I don't know anything about what the experience was that caused the first reviewer to give Lucky Dog such a low rating, but I have a feeling it has more to do with the owner than with the staff itself. Some people just don't want their animals to be treated as if they are babies, and not the canines that they are. I love the fact that there are boundaries of behavior here, and that the dogs are expected to behave within those boundaries. My 5 mos. old pup loves going there, and she is learning a lot of good lessons about socialization, canine body language, and interracting with her species. She is even learning the valuable lesson that she is not the only dog that matters, unlike at home where she has no competition at all from any other dogs. I think it is a good place, and the people really care about the animals. Yes, they care about the owners too, but really it is all about the dogs there; as it should be. If their owners don't want to play by the rules, then the dog suffers by not being able to attend 'school' anymore. So don't blame the school for your own issues.

Pros: Attentive staff, clean surroundings, structured environment

Cons: Don't see any so far!

My dog loves going to Lucky Dog! When he hears my car keys jingle on "school days" he wiggles so much I can hardly get his leash on him.
All the girls are great with my boy and REALLY love dogs. Its super great to know that the person taking your dog for the day is truly in it for the animals.
If your dog gets the chance to go to daycare...Lucky Dog is the place. (The yard is really great, especially in Tacoma:)

Lucky Dog used to be the best place in town for daycare, but those times have passed.

Aside from discrimination toward potential dogs because of personal like/dislike for their owners, Lucky Dog is having trouble maintaining employees and the quality of care is suffering. They are now accepting dogs who may not really be suited for daycare due to the slumping economy.

They do love animals and understand dog behavior very well; however, as I have learned more about the owners and the way they run their businesses, I now regret I ever took him there.

It's hard to find a good place to keep your special dog busy when you can't, but I'd much rather keep mine at home then send my dog and money to Lucky Dog ever again.

This is a great place to take your dogs for a day of fun. They love it and you will love it when they come home exhausted! Lots of playtime in and outside. Tara and Jenn are the best!
