My wife and I live in the South End, but like to stay at The Warwick because of the great value and tremendous service. My wife reserved the Queen Victoria Suite and reservations at Brasserie Margaux for dinner. Fernando and Brandy waited on us and were very attentive. We sang Fernando (by ABBA) to Fernando and Brandy (by Looking Glass) to Brandy and they took it all in stride, sharing in our fun! Fernando sang to us as well and gave the ladies flowers that he crafted from red napkins. Chef Michael White came to our table as we completed our entree course and was extremely pleasant and patient. The food was top notch and we are very picky. My wife and I have dined at some of America's finest restaurants and The Brasserie Margaux stands up nicely. I highly recommend the Duck !

We had a horrible experience at this restaurant on V-day. Seated next to the door, with freezing air that blew by every time it opened. Took 10 minutes for our waitress to arrive, she made no offer of something to drink, just "what do you want for dinner"
My husband had reserved a special bottle of wine (he called in advance) and when she inquired with the manager, the snotty look on his face in response to her was all we needed to decide we were not staying. Bread was literally thrown on our table by somebody who was running by, and overall ambience was loud and unromantic. NOT recommended.

Cons: Inexperienced Waitstaff, Bad ambience

We had a delicious lunch the day of our arrival in Seattle (Feb 11th). The Salad Nicoise was fresh & very well prepared as was my fresh cod with perfectly cooked aspargus & yellow beets. The waiter was friendly & attentive. We had the opportunity to meet Michael White, the executive chef & applauded him for his recipes. When I return to Seattle, I will definitely return to Brasserie Margaux.

A couple of friends and I went for dinner on Valentine's Day; prior to making the reservations a few weeks ago, I had asked specifically if there was a special Valentine's Day menu because we didn't want to be restricted to ordering off a prix fixe menu. I was informed at that time that there was no special menu. When we got there, we were told that there was in fact a prix fixe menu and that I must have misunderstood the person taking my reservation - no apology given.

We decided to stay anyway and sat through the 4 course set menu. The offerings were nothing special - the lobster bisque was too salty and tasted like canned lobster. The salad looked like it was thrown together from leftovers from the night before. The steak and lobster entree were cooked decently but the steak was underseasoned. Dessert was a letdown - the cheesecake parfait was like stale pudding and the chocolate torte seemed like something you could get in the frozen food section at the supermarket.

The food was not only disappointing, but our waitress was clueless. We asked her several questions throughout the meal, like what the special cocktail was, to explain the desserts - she'd forget our question and then not know what she was talking about. All things considered, dinner was too pricey and not worth the $75 we paid per person (not including tax, tip, and bottle of wine). I would never, ever go back to this restaurant, not even for happy hour.

Great Atmosphere and Great Entertainment on weekends and the food was delicious. Loved the restaurant will definately go back! Their seafood bouillabaisse was so huge and tasty and the stock they used was excellent with saffron and Pernod base, Best I ever had anywhere. Server was knowledgable and very helpful with the food and wine. Great place during the week also to go for a quiet escape night out for relaxing evening and wonderful food. A must try when your in Seattle.

My husband and I decided to try this 'French' restaurant. The night started off nice when I found out we were able to park free at the hotel. Score 1 for the restaurant. It was a Saturday night and it wasn't crowded but not empty either. They put us at a table in the middle of the room under the brightest, most horrible light ever. We told the manager that we were not happy with the lighting so he dimmed it but then turned it right back up. He didn't even come back over to make sure that what he did satisfied us. Needless to say I was annoyed but I kept telling myself- the food will be worth it.

I am a veggie and they had a couple of options so I ordered mushroom ravioli and my husband ordered seafood crepes. We were served bread that tasted a little old (definitely wasn't fresh from the oven) but it was edible. We typically drink beer but their selection was dismal so we went for some wine that was ok.

Finally our meal came - it took FOREVER but good things come to those who wait, right? Wrong - my mushroom 'ravioli' was actually some mushroom, ricotta with lasagna noodles. It was loose and soupy - not my idea of ravioli. My husband's seafood crepes were in this horrible sauce that tasted like it was powder based....it looked and tasted like something from the school cafeteria. The manager came by to ask how our meal was and I told him not so good. He seemed a little off guard that someone was telling him the truth but at least he asked.

Nothing about the food was French and the whole experience from the ambiance to the food was disappointing and expensive. I wish I read the reviews before we dined there.

We tried the Margaux for one time only recently, we usually don't eat French food but we decided to try it. We'll stick to Italian and Mexican from now on.

We waited ages to be seated, and though the place was nearly empty, we were seated next to the kitchen. French onion soup was overdone with far too much beef boulion and salt; crab cakes was actually a single tepid cake with what we could swear was Kraft French dressing on it. The wine didn't show up. Crab stuffed halibut was inedible, slathered in cheese sauce; the salmon bore the weight of burnt potato hash atop it. Worst of all, my CC bank caught the waiter trying to overcharge us by double-swiping--the second time trying to charge us 30-dollars over the bill. We were shocked. Moreover, we were astounded at the prices on food items we would have sent back at a Denny's restaurant. An appalling evening we will never forget.

Pros: Nice interior.

Cons: Worst overall Seattle restaurant experience we've ever had

I've had a good meal off the menu here a couple of years ago. So I didn't think twice about making reservations for Mother's Day brunch buffet. I don't know what has happened to this restaurant, but the meal was something quite atrocious. Everything was below average, bland, uninspired -- except in cases where it was really awful. After I've tried every other nice restaurant in Seattle, I might come back here just to see if anything has improved. Not.

Calling Mother's Day dinner a disappointment would be an understatement. I was skeptical from the beginning when they were able to accommodate our party of 8 on short notice. Once we were seated, our server informed us that they already ran out of 4 entrees so half of us settled for meals we didn't really want (earlier customers didn't want them either obviously). There is simply no excuse for running out of food at 6:30p on Mother's Day. When the food arrived, the hash brown potato crust on the salmon was charred to a black crisp, and the steak, ordered medium, showed no sign of pink in the center. Furthermore, the bouillabaisse was completely bland and the French onion soup was overly salty and inedible.

The only positive remark I can make is that our server remained very pleasant and polite while apologizing for our dissatisfaction with the food.

I dine out frequently and have never been so outraged by the quality vs. cost of a meal. If it weren't for the Warwick Hotel guests (i.e. innocent tourists that don't know any better) and random once-but-never-again customers like me, I doubt this place would survive. It truly was my worst dining experience ever.

We wanted to find a good French restaurant and was recommend to the Margaux in downtown Seattle. Right from the start we liked it. They give complimentary parking and was seated with a very friendly staff. Our server was Janice who immediately got us a cocktail and then mentioned their specials and we had the prime rib which we hear is the best in Seattle. It was truely awesome and tender and juicy and the very best we have ever had, she recommended the crab cake and that too was the best we have had. We like to eat and I tell you they serve good portions not cheap portions for a French restaurant. The Chef even came out to greet us and talk with us and the Manager stopped over and greeted us also and we felt like celebrities in Hollywood with all the special attention. We went on a Friday night was not overly busy which worked for us since we were going to the movies right across the street and they let us park our car that whole time for free! I would highly recommend this restaurant and definately go back soon. Thank you to their whole wonderful staff.

We have been here several times and the steaks are excellet. The steak frites was perfectly cooked, with rich peppercorn sauce and I especially loved the hay-stack of fries. The crab cakes are fantastic! Their homemade gourmet flavored ice creams are great as well. The cinerama is right across the street, a late movie after dinner makes for a great night.

We went to Brasserie Margaux for their Valentine's day dinner. For the 8:00 pm reservation, we were seated at 9:05 and had to wait another 15 minutes before anyone even came to the table! The 6 course menu was horrible, the portions were humongous, and not even remotely close to fine food. For the main course we were served a 6 oz lobster and a 6 oz steak! Also, they didn't even check with us how we wanted our steak done.
Instead of having a romantic valentine's day dinner, first we were hungry and annoyed for a while, and at the end of the meal full and bloated! This is the most wasteful $200+ we have ever spent, I should have gone shoe shopping instead :(

We went for a pleasant meal and found the food lacking and service so-so. We did have the place to ourselves as, except for a few hotel guests, no one was there. Mushroom Saute had one or two (at most )varieties of mushrooms and very little truffle taste. Spinach salad was ok. Halibut with crabmeat was slightly deep fried rather than gently sauteed or crusted. Crab was minimal. Citrus beurre blanc was oily with no citrus taste. Seared foie gras was not special. Waitress served us a different 1/2 bottle of white wine than was listed on the menu and did not ask if this was ok. Then she immediately poured both the red and white wines without asking us if we wanted both at the same time. She wasn't rude, but she just did not have finer dining experience. Much better food and atmosphere can be found in many Seattle restaurants. Leave this place for the hotel guests too tired to venture out to another restaurant.

I went there last night and it was incredibly stressful and unpleasant. The bartenders and busboys were chatting about their personal lives with each other -- which would have been fine if they hadn't continued their conversations even as they walked around the room and so conducted their conversations by SHOUTING at each other across the whole length of the bar, or from one side of the dining room to the other as they moved about the restaurant. It wasn't one or two staff -- all the staff were doing it. And it didn't happen just once or twice: it continued as long as we were there. Brasserie Margaux apparently doesn't bother to train its staff. It is incredibly annoying to have some waitress shouting over your head at another staffperson across the dining room because she wants to continue to talk with her colleagues while she is moving about the dining room. These staff were literally standing 30 to 40 feet apart (I am not exaggerating) and yelling at each other. One of the bartenders was the worst. Listen lady, I do NOT want to hear about how you parked illegally and your car was towed. Just keep it to yourself. If you absolutely must talk about your personal life with your coworkers, at least use your indoor voice, and talk to the busboy only if he is actualy within a few feet of you, so that your incredibly inane and boring personal problems are not inflicted on every diner in the room. I do not come to a nice restaurant so I can learn about your parking issues. I come so I can share some time with my husband. I literally couldn't hear what my husband was saying to me across the table because the waitresses, busboys, and bartenders were so busy sharing their problems with each other at the top of their lungs. This behavior was just beyond rude. No one should behave like this (well, maybe at a football game, if it's appropriate in context) -- but at a "fine" restaurant? You find better atmosphere at a Denny's.

The Margaux lounge has to be one of the best hidden bars in all of Seattle. It has a cozy warm atmosphere with its dark wood walls, candles, and dark wood bar. The bartenders, Chris and Earl are awesome- try their lemon drops or cosmo's!! I usually go their with a group of friends and the service is awesome in their lounge and at the bar. Plus, their happy hour is three hours long seven day a week!! I highly recommend this place for friends or a romantic night out. Ohh, also try the tapas menu- on happy hour, you buy two and get your third tapas free! I love this place.

I was excited to take my mom and grandma here for Mother's Day brunch. After reading reviews on Citysearch, I made our reservation. Upon arrival, guests were given 45min wait due to reservation issues. We were seated promptly, then promptly forgotten by waitstaff. The buffet line was quick, but thats probably because the food was running low, every hot item was COLD, and the baked goods were hard as rock (waffles, muffins,). Even the 'custom omelette' bar was a nightmare, with one chef and only one frying pan. People were NOT happy. The thing that made me the most mad was the price. On their website, brunch is listed as $18.95pp. After being seated at our table, we were told the price was raised to $29.95pp. I wouldn't have paid $10pp for a meal this horrible and cold. I will never go back to this restaurant.

I took my elderly mother here for lunch on my day off. It turned out to be a great decision. The quiche was exclellent as well as the salad. Service was good and our food was served promptly. On this particular day, ther was nothing to complain about. Good food, ambience, service, and reasonable prices. And our parking was validated! We couldn't ask for more.

My husband and I decided to do brunch recently and chose Brasserie Margaux as we received their Sunday Brunch information via mail. It has been quite sometime that brunch has made an impression on me. They had a beautiful and enviting buffet which had cold and hot items. The eggs benedict really made the brunch as well as the array of fruits. This is quite a gem of a restaurant, it is very elegant in ambiance but the price of their menu certainly does not match the wonderful service they provide or the experience. Definitely recomend Brasserie Margaux and will certainly be back regularly for brunch. I was told by my waiter that they also do specialty dinners such as wine dinners, christmas and new years events and my husband and I quickly added ourselves to their e-mail newsletters. We have a new favorite restaurant in Seattle!!!

Pros: Fast Service, Friendly Servers, Great Atmosphere

.

Staff was slow and rude. The early breakfast buffet had disgusting, tasteless food. Id rather go to McDonalds: tastes better, fills me up more, and costs less. A breakfast buffet that only has eggs, bacon, strawberries, vomit-inspired cereal, hashbrowns, a few pastries, juice, and coffee should not cost almost $15 per-person!

I was plesantly surprised to find out how great the Brasserie Margaux is. Delightful Prime rib set menu for only $25.00. Absolutely a bargain for the first class service and food.

You wouldn't even know the restaurant is a part of a hotel. The Marguax has great location, atmosphere and menu. It was great for me and my wife to stop by and get away from it all, and the food I can't say enough how good it was. My wife and I had a great meal, desert and the staff was very pleasant. We plan on making this place a regular stop for our aniversary.

The restaurant had a wonderful value 3- course meal that was scrumptious and the dessert creme brulee is to die for and the waitress was very knowledgable and kind and friendly and was most helpful. This restaurant knows how to cook fish and the style of NW and French cuisine was wonderful with lots of varitey on the menu. I liked the idea of complimentary parking at the hotel and I would highly recommend this restaurant to my friends and family. Most personable warm atmosphere and good pour glass of wine. Good value

This is a most exquisite gem amid some very mediocre hotel restaurants in town. And the food is fantastic! The flair that they have for matching gourmet french and Northwest cuisine with a warm inviting, but artful and romantic ambience is beyond expectation. You will love the easiness and casual interaction with the staff. They aren't snooty or overbearing in trying to impress you with upper etiquette. They win you over with honest recommendations and personable appeal.

Pros: Beautiful Space, Wonderful bar, Cuisine is Amazing!

Cons: No great views, parking

Nice restaurant, tasty menue and service is very good. One thing that this place is missing is identity. To me, and this is just my opinion, this place is very plain and generic. There is nothing memorable about it in decor and atmosphere. If you ask me about this place I would say, yes I've dined there. That is it. May be I should go there again and see if I missed something. But overall it is a nice place.

We ate here for Valentine's Day, and loved it! I had the crab-stuffed chilean sea bass and my husband had the mushroom ravioli. Both entrees were outstanding, but I must say that the dessert was the topper for the evening. I usually don't indulge in desserts so much, but this was part of the Valentine's menu. We received a tray of an assortment of chocolates, strawberries, mouses, and more. I received a long-stem red rose also as a V-Day gift, which was a very nice touch. The only negative is that our server didn't spend much time with us. We saw/heard her explaining the menu to guests at other tables, but didn't spend any time with us. I guess we were expected to know everything on our own. Maybe we looked smart. :) Regardless, we will go back in a heartbeat.

Your experience will be enthralled with romance and elegance. If you are looking to impress w/ out the 3 digit bill for the two of you (appetizers, main entree, drinks), you will not be disappointed. The grilled salmon was delicious and tender. My date ordered a chicken dish which she was very impressed with.

The only problem I had was when recieving the bill, it turned out to be someone elses! This was quickly resolved. Their service was excellent (always attended to by 4 different servers/bussers).

I think I have now found my favorite Seattle Restaurant. Brasserie Margaux was not just great it was divine! I started with mixed greens salad that had just he perfect amount of balsamic vinaigrette. With julienne pears and pine nuts, you just couldnt go wrong on that salad. Next I had the Sauteed Tiger Prawns with the truffled mashed potatoes. The saffron-shallot sauce was something out of this world! The pawns were cooked to perfection. As for dessert I think only heavenly could describe that experience. Their signature dessert the Chocolate Banana Terrine was melt in your mouth great. The more decadent Chocolate Molten Cake was rock your world wonderful. And lastly the service was the best Ive ever had in Seattle. The price was incredibly reasonable for what you get. An absolutely wonderful experience all the way around.

As part of a monthly Seattle dinner club, I've tried most of the top named restaurants in town. Brasserie Margaux beats them all hands down - food knocked my socks off, and service could not have been better (Jonathan was great!). Salad with pears was fantastic, sauce on my perfectly cooked salmon was outstanding, and the banana chocolate terrine dessert to die for! Prices were so reasonable too! Free parking in the hotel even.
