In late Jan. '09 I had an epidural injection into my neck, and I found the care beforehand to be very positive. Once in the operating room wherein the procedure took place, everything seemed to go very professionally, and my experience ended completely satisfactorily. On Feb. 14, '09, I had a discetomy and laminectomy. All staff who dealt with me (and my wife), from the pre-entry appointment interview, ekg, etc. all the way through my surgery and 1-night and 2-day stay were just excellent. The nurses and technical assistants were friendly, helpful, caring, and responded in a timely manner to calls. Perhaps the best nurse of all was the person who provided care from 11PM to 7AM. And let me add that the food was even good. I've had 2 other day surgeries at Overlake over the last 10 yrs (miniscus knee work), and I have always been pleased with the service I received.

I was so happy with my labor and delivery nurse Rebecca. Infact, I cannot say enough about how patient, caring, and attentive she was. However, once I got to the recovery room, the nurses were very unprofessional, failed to give me ice and other various thins I needed to heal, and they interrupted so often, waking the baby, my husband and I. Minda, RN was generally clumsy. Erin, RN was only interested in going on incessantly about her terrible birthing experience and recommended tossing our baby up in the air repeatedly to relieve gas.

Had my baby there. Nurses were caring and great! The nightmare started once I was discharged from the hospital. I had a problem with their billing department and they DON'T CARE. They are NOT willing to work with you, even if it was their mistake. The company is NOT customer service oriented at all. All they care is that they get their money, they don't care if you are out of job or on death bed, or they don't take any considerations what so ever. You would expect compassion and care from an institution like this, but it's not even close!

I recommend Swedish Hospital. I had my 1st baby there, and everything was great!

Our baby girl was born on November 9th 2007.I was extremely nervous having it been my first child. All of my delivery fears were staring me in the face once we arrived. My doctor wouldn't arrive until early that morning. So here I am with a Male doctor that I didn't want in the first place and My in laws that were my support were an hour away. Scared but wanting the best for that baby I went ahead and allowed the Dr to examine me.He was extremly attentive to all my concerns and needs. My fiance was so nervous I thought for sure that he would pass out then I would be alone. Luckily the nurse staff was the best experience I have ever experienced at a hospital not only was the hospital doing everything to make sure that I was happy and comfortable they were so caring to my Fiance as well. I realize of course that I was the one having the baby but he was just as unsure of what was going to happen. If labor and my hospital experience was that easy guaranteed i would be signing up for more children soon.

I had major abdominal surgery at Overlake in late 2006. I loved my surgeon and thought he did an excellent job, although I wasn't too fond of the hospital - run-down rooms and the 24-hour visiting policy meant that they literally let 12 screaming children run freely about the halls at 2AM without doing anything.

However, the real nightmare started a few weeks later. As it turned out, Overlake's financial department "forgot" to bill my insurance company for over $2K in room-and-board charges. This meant both that my insurance company thought I was outpatient, AND that I got an unexpected bill for thousands of dollars more than the out-of-pocket maximum on my insurance. We literally had to get Overlake to fax me a line-by-line statement and explain to THEM what they had forgotten several times before they agreed to correct the mistake.

It's now almost 9 months later, and last week I finally received a revised bill from Overlake -- and my insurance company STILL says it's wrong! Overlake is trying to pin it on my insurance company, but it was Overlake's mistake that caused this problem in the first place.

If you must use Overlake, be a hawk and watch every single insurance statement. Don't pay them until you're certain you and your insurance have been billed correctly.

Well, last night my daughter (5 years old) suddenly complained of abdominal pain - strong pain, she was crying "...momy help, help, it hurts..." and was shaking. We took her immediately to the Overlake Hospital ER in Bellevue, WA, thanks goodness, we checked in immediately at 9:30 pm, BUT THE DOCTOR CAME 2 HOURS AFTER THAT !!!! at 11:30 pm. By that time my child had to fight the pain on her own. At midnight she had X-Ray. At 0:30 am the doctor decided it is not enough so she had ultrasoung imaging at 1:00 am. We were released at 1:30 (4 hours) with diagnose of virus.

We've had 2 children at Overlake and my husband has been to the ER there and we've had excellent experiences each time. The ER is clean and well staffed and the wait wasn't long at all. I can't say enough about the Childbirth Center. The staff is great and the rooms are nice. It's a great place to deliver your babies. They have a great intensive care nursery if your baby needs it.

I delivered twins at Overlake and can only say wonderful things about the hospital. The nurses are so kind and knowledgeable, the NICU and staff are great - so helpful and thorough in dealing with preemies, and the facilily is great. The mother baby rooms are a bit small, and the beds for dad leave a bit to be desired, but the care you will receive here is exceptional.

I like their emergency room services. Due to some personal issue, I had to visit their ER very often since 2 months ago. I usually arrive there at about 2am. Their service is fast and everyone is so nice. Their facilities is also very good. Sometime you may stay in the bed for a while waiting for doctors as there are so many patients. But usually you were taken good care of.

The staff at Overlake Birthing Center is great. They were kind, patient, and see to it that you are well-cared for. I had a cesarean birth with my son, and so recovery is a more complicated than natural births. I had a very difficult time getting up from bed, and it took me probably over half an hour the first time I tried. Instead of hurrying me along, the nurse took her time to encourage and cheered me on. In addition to having wonderful staff, the birthing center is also well stocked with many necessities for your baby and husband. They provided kimono tops, swaddle blankets, diapers, and pacifiers for the baby and have a nicely stocked snack room for the family. I am glad I chose Overlake to have my baby, and if I get pregnant again, I am sure I will choose Overlake again.

PROS: Excellent Staff

I had the pleasure of having one of my children at Overlake Hospital. The facilities were clean, the staff was friendly and professional, and the nurses did their best to make me comfortable after my cesearean section.
