My family has been coming here for years. It is family friendly from grandparents to grandchildren. This is down home food...pot roast, fried chicken, meatloaf etc. They always have a large selection of pies to choose from. It can get crowded and you may wait for a table on weekends in the summer, but always worth it.
The Farmhouse has great food and service. The bread pudding with whiskey sauce is the best I have ever had. The unique gifts that you can find there are great for the people who already have everything.
This restaurant is locally owned, by a Coug no less, which is a big plus in my book! The food is good, not to-die-for good, but good. Service is fairly quick, although not always the friendliest. This restaurant is family friendly, with something for everyone on the menu. While we usually frequent the Farmhouse restaurant for breakfast, there buffet usually looks quite good. There is also a cute little gift section as you first enter the restaurant. Overall, the Farmhouse is clean, although I would prefer the high chairs to be a little cleaner. The immediate entrance to the restaurant (prior to entering the actual restaurant) appears junky with lots of newspaper boxes, items to win in a drawing, and storage closet. It would be nice to see this area cleaned up as it would reflect better upon the restaurant itself.
This spot is a short drive from Mt. Vernon but it is worth going out of the way for it. There was one real big downer that affected my rating score of this place. They sat us down real fast but then we waited for someone to come and take out drink order, then we waited to place our order then waited overly long for the food to arrive. However, when the food hit the table, we were pleased. In our party, the pot roast and the rotisserie turkey with garlic mashed potatoes were real hits. A grilled cheese sandwich was a bit on the cool side. The dessert menu had lots of items but the lemon merangue pie was huge!Although we have not personally been there for breakfast, friends tell us the biscuits & gravy and the omelets are items that never fail to satisfy.
