I order Kobba lamb. It was NOT well done. I called the waiter and told him it wasn't well done. The owner came by looked at me in a very condescending way. And then said OK. It felt one more word and things would really get bad! This guy should be running a prison NOT a restaurant. 15 min later came by and it was still not well done.

The food tasted like rubber. The experience was very bad.

I do NOT recommend this place to anyone.

The food from the Caspian Grill Persian Cuisine is beautifully conceived, elegantly presented, and as varied as the colors outside a window pane in spring. The chemistry of Persian food is not so foreign to me and just because the restaurant is not complete fine dining does not alter the dish placed in front of me, but certainly it reinterprets the fundamentals of cooking. The food is anything but simple. It is worldly, ancient, historically organic and honors the art of Persian Cuisine in its wonderful taste which is flavored like Grandmas home cooking during the holidays. When the gloves come off and every herb and spice is specifically placed to perfection so that every bite has exactly what the chef intended you taste, a little bite of Persia.

it's so sad that i have to write this review for a fellow iranian, but for some reason we have no discipline and or consistency.
The only edible food is the kabab koobideh there. Their "khoresh" which is the sauces like ghormeh sabzi or gheymeh and all is always terrible. It's premade and frozen for six mos or more...or it tastes that way.
they never have a computer print out when you order the dumbass unfriendly guy who takes your order hand scribbles somthing on reciept pad from the '80's whasup with that!!
There is alwa6s an error in my bill total. I think they do it on purpose to "Rip"u off??!!
i have to call the guy over to go over each and every charge on my check several time... I sent the khoresh back once and they just stuffed it in the microwave and brought it back!!! hey man do u think i am stupid?? comeon!
so i give them an "F"for failed to deliver good food and service.
I will not be going back or reccommending them to any i know...
sorry

I have been dining at Caspian Persian Grill for years. Every Caspian Experience gets better and better, which is uncommon in any establishment. The staff is considerate, accommodating and friendly. The food (Platter #3 is a personal favorite) melts in your mouth and is truly authentic Persian Cuisine. To top the evening off, they provide their clients with Professional Belly Dance shows. I was just ad Caspian a few nights ago and was welcomed by a talented Belly Dancer. She involved the audience in her show, brought her strong talent to the Caspian Stage and added to the venue??s Flavor!
Caspian is KICKIN?keep up the stellar job!

my Girlfriend ordered the fish and rice dish, however, her salmon was raw/red inside, she asked the waiter to cook it more. After 15 minutes, they come back with a black fish, so dry the fork wouldn??t even cut it and it was burnt all over. we showed the fish to the waiter, and he called the manager. The manager came over and looked at her very condescending and all he said was ??I??ll take care of it?. At that point my girl friend asked him to make the order to go since it was too late. we sat there for an hour that night, without food and without any apologies from the restaurant staff. As we were coming out of the restaurant, the owner ran after us, called me a Mother F***er and my girl friend a bit**! He grabbed my collar and told me to go to the back alley so he can show me! We ended up calling the police and we filled an assault case against the restaurant. This happened on Friday night December 12.

I love this place. The service is friendly, and the food is great. I grew up with my grandmother's Persian food and this restaurant takes me back to being seven years old. The khoobideh kabob is spiced just right, the rice is buttery and fluffy, the geimeh has the right amount of lemon and the portions are truly Persian. You will never leave hungry. The only criticism I would have is that the atmosphere feels a little cold. A bit more adornment to the walls would be nice. Even if you are a vegetarian, there is good foor for you. Try the Shirin Polo (sweet rice) or the geimeh badamjoon (eggplant stew) and you won't be disappointed. Truly. I've eaten here for years and never been disappointed once.

Pros: Great food, belly dancing on some weekends, great service

Cons: ambiance, a little pricey

I had eaten some amazing vegetarian persian food in Cleveland, OH. I was excited to see this place in Seattle serving persian food and it had 4+ stars and so I decided to check it out. Their bread was so-so - cold and hard. The waiter told us that that's the way its supposed to be. I kind of disagree that any cuisine calls for cold, hard bread.

I cannot comment about the kebabs and other meat dishes since I am a vegetarian. The vegetarian dishes were okay. The salad was hideous - too much vinegar. Eggplant dishes were not very bad but not great either. I can get a similar tasting canned Babagannoush . Serving portions are large. Basmati rice was awesome. If you are a vegetarian, you're better off avoiding this place.

My family and me have been a customer of the Caspian Grill Persian Cuisine in the University District for as many years as their restaurant has had its doors open to the Seattle food critic community and the Persian community. As an American having visited Iran and tasted its food truely believe that food that they cook is just as authentic as that served at some family friends we stayed with there. I have been reading some the reviews below and feel a bit taken to hear some criticizing their beautiful dancers, the staff and the food. Shame on you. You call yourselves food critics but after looking at your critique of other restaurants found none. Funny to call yourself a food critic. Seems to me you have a personal problem. Frankly, you haven't lived until you taste this Persian cooking. It is home cooked Persian food provided by a fine family who have been serving Persian food to the Seattle Persian community for more than 17 years. They must be doing something right.

The belly dancers are absolutely inexperienced and the management and staff are extremely rude and unprofessional. Beside all of this, the food is not authentic and is way over priced.

I've come here a few times, and really enjoyed my food and the ambience. Once, we had a very large group for a friend's going away, and the restaurant handled us very well. They had belly dancing that night, and it was such a perfect conversation piece and send-off for my friend. Really enjoyed it.

We've been to Caspian at least 10 times and the food has been consistently excellent! Try the fesenjan, a chicken dish with pomegranate juice, or the veggie platters to give your taste buds a rare treat. The kababs are delight too. The waiters are very attentive and the owner often stops by to chat or can be found in the kitchen making sure their tried-and-tested recipes are being followed faithfully. Friday and Saturday evenings include live music and belly dancing (five dollar cover). Caspian is a local Seattle family-owned business that is worth a visit.

Stay away from lamb kebab, they seem to use American lamb (a completely different species from Persian lamb) that tastes and smells horrible (nobody raised in Iran will ever eat or prepare such a poor quality lamb). Beats me why they don't switch to lamb from Australia or New Zealand which tastes much closer to Persian lamb.

Chicken kebab is good and that's what we always stick to as we don't eat American beef (due to animals being raised on hormones and fed anything but grass).

The decoration is pathetic. As expected from Iranians with an inferiority complex, lots of pictures from Persepolis and good auld glorious days where Persian empire ruled the world (pretty much in the same savage manner that British did earlier last century and Americans do today).

To try lamb, go to Alborz in Redmond. They use New Zealand lamb.

The moment we walked in the door, the smell of foreign spice took us over. My wife turned to me and said, "I think we have found a special place dear." I haven't had pesian food more than i count on my digits, but i can definitely say that the mood was right. We were greeted by the manager who was very nice and hospitable. He was a gentle older fellow. The staff was very much in tune with everyone around them. Everyone seemed to have a smile on their face. It was nice seeing a different side of things. The walls were covered with older Iranian paintings and the lighting was very subtle and romantic. We listened to music while we ate. They had live guitar music that was similar to somthing you'd hear on the streets of some gypsy town. Later we found out that the guitarist was from Azerbaijan. He played classical guitar music very well. He even played my favorite song, "Joaquin Rodrigo's De Aranjuez" He played it perfectly. As for the service. Whatever we wanted they gave us. I am rather picky but i felt that after our visit I could keep quiet. Regardless, It was a bit busy this particular friday evening and though we waited maybe ten more minutes for the food it was well worth the wait. There was a belly dancer by the name of Nadira who made you dizzy when she danced. She was absolutely stunning. My wife liked the dancing so much she wants to take classes from her. As for the food, I remember that I had ordered the Caspian Kabob, which comes with a skewer of tenderloin kabob, ground beef kabob, and chicken kabob. It had a big plate of saffron rice that was sweet and each grain was a bite in itself. My wife had their lamb kabob which was incredible. Each dish came with a grill tomato. So, we ate while others danced and cheered. It was like we weren't even in Seattle anymore. I felt like we were on vacation. It was nice. It was a like we got away but really hadn't gone anywhere. When we asked them how long they've been open, they said, the restaurant was 17 yrs old.

Living in So. California as well as Washington and being a Persian myself, I have tried many, many Persian restaurants. The "Chelo Kabob" (the signature Persian meal of ground beef kabob served with rice) is the most delicious I've ever had. It absolutely melts in your mouth it's so good. If you want to splurge, you can get the Soltani (ground beef/beef filet combination) which is a steal considering how much steak filet you are getting. We love it so much that my husband and I either dine in or get carry-out at least every other week. He's NOT Persian and a very picky eater and the Chelo Kabob is his favorite food.

I also highly recommend the Tadeeg (when it's available). That's the crispy, fried rice from the bottom of the pan. I don't know what the other reviewers were saying about bad customer service. I've always noticed that they go out of their way to have good customer service. We avoid going after 8pm (might be 7, you can check) on Friday and Saturdays because there is an entertainment fee and my husband doesn't like belly dancing believe it or not.

I was here with some clients a few months ago. At that time, I was a bit nervous about bringing some white middle aged business men to this exotic place. But based on their reaction I brought another batch of mixed client( men and women, multi-national diversed background) last week, and they loved it. They enjoyed the food and the entertainment so much that some of them have gone back with their families since then.
Kabobs are delicious!! Belly dancing show is exceptional.

I have been eating Persian food about as long as i have been walking. There is no other Persian restaurant like the Caspian Grill. The food is by far better than whay you can find in any Iranian Bazaar, even Tehran. It is a polite atmosphere with artwork from the homeland. It is a warm crowd one can enjoy their meal with the family or loved ones. I have eaten here for the last 10 years. It is very busy most of the time esp. on weekends, so, my advice, call to make reservations before arriving. The weekends are also fun!! Live acoustic guitar while you eat lamb kebob, barg kebob, chicken kebob or their world famous fesenjan, and at about 9pm the belly dancing starts. Nadira is the best! I love her. She is like a blond Cleopatra.

Although I must admit the food was not too bad....but then this was the first place I had persian food. The service was just horrible. We not only wait over an hour for the food, but they fail to informed us that there was an "entertainment fee" for the belly dancer per guest. This was not disclosed when we made reservations. I was in a group of 15. The manager was rude to the organizer and even cursed at the organizer.

I had wanted to experience persian food, outside of the dinner parties of my persian friends. When I arrived the place was in the worst location, but what was worse than the location was the decor. I felt like I was inside one big garage sale full of mismatched persian art (in tacky frames). I admit that the seating was prompt, however there were only a few people here and there, in the resturant (so it was expected to get fast seating). The waiter (whom I found out later was the manager) acted like as if he was doing us a favor by taking our order. The food was good, but not worth going through all that trouble

Pros: Food, Drive away , Never going again

Cons: going there, ambiance, service

.

The service was slow (an hour and a half for our food to arrive), the manager was rude, and in the end, they ripped us off with ridiculous charges. We will never go back there again.

We went to Caspian Grill for the first time this week and we thought it was amazing. The food was excellent and the service friendly, prompt and attentive.
Great music and belly dancing also. There were kids in the restaurant and groups of different sizes. This is a fabulous place and we will certainly go back soon.

We recently went to the Caspian on a weeknight with my mother and husband. Being second generation Persian I thought the food was fantastic and decor warm, inviting and a bit educational. The seating was prompt when we first arrived. We were greeted at the entrance seconds after entering the establishement. This of course is a very good sign. The food was fantastic, highly recomend the kebob special which ever is to ones liking; being lamb, chicken or beef. The service was wonderful, the ice cream and zulbia a definite must with tea at the end of the meal.

We had a very good experience there last night ? yummy food ? the best kebab we had in town ? well marinated, not too heavily spiced (not overpowering the flavor of the meat, like in some other places). Rich menu with quite affordable prices for the amount and the quality of food.
One should not consider dining there in a hurry though ? while the service is very nice and pleasant, it does take some time for food to arrive as it?s made for the most part from scratch. Just lay back and enjoy a conversation with friends, while listening to a wonderful guitarist playing flamenco music (on Friday and Saturday nights) and very skillful and entertaining belly-dancer. There is also a cover-charge for the live entertainment - $4.00 per person, which to my opinion is worth it.
The only slightly negative feedback I have is that despite making reservations a day in advance we were seated at the table with somewhat obstructed view of the stage, while there were tables available closer to the stage. These tables were later given to what appears to be ?regulars? who arrived after us. I guess, this means we will need to become ?regulars? too ? and we intend to!

Pros: Great food and affordable prices; nice live entertainment (on Fri. Sat.); polite attentive staff

Cons: Parking on a street only; not all tables have good view of the stage

Visit on nights with live music. The belly dance performance was great too. The kebabs are excellent. The specials might be pricey. Check before you order.

Overall a great dining experience with great food and live entertainment.

oh wow, if you have never tasted good persian food, this is the place. no doubt will you find the food satisfying and tasteful, but will definitely make you say that one of your "favorite cuisines" is persian. this isnt even the BEST persian food, and still, is great.
