We loved Moran Vista when our parents first moved there - it has the feel of a nice hotel with very impressive amenities. But surprisingly we've found that the movie theater, billiards room, fitness room, etc are seldom used; and the halls are usually empty and quiet. The staff are extremely friendly and for the most part well-intentioned, but clearly disorganized. We've learned that the entire staff, except the marketing director Crystal (who is wonderful), is new since June 2012. It's difficult to reach staff supervisors; emails and calls sometimes go unanswered, and the nursing supervisor's office is usually empty. The caregiving and activity staff paid a great deal of attention to my parents for the first month or so, but this has since fallen off.

I'm not ready to write Moran off yet because they're obviously in flux; they do seem well-intentioned and respond in earnest when sufficiently alerted. Their facilities and accommodations, and surprisingly their rates, are unmatched. I like their attention to resident security. But I would proceed with caution, be sure to ask very specific questions, and involve extended family in keeping the staff's attention on your resident's needs. I would like to see a better family information packet with staff contact information etc. And it would be nice to see a more lively common room/activity room, and more attention to encouraging residents out of their apartments and keeping active.

Moran Vista has that outside sparkle and looks pretty polished inside as well, but deep down its a disorganized mess. They try really hard to cover it up but the longer you're there the more you see the holes in leadership. They seem to have a lot of turnover in the caregivers, and I can see why. They're understaffed and it burns out great caregivers and they leave. The caregivers are honestly the most helpful and friendly of all the staff members compared to the some of the Resident Care Coordinators at Moran Vista. I've noticed sometimes where I see more often than not a shortage of caregivers working on a given day. And I cant help but feel bad for the caregivers trying to hard to pick up the slack. And some residents don't get as much care as they might need. This suggests to me the disorganization within scheduling and communication. Its just really sad and upsetting to me when there are great positives as well as the negative. Such as Moran Vista has some of the best food I've had in a nursing home/assisted living. It kind of has a diner feel because you can order things off the menu if you don't like the special that day. The cooks and servers are kind and eager to make you feel at home. They also have two AMAZING activity directors who always have something fun going on and not the same old thing like other places I've visited. This my honest review and I hope it is some how helpful to you.

I am required to report abuse and neglect. I have yet to visit this place without having to make a report. I have work in healthcare for 15+ year and I wish the state would shut down places like this.

As a healthcare provided interfacing with Moran Vista I am not impressed with the care given the residents there. Consistently unpleasant interactions with the staff, unprofessional, undertrained staff, residents have a high rate of falls, indicating poor quality care. Their website claims there is RN coordinator, I have never dealt directly with anyone but poorly trained med techs and an LPN who seems to be the real coordinator. This facility was formerly owned by Dr. Shanewise, a local Spokane orthopedic surgeon, but has been bought by a large Oregon corporation. The difference between local ownership and out-of-state conglomerates is distinctive.
