Mae Phim Thai was surprising really good. My boyfriend was curious about this place, so one day when we were walking around we decided to have lunch there. The portions were filling and the prices was super cheap. We had phad thai and green curry. Usually I'm really picky about my phad thai and that's why I was so surprised I really like it. One negative thing about this place was it was a little dirty, but that's not a huge deal because you can always call in and get take out. The phad thai is a must!

I love coming here for lunch except it gets really crowded and is very small. You cant beat the rpice and quickness though. If I have the time id go to a better thai restaurant but it is conveniently located, fast, and very cheap!

I've never writen a review before however, after my experience with this restaurant I just felt I had to add my voice. They are definitely not the BEST nor are they any good! I ordered the Pad Kee Mao - NO FLAVOR at all. And when I went to pay by credit card they were going to charge me a surcharge unless my total was $10 and above. So, I added the spring rolls to my order. Okay let me tell you the lettuce in the spring rolls were yellow (definitely not fresh) and the rice noodles were slight brown. Again my entree had no flavor and the dish only filled up half of the to go box. And on top of that I ordered the Pad Kee Mao chicken - there were only 3 pieces on chicken in my dishes. For all that I paid $11.50. Definitely would NOT recommend this place to anyone. There are restaurant that give you more food, more flavor and fresh food for less!

I was less then pleased to find that my to-go order skimped on the main ingredients. In my order, there were only two small pieces of broccoli, one green bean, three slivers of onion and a chunk of pepper that was cut from the stem. My order came with two modest strips of chicken.

I did get full on my order. However, I was disappointed to find that my meal did not reflect the description online. I wouldn't rush out to eat there again.

I asked for chop sticks and it seemed as if I was inconveniencing the wait staff. They are definitely not customer service oriented.

I have only eaten once at the location on Pike St. near 2nd Ave. Based on the dish I had, hot and sour noodle soup, I would never go back. It was like eating a bowl of vinegar. Maybe their other dishes are better, or equally horrifying. I'll never know.

Cons: need dimmer light for more romantic

First point - get there early or call ahead for takeout. Very nice portions for very little money. It's very small and they move you in and out very quickly so don't go here for a business lunch or expecting to hang out for an hour. Turn those tables, baby!

I've tried this place half a dozen times now and have yet to be impressed. It's never been better than OK...but more often than not it's just greasy and bland. Worst phad thai I've ever had.

On each visit I've requested the spice level of 5 stars but 3/4 of the time did not receive anything even vaguely hot. Yesterday I politely made the request two times (the 2nd after it was obvious to me that the woman at the counter did not indicate the spice level to the cook). It still wasn't spicy in the least. This woman was rude and dismissive when I asked for a side of hot sauce. I'm always patient, polite, and too forgiving b/c I would like to patronize a family run business but I'm moving on. Yes they're fast and cheap, but this is directly reflected in their food.

Since Mae Phim doesn't have a feedback section on their website (yes, they have a website where you can place online orders) - I'll share my feedback with all of you. When Mae Phim is great, it's a delicious cheap lunch, and when they're "off" it's a sad dissapointment. My faves are cashew chicken & veggie curry. Their soups are also tasty. Whatever you do, stay away from the pad thai - it's the worst I've ever had. I ordered it the first time I ate there (I ususally consider pad thai to be a good measure of a thai restarant), and I just about never returned due to the noodles with ketchup taste. But it's so convenient! On a dissapointing day you might get mushy rice, oily, flavorless, overly salted food, with an overabundance of sharp undercooked onions. A bad day can curb any Phim craving real quick, and put me back on hiatus. Eventually though, memories of the delicious dishes and savory smells usually lure me back, after all it's close & it's cheap.

Cons: inconsistent quality; cramped quarters; sometimes super busy abrupt service

Amazing, flavorful, and aromatic dishes. My personal favorite is the curry noodle soup without the fried onions with prawns, tofu or chicken (not a beef eater). It's the most amazing soup ever. I drive all the way from Issaquah every weekend for that. The restaurant is small, so if you have a party larger than 5 or so, I'd reccomend takeout. EVerything comes out super fast. It's maybe a 2 minute wait for a party of four to get all of their food. I've never dealt with a rude person at the register, maybe I go there on a day where she isn't working. I cannot beleive that every entree is only 5.50 for a whole lot of food. Really great for lunch, if you're broke, or just want amazing thai dishes. I highy reccomend this place.

This place has great food! Some of the best Thai food I have ever tasted. I go about once a week on my lunch break. You must experience this place but watch out for the lady who rings you up when you get take out, she is always in a bad mood and is very rude. I would have given this a perfect score if it wasn't for her attitude problem. The other service is great though. Enjoy!

I wish I could say something better, but the food was not good. It was the furthest thing from authentic Thai food that I've ever. Since when is panang curry made with yellow curry? The pieces of steak were huge chunks of beef that been stewed for hours to keep them warm. I managed to eat my rice and a few bites, and apparently that was enough to make me ill for 2 days. Be weary...

I was very disappointed with this place after reading all of the reviews. The Pad Thai is AWFUL and the woman at the register is even worse. I understand the lunch rush, but if you mess up my order - that's your fault not mine. Apologize and fix it. My suggestion - save your $5.

I have lost the number of times I have been there, sometimes travelling as much as 20 miles on a lazy saturday afternoon just to eat there. What can I say, i love their food which is fast and Cheap Cheap Cheap. Most items are under 6.00 . They stick to their basics which is good as they have perfected it well.

They dont have much of an ambience and seating is very limited but its worth the food they serve. This was my First thai food experience some 3 years back and I have been hooked onto it ever since. They serve the Best PAD THAI and my husband loves their Soups( The waiter recognises him asorder of Item No. 27).

Once My Hubby and I timed it from the moment we parked our car to the time the food was on the table, all it took was 5 MINUTES!! All Yummy goodness, food made fresh and smiling and welcoming faces is what I go for there again and again.

There are always lines out the door and here's why: the food is super-cheap (seriously, where can you get a HUGE lunch of Thai food for a fiver?), lightning-quick and very tasty. It's not the most authentic Thai food in the world, nor is it the most healthy, but if you're looking for a filling lunch, get in line. It always moves fast. I usually get the basil chicken or the drunken noodles, though everything on the picture-heavy menu looks delicious.

Get there early or late if you want a seat, though. Most just take it to go because the place isn't very big and the tables go like hotcakes.

Haute Cuisine its not. Aromatic, flavorful, freshly made and quick meals make this a great find. You wont walk hungry. We work across the street from Mae Phims and miss it. We take the family there every time we are in downtown on a Saturday. Grab $5.00 and go fill up.

I've fortunatley never hit the feared lunch rush i was warned of. All of the food(at least 4-5 trips) ive had was tasty, average sized portions, basic ingredients, and as advertised good cheap eats. not the best in seattle maybe top 5. It hits the lunch time hunger craving but if you have a little time go right above this place to cilantro for a dollar more and get a nice calm atmosphere and the Rose Thai. its amazing. trust me..

Mae Phim makes a great little place for a decent and inexpensive, not to mention FAST, lunch. I work in downtown and have been there numerous times, and to be honest, the place does not live up the 9.6 rating it has here. The food is good for the price and the speed at which it is delivered to you, but there are other better finds in downtown Seattle. So for those who haven't been there, just take the food for its price and see for yourself. It's worth the trip nonetheless.

Ok, for the $, this is probaly the best food in Seattle. Everything seems to be between $5 and $6 and is really good. The Red Curry and the Pad Kee Mao is to die for. the only bad thing is that this little gem is crowded. Really crowded. Call in your order on a nice day and carry out and eat in the sun! Or show up early (11:15) or late (1:15).

Or even better, call in your order and carry it home at night!

Pros: Taste, Value, Service

Cons: Crowds

Do not know what the deal is with some reviewers - best Thai in Seattle? Not close.

Went for the first time to Mae Phim - as soon as I tasted my Chicken Curry (Rice) it reminded me of the comment which says "chicken has been around a while". It does smell different. Chicken was overcooked so tender, but did not taste very good. Rice was a little gooey. Value for money? Sure, I guess. Would I go there again? Maybe.

Pros: Price, Fast Service, Good Service

Cons: Food quality

This place has the best service, especially for being so busy. ANd the cashew nut chicken is the best Ive ever had. Every time we go there we try to get the recipe to no avail. Guess we just have to keep going back! YUMM!

I have been going to Mae Phim for about 3 years now. They make the best and most inexpensive authentic thai food. It does get crazy during the lunch hour but it's worth the wait! They know me by name and know exactly how I like my dinner as well as my entire families.

Those naysayers are crazy - this is some of the most authentic Thai food in Seattle (take it from someone who's lived there!). Exceptional food - all made to order (they have warming trays but in the 7 years I've been going there for lunch I've NEVER seen them used). It gets a bit hectic because it's so popular. My advice - call ahead and pick up your order to eat outside in nice weather or make all your coworkers jealous the rest of the year!

Mae Phim is located in downtown Seattle, behind Fado's Irish Restaurant, off of 1st Avenue.

They're open Monday - Saturday with alot of great Thai Food and sides. Everything from Curries to Pad Thai and EVERYTHING is $4.75 for hearty, generous portions.

There is a small eat-in area, but we generally call ahead for take-out.

They accept Cash & Credit Cards. The food is good, home-made, and just simply delicious.

It's popular with the downtown office crowds, so expect a wait if you visit during lunchtime M-F.

The inside is a little dumpy, but they have excellent health-department reviews. Do NOT judge this book by its cover--judge it by its extensive menu and totally delicious meals!

PROS: Good food! Great Prices!
CONS: Downtown, no parking, lines during weekdays

Everything one price, everything good, eat in or take out...this is a great place for lunch, especially when money is tight.

At $5.01 for every dish on the menu, you can't beat the price. The staff is excellent, from the warm greeting at the door to those that prepare the meal in front of you. Great place.

Based on the high ratings Mae Phim gets I've tried the place at least 4 times and have been incredibly disappointed each time. I'm not expecting gourmet from a lunch spot but the garlic chicken I just ate was pitiful. I couldn't taste any garlic to speak of, the chicken was anemic and had that "I've been around way too long" smell, and the vegetables were tasteless and overcooked. Are these other ratings from Mae Phim and relatives? There are far better places nearby for Thai food.

I have been going to Mae Phim since it opened. They greet me by name (and in unison) when I enter.

It's a small place, noisy, a line out the door (which is always open. It is cool in the winter.

And I love it. The food is fast, superb, and inexpensive. Everyone who works there is sweet.

For $6 you recieve huge portions that most could extend into two meals. One of the greatest lunch spots in Seattle as it's quick, cheap, filling and above all else, very tasty! If you like great Thai, you can't go wrong...

This place is a favorite for a quick, tasty lunch downtown. It's busy, packed and fast and I've never been disappointed.
