible waterfront view!

really .. outside deck and happy hour are the best... the restaurant itself can get pricey but happy hour is the best. Sit outside and have a drink and some great food.... But once happy hour ends...things double in price so watch the time and get out while the prices are still affordable.

I made a reservation here for my boyfriend's birthday because he LOVES crab. We ended up ordering two salads, a crab cake, two bowls of soup, and a plate of crab to share. The one piece of crab cake ($12?) was the one dish that stood out for me...delicious, and probably one of the best crab cakes I've had. Everything was delicious, but most of the dishes didn't have the extra kick that would justify the price tag.

The service was incredibly slow. It took us over two hours to finish our dinner (from the time we sat down until the time we paid our bill). We ordered a few minutes after we sat down, but the dishes took FOREVER to come out. I believe we received our crab cake and soup first, then waited around 15-20 minutes for our salad to finally show up. After we finished our salad, we had to wait another 20-30 minutes for our one dish of crab arrived. At one point, my boyfriend and I began to wonder if they forgot about us because it had been well over 20 minutes since we finished our appetizers and no one had come over to check on us or let us know the food was on its way. I understand what the atmosphere of a restaurant like this is supposed to be like, but the wait was way too long and the service was almost non-existant. We waited so long that we weren't even hungry anymore by the time the crab came out.

Unlike most any other type of cuisine, when it comes to seafood restauraunts, it's all about location, location, location. Chandlers offers average food in an above average setting, at prices that few people would tolerate if not for it's nice lakeside views and outdoor dining options. ( note to City Search editors, the dinner meal prices are no longer in the $$ range. On our recent visit, entrees started at about $30 and went up quickly to over $70). Having grown up along the Gulf Coast, I love and appreciate good seafood. Chandler's Crabhouse falls somewhere in the middle of the pack when compared to local options. The restaurant, though not a chain, is one of a family of locally owned steak and seafood restaurants, and it has a vaguely coorporate feel to it. The interior is a slightly dated mish mash of generic, clubby steakhouse ( painted beadboard, uncomfortably tight booths ) and hotel lobby contemporary ( soaring glass rotunda ). In keeping with the decor, the menu doesn't seem to know what it should be. For example, my father ordered grilled halibut, which inexplicably came covered with an odd strawberry compote of some sort. My mother, who is 5'4", had the half order of 5 stone crab claws. They came presented atop a huge, gallon sized bowl of shaved ice about 14' in diameter. It was almost comical. Embarassed sitting there in a bib, unable to see over the huge pile of ice in front of her, she asked the waiter if there was something he could do to help, but he just laughed it off as if she must have been joking. All in all, our meals were OK, but they tasted like something from a kitchen rather than the hands of a chef, and at the price, there is much better to be had in Seattle.

Last Friday, I enjoyed dinner at Chandlers Crabhouse on a 6:15 p.m. reservation with two friends. Although the parking situation was a tad confusing (do you -have- to valet park?!), the hostesses were gracious and warm upon my entrance to the restaurant. Our server Leigh Anne proved to be equally personable, and quite informative as well. I would request her section in the future.

After joining my table, we immediately busied ourselves with a serious menu review. For the appetizer course, I chose the Caesar salad with Dungeness crab addedcompletely delicious! Mia went with the incredibly rich Dungeness crab & artichoke dip paired with slices of herbed Foccacia breadtasty, albeit a little bit salty in my humble opinion. Lisas choice was Dungeness crab leg cocktail, which earned fine marks. Moving on to appetizers, Mia and I both splurged on the filet & King crab9 oz. of beefy goodness accompanied by a whoppin half pound of King crab (thats two ginormous legswatch out for the spikes!). Mashed potatoes and asparagus were also on board. Lisa opted for the Dungeness crab and Bay Shrimp Louie, a hearty salad packed with seafood, boiled eggs, and vegetables. The meal was quite good, although we were a bit dismayed to be dressed in goofy crabhouse bibs by our server. I believe Lisas reaction was, This is one of -those- places?! That aside, we enjoyed the meal. The healthy servings filled us up, and the three of us could only share a desserta delectable flourless chocolate torte.

Now, heres my thing about Chandlersthe service was great, the food was very goodbut given that our bill was $290, I am not entirely sure that the experience was $290 good. I guess for that amount of money, I would have expected something a little bit more extraordinary. I would go back, but in the future I think Id keep to entrees under $40 per plate.

I went here on a Sunday evening with my wife and father in law. Even though it was a Sunday, I decided to make a reservation to be safe, and when I called, they asked if I had any special requests. I didn't, but in retrospect, this is a good time to ask for a choice table. There are a lot of options where you can sit. Most popular appeared to be the atrium, which had huge windows and the best view of the lake. However, it has high ceilings and appeared a bit more noisy, so we opted for a quieter table down a hall. This worked out nicely, as we had pretty much the whole section to ourselves - this became more important around the second bottle of wine.
The food was great, a good mix of traditional seafood dishes mixed in with some more exotic ingredients and presentation. For appetizers we had whiskey crab soup. It was a lot like lobster bisque, but well, crab. Noteworthy were the shrimp and asparagus tempura. Unlike a lot of tempura I've had, this was very lightly battered, well seasoned, and not at all greasy. For main course, My FIL had Alaskan salmon, which was as solid or better than anywhere else, my wife had crab cakes, and I had the king crab. The crab cakes were, like the tempura, not heavily breaded or fried, and chock full of crab. I hate when there is more filler than crab!! I could not believe how much King crab I got. It was perfectly cooked, succulent and never chewy. We capped it off with the key lime pie. I saw someone else raving about it in this forum and I must agree. We ended up with enough extra food for 3 solid lunches, everything was huge. I should note that a few of the menu items don't specifically call out what sides you get. I learned this when I ordered risotto with my crab, only to find that I also got potatoes and asparagus - hence some of the leftovers.
Service was also excellent. Never had to look for our waitress, nor did we get the impression she was trying get us out. We pretty much closed the place down.

On May 12th, 2006, we had the pleasure of dining here in celebration of our wedding. My husband and I wanted to express our compliments to the wait staff and Management of Chandlers Crabhouse. We enjoyed a warm reception from the receptionist and were treated to a wonderful table with a lovely view of the Sound. Our server, Jake, was polite and attentive and catered to our every request. We were pleasantly surprised that our wedding cake (which we brought with us) was presented on a platter and the Manager, Larry, assisted with cutting and serving the cake. The food was absolutely exquisite and our experience a dream! The perfect evening to our wedding day.

The food is priced in keeping with the view from its location on the water among the yachts. We enjoy the acoustic duos outdoors with the propane heaters if it's chilly. Nice loose atmosphere and good service.

I have experienced the wonders of Chandlers when I first visited them in 1997. I have only praise for this restaurant. Being from out of state, I always visit them whenever Im in Seattle. A Saturday evening, 10/15/05, was no exception. The food and the atmosphere have always been wonderful, but what ties it all together is the service. My server for that evening, Kerry G., was cheerful, attentive, and very helpful. The other wait-staff assisting were also efficient and friendly as well, even though it was a busy Saturday evening. My previous visits also yielded great, friendly service. Being a lone diner sometimes may elicit poor service at other establishments, but not at Chandlers. A lone diner, like myself, is made to feel welcomed. I am looking forward to my next visit. Thank You Chandlers and Thank You Kerry for A GREAT EVENING.

Great place to visit any day of the week. Their seafood is the freshest I have found and the menu changes with the season so there is alway's something new to try. The relaxed upscale atmosphere and the very friendly staff make one of my favorites. Happy hour twice a day every day is a great way to save some money and experience some of their menus appetizers. Reservations I do recomend for prime time dining. but the beautifull lounge is an alternative to the dining room. Food cippino, pranwns and scallops entrees. Drinks definetly the strawberry martini or the lemon drop. I take all my clients here for lunch and dinner. Haven't tried the brunch but my friends say it's top notch.

Come here for Happy hour! They have an awesome deal on appetizers, a vast array from cheeseburger, to calimari, to sushi, to shrimp cocktail....it goes on, and it changes too. Appetizers are dirt cheap also! I believe happy hour starts after 9 pm everyday! They do have drink specials too! As for during the day, the food is great, but expensive! If going for a romantic night, try sitting in the atrium!

I went to Chandler's last night and the food was amazing. My friend and I shared the seafood bisque, the crabcakes and then the prawn & scallop raviolli over asapargus with a light cream sauce - to die for! The service was incredile, the wine recommendation perfect. I just love the way they make you feel when you walk through the door, everyone says hello, good evening and good night. It's just top rate.

Speaking for the happy hour crowd I give Chandler's two thumbs up. The bar is classy but not stuffy. Food and drink is not cheap but during the happy hour a lot of appetizers are half price and martinis are about six bucks. The view of Lake Union is awesome especially if you're wining and dining on the sun deck on a warm sunny day (and the views of Courtney and Illiana are easy on any guy's eyes).

We took out of town guests based on the strength of this and other reviews. We were disappointed at the unexceptional nature of our meal. My wife's entree was cold. Mine was flavorless. I didn't taste those of our guests, but in retrospect am kinda' glad I didn't. If you can think of a better option, go there. Chandler's should be your seafood 'port of last resort.'

I was skeptical when I saw Chandlers at the top of the Best of Seafood ratings, but decided to give the updated version a try. I'd been there years before and found it acceptable but not a place for a special occasion. This time we were very impressed. Service was very friendly, although the server disappeared for long spells. The food was high quality, reasonable portions, fresh and tasty. Prices were in the mid-premium range, but not unexpectedly high. Overall a great experience.

I go there often because I like fish. Well, there is a lot of places in Seattle to eat fish at, the nice thing about Chandlers is that I can tell them how I want it. Last time I was there I told the waiter "just grill an halibut fillet and put it on the plate with oil and lemon". There was an immediate "ok" answer. It's just that easy to please a customer sometimes!

ade patio dinner reservations at 6pm for two. Arriving at 6pm we were told no tables were presently available, but a table should be open in about 15 min. Over an hour later, after being promised several times that a table was about to become available were told, "It looks like nothing is going to be opening up on the patio, would you like to be seated inside?" As we were being seated the hostess suggested to the manager that we should be given an appetizer or drinks to make up for our wait, as we had a reservation - the manager nodded. I spent $80 on a so-so dinner and got nada. I will not be back.

ade patio dinner reservations at 6pm for two.

Pros: Wait Staff, View

Cons: Wait, Noise

I went to Chandler's expecting great things and was disappointed. The menu lacked variety, the restaraunt was cramped and although the food was good, it wasn't outstanding. Portion size was good (in that you couldn't overstuff yourself). However, the meals are rather overpriced. The number of appetizers on the menu seemed to outweigh the number of entrees. The wine and drink list is extensive, the view is nice, the presentation is excellent and the service is outstanding. All in all it was a nice dinner, but I won't be returning anytime soon.

Pros: Outstanding Service!, Good Presentation, Nice View

Cons: Overpriced, Food isnt Outstanding, Cramped Seating

With the food costing twice what other restaurants charge and the service half of what it should be, you might think I would return with another coupon. I don't think so.

Pros: The Cove

Cons: Food, Service

There's nothing to complain about the huge portions they give at Chandler's. The pan fried oysters weren't the best I've ever had, because it was a little on the soggy side. But the crabs were great! The view is amazing and you must see it when the sunsets in the evening. Very romantic if you plan to bring someone there for a date. Make reservations with savvydiner.com. They gave us a free appetizer for making reservations with them, but I can't guarentee they will give one to you.

Chandler's has it all -- fabulous food, ample portions and a plentiful Lake Union view that grants the illusion of the outdoors without the dangers of low-flying seagulls. The crab and cheddar sandwich is piled high with tender, flaky crab and a goodly portion of well seasoned french fries. I'm 250 pounds and it was too much for one sitting, but it warms up just fine. A convivial waiter kept it light, although the wait was a good 5-10 minutes too long. A bright, flavorful, satisfying mid-day getaway.

Chandler's Crabhouse is the epitome of a Seattle style restaurant. With excellent food, great service and a spectacular setting on Lake Union, there is no better place to dine in Seattle.

The crab whiskey bisque was awesome. The dungeness crab and stuffed prawns was great. Their mashed potatos could use some improvement- tasted like the kind made from potato flakes.

When I need a place to take an important client or person to impress. Chandler's is always my choice. The setting on Lake Union, location, price, and above all the quality of the food and the service I always receive.
Chandler's seafood preparations are always fresh and flavorful but does not overpower the flavor of the fish.

Key Lime Pie: Leave room for it ! ! I have traveled the Florida Keys "Key Lime Pie hopping"; eaten Key Lime Pie from Maui to Florida, It is just the BEST Key Lime Pie you can get.

Not only is the food superb, the appetizers exquisite and the deserts sinful, to top it off ask for table 49. The best.

This restaurant is the best seafood house all year long, but don't miss their annual Crabfest. Not to be missed.

I boated to chandlers last night and enjoyed a fine experience. The menu was packed with wonderfuly sounding items. While the seafood was extremely fresh, the tastes were all bland and oddly spiced. The experiments aren't working.
