It seems like the last decent place to buy music gear in Seattle with real people. Compared to the zombies at guitar center and the rip off artists at the Trading Musician, American music is an oasis of nice. They will work with you on price when they can and even let your crazy daughter smash every cymbal and drum in the drum department with out getting upset. They seem to be sincere about wanting to help you and they don't pressure you into buying things. They have also been very good about taking returns and exchanging items. Thanks American Music.

Pros: easy parking

Cons: wish they were open later

Besides being a music shop, American Music also does rental and repair. They had the random footswitch i needed and let me rent it cheap. The store itself is good, but nothing special. The staff is more useful than Guitar Center, but it still doesn't have a small shop feel, really. It's worth dropping in anyway.

This place has a good assortment of guitars, drums, drum machines, mixing boards, cables, effects boxes, etc. My best find was a used Behringer mixer, a model which isn't made anymore, that I got at a very reasonable price and that I've been very happy with. Overall they don't seem to have as big of a selection of used gear as some places, though.
