Always willing to go out of their way to help. Fast, friendly and reliable. Any problems, they have the manufacturer warranty honored. I had to have my vehicle towed and this is where I ended up. Will use again. I was completely 100% satisfied.

Ratings_icons A. C. Automotive is fair and satisfactory

Terry H. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 6,557

A.C. Automotive is the typical repair shop. They were knowledgeable and seemed fair in pricing. They were not outstanding and they did nothing out of the ordinary to make me choose them. My car happened to break down in Seattle and they were close by. If I were in the area, I would use them.

Service was friendly. Would recommend if you are in the area.

Ratings_icons Dishonest thieves in a rip-off repair shop

wise2it

I have read the positive reviews for AC Automotive, and I have noticed that many of them are from shop employees trying to protect their job. They praise each other, but ignore reality. The reality is that customers expect to be treated fairly, including a fair price on parts, and to not be billed for imaginary work done. John is the owner of this repair shop, and he has honed his skills at fleecing his customers. He will purchase parts from "his guys," rather from the least expensive source, and that means you can expect to pay 5 to 8 times more for parts than you should be paying. His excuse: "I have to earn a living!" Well, sure, John, but do you have to earn your living at the expense of those that have entrusted you with their vehicle, expecting you to treat them fairly? I left my car at his shop for an estimate. A friend had brought the car in to John's shop to have a pump replaced, and we knew that this could not be the source of the noise. John concurred with me that the problem lay in one definite area. Then, he went off to find a part to replace the worn out piece. His price was $650. I became suspicious and quickly discovered that I could purchase the same part online for $225. John said that anything purchased online is "junk." However, John was looking for my parts in a junkyard because he refused to look online for a deal on my behalf! He never mentioned the fact that I could get reimbursed for a core deposit on the equipment purchased, nor did he offer a fair price on labor. His labor estimate is more than three times what I knew that I should expect to pay. Dear reader, if you know what is good for you, then avoid this rip-off artist. His employees are fully aware of what John's agenda is all about, and they are complicit with it. Honest mechanics are hard to find, but dishonest ones are easy to avoid, once you know where they reside. John's AC Automotive is a den of thieves, and you should not let them steal your hard-earned money. John will string you along with stories about how difficult parts are to find. He will also deride your efforts to find less expensive parts by calling your parts "junk." He will have his receptionist give you coffee and a ride home, but that is not worth the robbery that he will perpetrate upon you with his dishonest behavior in the shop. AVOID THIS SHOP!! I am required to provide a rating, and would like to give it NO STARS. Unfortunately, I must give it at least one star to publish my story on your behalf. Just think of it as a NO STAR REPAIR SHOP.

Pros: none

Cons: Blatant rip-off repair shop

I must also disagree with the first poster. My radiator had a bad leak in it, and I desperatly needed to get back on the road again as I was heading to my in-laws house for Christmas dinner. The shop was schedualed to close at 12:30 that day, however they stayed and finished my car so I could back on the road and enjoy my holiday season. All and all it was a good experiance, and I will not hesitate to reccommend these guys in the future. Thanks A.C., you really helped me out.

Ratings_icons Great Service

no1sk8mom

I have to totally disagree with the previous gentlemen's review. I found this place to be totally honest with me, they are a bit higher than some shops, but much less than the dealerships labor rate. I needed an alternator, and after picking up the vehicle, 3 weeks later the alternator failed. I took it back to A.C. Automotive, and they replaced the alternator with another new one. They don't make/manufacture the parts, they just install them. The warranty on the part, as I understood it, was not the repair shops warranty, but the manufacturers warranty. They honored the manufacturers warranty and didn't charge me the labor to reinstall a new one.

Pros: Service, friendliness, honesty, location

Cons: waiting area is not as plush as a dealership service area.

Ratings_icons Don't take your car there...

WestSeattleDaddy

I had these guys work on two of my cars. The first one involved a head gasket and it took them twice around and lots of money to - supposedly - fix it. It blew not long after their work. Silly me, I didn't learn my lesson and took another car there a few years later for AC repair, and after lots more money that lasted about 6 months. Their 'return' policy leaves a lot to be desired; it had better fail very soon after taking the car back or your out of luck.

One bad experience is usually enough for me but two should be enough to convince anyone to avoid these guys. "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me."
