Why didn't I check Citysearch before I took my car to Bucky's?

Just as EVERYONE has mentioned, Joey is a scammer. He will tell you whatever it is he thinks you want to hear to get you to leave your car there.

If I could, I would give 3.5 stars. I have mixed feelings but over all, they did what I had asked. I came to them with a extensive and detailed list, I received a quote over the phone from the Manager Joey. After my car being there 2 days (expected), I got to see my results.
They did create a beautiful exhaust for my car that apparently they had a guy from a different shop come to do for the day.
They did some other things.
Overall, they went by my list, even in the order of "priorities" I had listed. Created a beautiful exhaust. And they advised me on what I needed to do, finish it myself or pay them another $400 to finish it.

The only beef I really have is that Joey needs some customer service training. He wasn't the nicest guy until he had my money in his hand, only then did he care to say something to me that wasn't a response to a question I had. He did speak to me like Im an idiot...sorry I brought my car to you because I didn't know what to do at that point. I don't like doing certain things to my car if I haven't done it before. He did give me a great deal though.

Customer service: Eh
Price: Couldn't beat it (Dan Fast in Lynnwood quoted me a lot more, just for the exhaust)
Knowledge of my car: Good
Work Speed/Craftsmanship: Good

They fixed my car the same day and when it was done I did not have to call them to find out the status of the repair, they gave me plenty of notice when it was complete to pick up my vehicle. Since I am not much of a car guy, it was nice that they did not try to over complicate or over sell repairs that may not have been necessary. Great service at a great price.

I have been a customer of Bucky's for over 10 years. There mechanical abilities are excellent and their prices are reasonable. In the last year, I have seen strange things at Bucky's. First of all, I am sure their manager, Joey, is having a mental meltdown, always sort of a thug, his customer service skills have hit a new low. On my first trip there this year I had to wait 8 hours and miss two hours of work. His wife suggested he stop taking customers who came after me over me and fix my car. He laughed and said if I didn't like it I could take a bus to work. (not possible) I was upset but managed. Last week my car was overheating badly. I took it to him. An hour later I got a call from his wife stating it was a blown head gasket. Joey came on the phone and said that it would cost somewhere in the terms of- and - and that it would take 4 days. I never heard from him again and so I called once every day to see how it was going. He actually became irritated because I was calling and said"I don't know, these things take time you know"
Finally on the fifth day he said it would be ready at the end of the evening. I said fine, I would walk down the next day and pick it up, he said that would be fine. I walked down the next morning which is quite a stretch and it wasn't done. I asked him why he told me it was going to be done and he became redfaced and very rude and told me he never said that; that it was not finished and may not be today either. I told him I was going to call Corporate headquarters and his attitude changed immediately. He was going to have it fixed by three and bring it down to my work. For some reason I didn't trust him. I read his name all over the internet and half of Lynnwood didn't trust him. So I called corporate. They were amazed. I called back to pay my bill and a calmer Joey was in the backround as he would not talk to me but he tried to screw me on the bill. I mentioned corporate again and he reduced it because he said I was a good customer. I was advised by the man at corporate to use another Bucky's from now on. NO PROBLEM. Oh, by the way if you go on a Saturday, Joey yells at his wife a lot. More of his proffesional customer service skills.
UPDATE: Joey brought my car, just as promised, however the engine light was on and now it still doesn't run. Corporate talked to him and he said that there was another problem but I didn't want it fixed because of the expense. Trouble is, he never told me about another problem. Corporate is scratching their heads but still retaining this monster. Personally, I don't trust him and think he did something to the car for spite. Do not ever go to Buckey's as long as Joey is manager. I guess it's time to email the Attorney General.

Charged me for work that was NEVER done...Then, after over 3 months of investigations from my bank, the better business bureau and the WA State Attorney Generals Office, I was refunded my $ from my bank. Thank Goodness! However Buckys wasn't happy with that. So what did they do? They reported me to a collection agency! Tried to tell them I owed the money PLUS INTEREST! These people are a real piece of work! Even when proven wrong, they still try to cheat you! I had to contact the collection agency, send them ALL of my proof and documentation and it's been cleared from my name. I highly suspect this will be an ongoing thing with them though, so I will keep my documentation in a safe spot and consider sueing Buckys for slander if they keep falsely reporting me! These people have an "F" rating for very good reason people! Check the BBB!

On Jan. 30, 2010 my husband and I took our 1999 GMC Jimmy into Buckys Muffler, Brakes & Radiators to have our exhaust system checked. We arrived and checked our vehicle in at 8:43 am with the manager, Joey. We agreed to and signed a written estimate for $126.42 for the exhaust system to be checked. We were told that they would call us within an hour to let us know if it needed any additional work. If the costs would be any more, we would be called to get authorization.

After an hour passed, we never received a phone call from Buckys. We live close by, so we decided to go check on our car. It was sitting in the same place where we left it so we went inside to check on it. The receptionist told my husband it was done. She told him she needed his signature to get his keys, so he signed. As he was signing for it, and she swiped his debit card. As he was signing it, he saw the amount was not the $126. 42 that we authorized on the written estimate, but was much higher at $521.65. He told the girl, wait, this isn??t mine! She looked at it and said, ??you??re right, this isn??t yours.? She grabbed it out of my husbands hands, as he was signing it. He asked for it back and she refused to give it back to him. She grabbed Joey, and he said,?yes it is.? We put a Catalytic Converter in your car.? My husband said, ??What? Why would you do that without calling us? Wouldn??t you need authorization from us first? We need to know how much it costs before you charge us 3 times the amount!? He said, ??nope, we don??t need written authorization. You gave us authorization the first time.? We only gave written authorization for $126.42. What??s the point of a written authorization if you??re allowed to charge us anything you want without our consent? He told us he can do anything he wanted to because we gave him authorization to do so when we dropped off the car in the morning. That is absolutely not true!

The invoice that we received back states that we gave verbal authorization at 10:38 am, which is impossible, since that is the time we picked up the car, which the work was already completed at the time. Also, it states that there was no name given for whom gave the ??in person authorization?. I??d really like to know who authorized work to be done to our vehicle because it was not my husband or myself! We could not afford for this work to be done to our car. We would not have authorized to have it done at this time. We expected it to be $126.42, as we were told it could probably be a simple repair for that amount. That??s why we signed and agreed to the written estimate! My husband expected them to do honest business and that the amount he was signing for was the amount on the written estimate, especially since we hadn??t received any phone calls. He never expected to be cheated, lied to, or had someone charge us more than 3 times the amount we were estimated. Also, we were not allowed to leave with the vehicle until my husband signed for the vehicle and paid for it, so we had no choice but to pay the $521.65. We were backed into a corner, and Buckys knew it. We were totally victims of this place, robbed in plain sight. Please do not allow them to do this to anyone else. After coming home upset and researching it online, I found a website that shows that they have done this to MANY people. It shows on their reviews if you do a google search of Buckys. This is their way of business, BAD BUSINESS. Please don't let them get away with this anymore! I have disputed with my bank, reported to the Better Business Bureau and filed a complaint with the Washington State Attorney Generals Office. Save yourself the trouble and don't go there!!!

We want to dispute the $395.23 that was not authorized. We were fully aware of the $126.42 charge that was to be placed originally, but were never made aware of any additional charges. What they did was wrong. I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau dispute the charges. The case # for the Better Business Bureau is # 22234079. (Which by the way, the Better Business Bureau has given this company an F rating previously, which I didn't know until after I filed a complaint with them.) This is bad business practices! I am including copies of the signed written estimate as well as the invoice, which by the way is written for a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer, not even a 1999 GMC Jimmy, which is the vehicle that we brought in! At this point, this business is so untrustworthy that I am not even sure if we even got the service that they charged us for! I feel like we were swindled! I would like a refund for the $395.23 that was not authorized, nor was on the origional written, signed estimate.

Ive been here before for an oil change before and they did the job OK so when I needed my exhaust fixed I thought Id give them another try. They fixed the exhaust and a few months later it started leaking from the manifold/head pipe flange, I took it back and told them what was wrong and the tech took a look at it, came back to the manager and said that 2 of the three bolts were gone. The manager then accused me of going "off-roading" because my truck is a 4x4, I told him that no that wasn't correct and after he grilled me again he agreed to put the two bolts back in and tack-weld them in place.

After about three hours of waiting I asked the manager what was taking so long and he replied "were just taking our time, don't you take your time when you work on your car" inferring that because I'm not willing to wait 1 hour per bolt that I would rush my work.

After another hour I went outside to see if I could talk to the tech. I asked him if the car was giving him problems he replied "lil bit, lil bit". I asked him if he had broken a bolt he replied, "lil bit lil bit"

Another 1/2 hour, it was obvious to me they were trying to cover they're ass and I approached the assistant manager and asked her if they were having problems and if she could give me any information. She talked to the tech and finally told me that they had broken the 1 bolt that was still left when i had pulled in. They hadn't made any progress at all in 4 1/2 hours.

She told me I would probably need to leave it overnight and I explained that I totally understood but I would absolutely need the car in two days. She then arranged a ride from one of the techs so I could get home. Thank You

So I give them a call two days later and he quotes me $350 for a new manifold or they can only weld the flange shut. I explained to him that I expected to have the bolt drilled out and re-tapped. He told me that my truck was so old and had so many miles that it wasn't worth it, he had already put 11 man-hours into the truck (I highly doubt this) FYI: he didn't know how old OR how many miles were on it. He then went through the I've been doing this for so many years and wheres your certifications spiel"

I just told him to put it back together and I would deal with what they had done to my exhaust by myself.

I later called the district supervisor and after arguing with him he agreed to replace the manifold at half price labor. I wonder how many of those bolts they would break. I don't think so Bucky's your never touching any of my cars ever again. I wouldn't even trust these guys to fill my washer fluid.

BUYER BEWARE!

Another 1/2 hour, it was obvious to me they were trying to cover they're butt and I approached the assistant manager and asked her if they were having problems and if she could give me any information.

I explained to him that I expected to have the bolt drilled out and retapped. He told me that my truck was so old and had so many miles that it wasn't worth it, he had already put 11 man-hours into the truck (I highly doubt this) FYI: he didnt know how old OR how many miles were on it.

After having a vehicle there for a specific fix and having something else fixed and told the problem was fixed (noise under vehicle in idle) I am disgusted. Three times they found something to charge me for, but never fixed the problem it was originally taken there for. Today, after another $150, was told it was test driven and was fixed, got in started it up and the noise was still there, so the tech said "Well I don't know what it is". I am fed up and would never recommend this place to anyone, EVER. Of course, no warranty on the problem fix.

I took my car to get my radiator leak fixed. I was there for 5 hours waiting as I had to . I got the part myself and they had to put it in. My car is older. I did not know until I went to add windshield wiper fluid to my car..that the resevoir is missing and that it was broken off. I had been out of water for a while . It was there before I took my car in. I had not opened the hood till I decided to check the fluid. They denied that they took it out or misplaced it and said it was not there.. They charged me a smaller fee than I was expecting..so this probably explains why..When I called at first ..they said this was not something they would do..They refused to replace it . They should of been upfront about them breaking it or whatever made them not put it back in. Windshield wiper resevoirs do not just fall out. I dont recommend these people at all! Dirty waiting room and bathroom. Pleasant at first.. and I have to admit they charged less than I expected..but now I have to replace my resevoir and pump..either the manager or the tech who worked on my car is dishonest.. The manager said the tech did not lose it.I am furious with them !!!

Although the techs seem nice enough, the management is horrible. I brought my vehicle there for an oil change and was quoted a price when I dropped my vehicle (which was also on a coupon I had.) When I went to pick up my car, the invoice had a higher figure. I was told by the manager that this was due to my oil filter being more expensive. Understood - but shouldnt I have been told this in advance? In any case, they were very unprofessional and tried to humiliate me in front of the other customers. I wound up having to pay it in the end in order to get my car.... I would not recommend this place to an enemy.

I have taken my car here for minor repairs and I have always been pleased with the results. The repairmen are always polite and nice to me and do not talk "down" to me because I am a female. The prices here seem to be good, and I never worry that they are trying to pull one over on me, to make more of a profit for their company. There is a small waiting area which offers seating with a few magazines, but more often then not, I just drop my car off and pick it up the next day. I have never had problems or been unhappy with the quality of the work they provide, and I have actually referred a couple of my own friends here when they were having car problems. This place reminds you that there really are honest mechanics left out there.

Who can beat the $9.99 oil change? As a college student with a used car, I truly couldnt beat this price. I remember one particular oil change. I stopped by on my way home from class one day around 6pm. Though they were only five minutes from closing they agreed to take my car. They were friendly and efficient. They gave me the usual attempt to sell some additional service, tough I did not find it as aggressive as many of the chain auto shops. If budget is a concern, Buckys is the place for you.
