Nice ambiance, expensive veggie combo at $16.50, no take-out menu. Staff did not really greet as I entered, not rude though. The veggie combo was more varied than many-seven samplings plus salad. Because I waited awhile before eating once getting food home probably will give another try just to be sure that value justifies price-or not.

We have been to many Ethiopian restaurants over the years. In fact, we have been to SABA many times. We enjoyed dinner at SABA on March 8, 2008 and it has never been as outstanding as it was that evening. Perhaps they have someone new cooking? It has always been tasty food there, but it is now EXCEPTIONAL food and we think it should be at the "Seattle award winning" level.
Our compliments to the chef as well as the friendly waitperson. It has now become our favorite in Seattle.

Pros: delicious food; good service;

Cons: Don't go there is you are in a huge hurry. The food preparation time is worth the wait!

My husband and I just had lunch here recently and were very pleased with the quality of the food and the staff. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful, plus the food was excellent. It was seasoned and prepared perfectly, and was made from very fresh good quality ingredients. Neither one of us could stop eating - the lentils,lamb, and greens in particular were amazing... we also got a fresh cheese that came with one of the meat dishes that was excellent - kind of tart and light. I asked the waitress what kind of milk it was made of, and she had the chef come out and talk to us about it. This sweet beautiful woman promptly told me exactly how to make the cheese, not hesitating to share her secret. We left feeling like we had just had the best lunch ever, and met a couple of super sweethearts in the process. Thank you Saba!

This is my favorite Ethiopian restaurant in the world. It's little hard to find at first, since it is the only resturant on the block. A lot of their customers are usually Ethiopians, which I think shows the food is very true to what ethiopian food should taste like.

They have a new menu, which you can make up your own combo(2 item,3item,4 item) and try anything on the menu. I usually get the veggies combo, but one night i tried the two item combo i had half green chx and doro wot with a glass of Merlot. The food was great!!!

Saba has great atmosphere, service and food. Most of the patrons are Ethiopian, and that speaks volumes for the authenticity of the cuisine. The music sets the scene. The service is attentive, friendly and efficient. The food is wonderfully prepared with the freshest of ingredients. Try the Kitfo (steak tartare) and the lamb zilzil (deep fried). The doro wat (chicken and egg combo) is especially tasty and the veggie combo is a great way to start. Saba also has a great bar and entertainment on weekends.
