Larsen's Kringle.

Go get some now.

That is all.

(and if you're still reading, check the shelf right as you walk in, as it's half-off for day-old Kringle....which is still AMAZING. Okay now really....off with you.)

The product I purchased was good, but overall I found the prices slightly high for what was offered. Service and selection were average. The nearby Scandinavian bakery has comparable products for a better price.

Since we first discovered this bakery when we first moved to Seattle. It has remained a favorite for 20 years. The Christmas lines are still a storied family tradition. The almound pastries are the favorite. Call ahead in busy seasons.

A favorite place for cinnamon rolls and marzipan coated cakes. Love the marzipan cakes with the raspberry cream filling. It has white cake and the flavors truly compliment each other.

I'm a baker and a huge Larsen's fan- one of my friends even had me bring a suitcase full of pastries to her wedding in Boise for her Danish relatives. I was pleasantly surprised to find red velvet cake in their display case recently, and even more surprised that it was GOOD! Perfect cake(not too sweet), and delicious cream cheese frosting. Who knew a Scandinavian bakery could get this Southern delicacy right? With Cupcake Royale only doing red velvet part of the year, this is a great way to get your fix, and for the money Larsen's has the best cakes in town. Staff are always friendly(even when the line is long), and if you're a baker it's a great place to find marzipan to use yourself, as well as premade dough.

Favorites: Chocolate croissant, almond bar, lemon cake with marzipan frosting, red velvet cake
Least favorite: Chocolate mousse cups

This place is a gold mine! I've been here twice in one week (I live in Redmond, you do the math) and it's so worth the drive. On my first trip I got a rum ball and a custard filled, chocolate topped pastry. Both were delicious, and since I happened to be in the area again, found myself in again. I had been craving a maple bar and since apperently they're amazing here, I really wanted on, but they'de SOLD OUT!!! I was forced to re-think. So, cream cheese danish and what was called a Kransekaka piece (they're on the website under cookies). The danish was superior to any other danish I've ever had. The perfect, light, flakey pastry, and the cream cheese filling (as close to cheesecake as one ought to be before 2pm) was just the right balance of salty-sweet. The Kransekaka piece was a gamble, but boy oh boy, did it pay off. After my first bite, I pulled a "When Harry Met Sally" moment in my car. Good thing I was stopped at a light already; that could've been deadly!

Years ago my husband and I ordered our Marzipan covered cake from Larsen's in Magnolia- and our guests still rave about it! This Ballard location offers all the same and is a wonderful place to forget all your dieting cares and have some fun! They offer everything from your standard doughnuts to some tasty Scandinavian treats. Even the rolls are a treat- get some to go for sandwich making. Forget Krispy Kreme, Dunkin Donuts- Larsen's is the true doughnut royalty.

There is nothing like the pasteries that come out fresh each day in Larsens. The food is amazing. Baked fresh every day. A must try. Remember Scandinavians aren't known for their coffee, but they are for their treats!
