Michaels has long had a reputation for its poor customer service, and I recently came to experience that poor customer service first-hand. I recent;y went to the company's Moorestown, New Jersey store to have a picture framed to use as a birthday gift. I was told that it would take two weeks to frame, which worked perfectly because the party was three weeks away. I asked not once, not twice, but three times whether I would be called when it was ready or if I needed to call them and was assured each time that I would receive a call. Well, a month passed and I finally gave up on them and called and it was there all along. The party came and went and I now have something I don't need. The store manager's response to my complaints was pretty impotent; he didn't even hint that there was something I could do about it - and didn't even hint that he understood that there was a problem in his store and that he might even consider looking into it and doing something about it. I pointed out to him that there's an A.C. Moore store across the street that stocks the same merchandise and offers the same services for the same prices and questioned why I should ever set foot in his store again. He shrugged his shoulders and said nothing. I then suggested to all of the customers in line that they consider taking their business elsewhere - to a place where maybe, just maybe, customers weren't considered an inconvenience and customer service might not be viewed as a four-letter word. I was aware that this was Michaels reputation, and now I've experienced it first hand. They've seen the last of me, and if you're smart, they won't see you, either.

I have given the Framing Department at Michael's 3 chances to provide good Customer Service and they have failed miserably. A simple request has turned into a major deal. When you go to the department, expect to wait for a long time for someone to assist you. I heard another customer ask for help and the employee was not even willing to come from behind the counter to find an appropriately sized mat for them. That customer had waited patiently for 10 minutes until I told them to ring the bell for service and finally an employee appeared. Go to Artco on 6th Avenue for framing supplies. Their prices are competitive and they are much friendlier.

This store carries all of the same products as the other Michael's stores, so go there. This store knows nothing about customer service and honestly cares more about sitting on their butts than actually helping customers. I have wandered around the store for five - ten minutes searching for an associate and then when I found one, she didn't know what she was doing. Definitely go to another store to get what you want because this one is not worth the hassle.
