I have been a long time customer of Closet Transfer and have always looked forward to my visits to the shop. I have been dressing my now 13 year old daughter in clothes from CT since we moved to the island. Carol is very sweet and helpful, a pleasure to be around. On my last visit however, I was shocked to have been treated rudely by an older lady working the counter. I did not tell her that I had been in before. It seemed like my business didn't matter because she did not know that I was a regular. The store has many bargains and carries nice clothes. My only advice would be to call in advance to see who is working before stopping by.

I cannot believe the lady with the missing cup, Carol at the closet transfer is the most friendly and REAL shop owner in Winslow. The shop has been there longer than any other and has not changed hands... I believe. Anyways that says something right there. Keep up the good work.

I am writing you today about a wonderful consignment shop that I have been doing business with for over 27 years. The shop is ??Closet Transfer? located in the heart of downtown Bainbridge Island. It is rare to find a small business today that treats you with the professionalism demonstrated by all of the staff at this store. They are congenial and so willing to help. I feel so welcome when I come to consign and I think that the shop proprietor Carol is a warm and wonderful person who truly cares about me and does her utmost to insure that my articles are handled in the most professional manner possible. I would give this business my highest recommendation possible. I am also anxious to visit her new store located in Poulsbo as I hear it is doing wonderfully also.

I received exceptionally pleasant service from Mary at the Poulsbo location. I phone the store to inquire about a particular Ralph Lauren skirt from the 2004 collection, and Mary said they have a consigner of many Ralph Lauren Purple Label items and asked that I email a picture of the skirt with my contact information. This transpired on a busy Saturday during the holiday shopping season and since many other consignment shops that I called told me they were too busy to talk with me I was very grateful for the attention I received from Mary.

You would think being located on Bainbridge Island that this shop would have some class and integrity, wrong! In the ten years that I have been consigning in the Seattle area I have NEVER been treated so badly or had any of my items damaged while in the hands of a consignor, but all that changed when I decided to try the local consignment shop here instead of going to Seattle as usual. First of all the shop owner, Carol ,charges you $5 to open an account there even if you are a one time consignee, and she doesn't tell you what that sum is for. On top of that she takes 60% of the sale. My big problem with this store is that it is dirty, my items were covered with dust when I went to pick them up and the staff doesn't pay attention to what is going on. I brought in a brand new, never been used dish set from Williams Sonoma that cost over $40, and when I went to retrieve my items after the consignment period, one of the cups was missing and the set was ruined. The owner Carol's response to this was "what do you want me to do about it?" She refused to refund me the $5, although I will never consign there again and only one of my items sold. Bottom line is that consigning at Closet Transfer cost me money and also cost me a brand new dish set. My recommendation to anyone on island is to take your things to Seattle, where they don't charge you to be a consignee on top of their cut and where most respectable shops are clean and either have surveillance cameras or have enough staff to make sure shoplifting is not an issue. This store deserves NO STARS!!
