I went to Vera's yesterday for the first time in years and the food was excellent. I had great french toast, with good iced tea and my boyfriend had pancakes, bacon and eggs and coffee. All of the food was well cooked and the service was great. Including a 25% tip our bill was only $20. Nice local place in Ballard.
I hate to even share this place with others, but the employees at Vera's are so sweet, they deserve all the tips they can get. The food here is good and basic -- waffles, burgers, etc. But again, the service is excellent and the food is tasty. Note that they don't accept credit/debit cards -- it's cash or check only.
I came here one morning and got the Ballard Scramble which was very tasty and included toast. The coffee was mediocre and I was a bit surprised at the final tab being over $10 based on food portion. I was an early morning customer and there was only one other customer so the service was good, not sure how it would work with more people piling in.
Pros: Delicious breakfasts
Cons: A bit overpriced
This is a great place when you're in the mood for some form of eggs benedict combination. I particularly like the Italian sausage benedict, but there are many other variations available. This place has a diner like atmosphere, comfortable booths, friendly service, and won't make a fuss if you bring a latte with you from a nearby coffee place.
Pros: Friendly informal, good food comfortable
Vera's is the sister resteraunt to the Queen Anne Cafe. Both of these places serve excellent breakfast food. I haven't tried the lunches but if you get a chance to check out Vera's, try out the Ballard Scramble...and if you're in Queen Anne, check out the Queen Anne Scramble at the Queen Anne Cafe.
Pros: Quick to server, Great Food, Large dishes
If I could make breakfasts like the ones I can get at Vera's I would never eat out again! I've had something different every time I've been there and I still haven't ordered something that wasn't great! My favorite so far has been the veggie omelet. :) FYI, remember to bring cash because this place doesn't take plastic.
Pros: great selection
Cons: doesn't take plastic
I went to Vera's with my girlfriend for Sunday brunch and was very impressed. The food was tasty and plentiful and the service was friendly and speedy. Down-home atmosphere is uncommon in Seattle but welcome. This is where the locals go.
