rude owner, employees rude and act like they are better than the customers. Clothing mostly out of style and some very wrinkled and some even had stains on them. Never was there but that one time and would never go there again, and would not advise others to go either. Not a friendly place at all.

Not a place I shop at, although I did find a shirt (worn once) and a pair of boots there once (worn frequently until the heel broke). The prices are pretty much the same as one would find at a store with new clothes (at least, any of the stores that I shop at), yet the atmosphere is more of a high class thrift store. I brought a box of clothes in to sell once, all of which were rejected for being out of date. (They do not accept anything over a year old, apparently, as it is 'out of style') - It may have helped had they posted the guidelines in a handy notice somewhere, as I had to wait around quite a while for them to decide on everything, leave, and come back to pick up my box. The customer service is naturally targeted towards pleasing their younger customers, since that is their target market, but they can be rude or dismissive of the older customers who come in.

I agree with other comments. I had never been there before and was told that I brought in too many clothes and they should not be in a big plastic bag.
They finally agreed to look at one bag. Well other people came in after me and they looked at their things first because they followed the rules. (Didn't know the rules before I got there.) I was told there was seating at the back of the store. I said that I wanted to stand. A few minutes later I was told that there was seating at the back of the store and that I was taking up counter space. I promptly told them that when a customer came up that I would move out of the way. Can you believe that. I could not stand at their counter even though no customers were there.
Anyway, more customers brought clothes and again my bag was just sitting there. After 35 minutes my husband came by to pick me up. I told them that I would like my bag of clothes back as my time was a heck of lot more valuable than this. Very very disappointed in the staff. Won't go there again.

This store is a great find! they had alot more fashion forward styles and brands than most used clothing stores i've ever been in. I found a pair of citizens and a couple arden b. and free people tops for a steal! i had to look around a bit, but it was well worth it- who doesn't love a great deal? The staff was friendly and super helpful in pointing me in the right direction. i will definitely be back!

this is definately not your typical vintage/used clothing store, they carry tons of great fashion forward stuff- like true religion, seven, and citizen jeans. Along with a pair of jeans, i found the cutest abercrombie shorts and an amazing guess dress that i will be wearing to the club! everyone working there was really nice, they took my stuff to the fitting rooms for me and helped me find some items. i highly recommend you make a visit to this store- I found some awesome clothes and i'm sure you will too! Happy Shopping!

I have been a Plato's Closet fan and loyal customer for many years- both in Denver and here in Seattle. I have probably spent over $1,000 dollars there total (a lot for a second-hand store). Anyway, today I drove all the way up to the Bellevue store, expecting a nice, welcoming atmosphere at the bigger store to sell a ton of my nice, designer clothes (Seven Jeans, Guess dresses, BCBG, Steve Madden, etc.). Just another errand on my list- or so I thought!

Instead, as soon as I walked in the door, I was promptly ignored (there was not a single customer in the store). Additionally, I was immediately treated as if I were an annoyance to the owner- he immediately and condescendingly commented on the fact that I brought my clothes in big plastic bags (oh the horror!!). What exactly else are you supposed to use when you have two huge piles of clothes to give away?? Keep in mind that I specifically tied the bags so that they could be easily opened and used again- by me! No "hello, how are you today" or "how may I help you"- instant reprimand and condescension. Keep in mind that I am 28 years old, hold a degree that falls between a Masters and a PhD and am probably more successful than he is! I would say I am FAR from needing reprimand for anything- and if I do, its only from my Grandma, not some dude who works at Plato??s Closet!!! I am a professional and a Psychologist who is very good at working with people- its my job!! Not mention that I always go out of my way to be kind and polite to others. Anyhow- instead of arguing that I am actually a VERY eco-conscious person and that I really do my best to save the earth and such- I ignored it and proceeded to fill out the little form they require, while muttering "it's always something here" feeling truly frustrated at his comments and at some minor issues with various rules that they have in place (and always make a point to tell you).

No big deal right? WRONG! The dude reacted as if I had challenged him to a duel or cussed him out or something. He started telling me how he "wouldn't stand there and take that kind of abuse" and continued to escalate from there. At this point, completely flabbergasted at the whole thing (this is the OWNER mind you)- I just stood looking at him and said: "are you serious?". By this point he has escalated so much (think red face, high voice, etc.) that he said he was kicking me out of his store and told me that I would never be welcome again (as if I would actually EVER want to go back there). All of this from one comment under my breath, mind you. Did I tell you that he also called me a smart mouth and threatened to keep my information and pass it onto all of the other stores.- as if I was a child or something? Unbelievable!

My friend and I (yes I have a witness) were completely floored. I have NEVER experienced anything like it. I never even imagined that we live in a world where someone would think it's ok to treat another human being in such a manner- not mention when he is in customer service and is the owner of a store. Frankly- he's lucky that I CAN control my temper (unlike him) and that I think more of others than to react the way he did. I was raised better than that! I left, after asking for the corporate number (and not getting that either) and saying that he would promptly receive a letter from me to Plato??s closet corporate detailing this event and giving the contact information for my friend, the witness to this crazyness. Needless to say, I will also tell this story to everyone I know and hopefully get them to never go to his store ever.

Mostly- I just feel sorry for him and- for his employees (must be a peachy boss). Oh yeah- and DONT EVER GO THE PLATO"S CLOSET IN BELLEVUE!!!! Please tell all of your friends!

Pros: Other Plato's Closets are fine- DO NOT GO TO THIS ONE!

Cons: THE OWNER!!!!!!

.

I went to platos closet today to sell a few items of clothes and I was very disapointed with the rude employees and out of date styles. I brought in a pair of $100 joes jeans Ive only worn about five times as well as some things from Hollister, Abrocrombie, Harajuku Lovers and Express. The sales cleark barely looked at anything I brought, simply pushing it aside immediently (as if she was in a hurry). The store only had about five customers at the most.

I was extreamly insulted with the treatment I recieved. I was dressed very well and brought in quality clothes. As another woman came in to sell clothes she was instantly welcoming and helpful to this woman. while still pratically ignoring me.

She ended up only accepting a (never worn) hollister skirt and purple skinny jeans and offered a meer $6.60 for both items. I was mildly insulted by this offer and politley rejected it and left, still shocked by the horrible service and attitude of the staff.

I shouldn't have expected a really nice store because they sell "gently worn clothes" but I brought things better than they were selling and it was still rejected, some without even a glance. I will definetly not be returning to this store again. I would rather just donate my clothes to charities because at least then they would be appriciated for their worth.

I definately recommend Platos Closet to anyone looking to dress nicely without having to break the bank. It is a great way to add "trendy" to your wardrobe.

I guess its not fair to say their clothing isn't up to par, since it is a "gently used and worn" clothing store. However, some of the clothes they do take back, its no wonder the owner wanted to get rid of them. It is a good place to go if you don't mind digging, looking for a diamond in the rough. I have seen the occasional buyable item, but I have to admit that I use this place more for the resale factor. It sometimes can be frustrating when they don't buy some of your items, when clearly there ares some far worse pieces on display, but its a good way to make a few extra bucks. They can be picky about what they take, depending on brand, and season, but considering you arn't wearing it anymnore, you may as well try and make some moeny off it right?!
