I ordered "halibut and chips", which apparently equates to a double order of halibut for $15. I also ordered some shrimp without fries. I was shocked at the $26 dollar bill. When I received my food, I asked for some cocktail sauce to

The fish and chips here are decent, and I haven't found any better in the area. The food is also reasonably priced, so you really can't go wrong if you're having a hankering.

Spuds has really good fish and chips. The chowder is not the best though. Also you have to pay for ketchup and tartor sauce. The location is nice.

Spud used to be my favorite fish and chip place ( for the last 50 years ) in the Seattle area, until today Mon. 9 - 14!!!! Went to the Juanita Spud for lunch with my son and grandaughter. Lunch for the three of us came to over $40!!!!! I don't mind paying for the good old Spud fish, but the garbage they served I wouldn't feed to my enemies...They changed the fish to some over breaded Ivors fillet type of garbage. The old Spud was tails.. I'll never go back to the Juanita Spud, I just hope the Alki or Green Lake stores are still serving the same good old Spud fish!!!!!

Today, on 6/26/08 at about 9:15PM while riding my bike past Juanita Beach some little boy who looked to be closing shop inside of Spuds Fish n' Chips thought it would be funny to get on the intercom, which projects outside, and tell me that I'm gay. "Yeah, you on the bike. You're a homo. You're bike is gay." Not that I am, but what if I were? Is this how Spuds wants to represent itself? I know I won't give them any more of my business, and that's too bad too because I have for 33 years and I hope you won't either. Oh, and I did go back to see if the little boy would talk. The little sh*t would not come out. He only snickered from behind the counter and locked door.

Better to go to this place on a sunny day because seating is limited inside.
The staff is a little flaky because they are all in highschool. We ended up with 1 extra order because they didn't know we took ours when they already called it (so that's a plus).
It's a little over priced, but that's what you get in kirkland.

Spud Fish & Chips is a true treasure of Kirkland! While it is crowded on nice evenings in the summer because it's across the street from a fabulous park (Juanita Beach), you can almost always get a table in the winter. My children will not eat fish from anywhere else. Our family favorite is the salmon and chips - it's never greasy - always fresh and delicious! Don't forget to indulge in a milkshake - you'll be grateful you saved room.

I've been hearing about this place since I moved to the area, years and years ago. On a recent sunny Spring Friday, we finally tried it out. The recommendations were right on the money. The food was great and the line, though formidable, moved quickly. They know how to take your order, fry it up and get it in your hands before you know it.

The food was mostly great. The fish was nicely cooked, though a little bland. At least it wasn't overly battered or breaded. That was just right. The fried shrimp were the best we've had in a while. They were also lightly battered, allowing the really great flavor to come through. The French fries were tasty and not greasy. And the onion rings were likewise cooked to a nice tenderness, with a fine sweetness. We must find out if they are Walla Wallas.

Add to all this the fine, albeit homely, location and outside seating across from Juanita Beach Park and we had a very enjoyable evening. Now that we live in Kirkland, Spud Fish & Chips will be giving Ivar's a run for our money.

The fish and chips are great, really as good as it gets--but the very best thing about this tiny little old timey fish and chips joint is the fact that it is right across the street from a beautiful park. If the day is even halfway nice, you can waltz your order right across the road and enjoy it surrounded by grass, trees and a view of Juanita Beach.

The place itself is very small, clean, tidy and friendly. There seem to be lots of regulars who know each other. I prefer to avoid it at dinnertime--a little too crowded for my taste. In addition to standard cod, you can get your "fish" in the form of halibut, salmon, or even clams (my personal favorite). All of it comes out surprisingly non-greasy and just delicious. I don't think there is better fried fish in the Greater Seattle area, at any price...and by the way, the prices here are very reasonable.

PROS: Crispy fries, non-greasy fish, good prices
CONS: Can be crowded at dinnertime

Spuds has been around for years! There isn't much to the small restaurant. There is a few tables inside and a couple outside. They have delicious fish and chips!!! If you aren't a fan of cod you can upgrade to halibut or salmon. They have oysters, clams, and prawns too! I love their clam chowder! This place gets packed during the dinner hour. Enjoy!
