I love Pike's Place and there really isn't anything like it in San Diego.
I never have actually purchased anything at this market but I still go by it every time I visit Seattle.
It's always fun. The guys who work enjoy what they do and they put on quite a show throwing the fish around.

I just love to shop at the Pike Place Fish Market. It's located right through the main entrance to Pike Place Market which is actually quite famous and have been shown on tv and the movies. They sell yellow fin tuna, salmon, halibut, prawns, crab. Everything is fresh and displayed in crushed ice all around the counter. It's a lot of fun to shop there.

This particular fish place in the Pike Place Market is most noteworthy as a tourist attraction that's probably worth visiting even if you aren't buying fish (which is of course very good here too). There is often a crowd of people gathered by their shop watching them throw the big fish through the air to each other. It's an interesting place with friendly staff.

This is a nice place in Pike Place Market to bring tourists to. The seafood selection is interesting to browse, and the must-see is the fish throwing show put up by the guys who work there. Since they are at the prime location (just next to the Pike Place pig statue at the entrance), they are guaranteed a crowd. The seafood quality is ok but the price is pretty high.
PROS: fun place to be
CONS: expensive

Best fish market ANYWHERE! This is the place to go not only for the fresh Seattle fish, purchased on the famous Pike St., but you go there for the entertainment! When you first walk up you may notice a crown around what appears to be a typical outdoor seafood market. There is shouting back and forth between the staff as they communicate with one another from across the market. Then you see it - flying fish! Really - the very entertaining staff throws your fresh (maybe slimy?) fish across the market to another staff member who then catches the fish, quickly packages it - shouts again - then throws the fish back. They catch it again with ease and hand you your order!! It is the coolest thing. I lived there quite some time, and still had a blast watching the fish fly across the market, and the exitement from the crowd is just amazing! It's one of the highlights of Seattle's portion of the waterfront!
PROS: Very entertaining!
