SEATTLE'S ORGANIC VEGETARIAN CAFE
  • Sandwiches, Salads and Soups
  • Seattle's Only Raw Foods Menu
  • Organic Juice and Wheatgrass

The Chaco Canyon Organic Café is a vibrant, ecologically sound slice of heaven carved into Seattle's University District. They are approximately 90 percent organic year-round -- one of the few cafés in the nation that can make that claim. Set in a warm Southwestern décor, they provide delicious homemade food for a wide variety of needs tastes: Vegan and Raw food: the only café in the Seattle area that features a daily raw foods menu, which changes often and with the seasons. The other half of the menu is 100% vegan with housemade soups, salads and sandwiches. Fresh Juice and Wheatgrass: Always 100% organic and never pasteurized, their juices are prepared only when ordered. Espresso and Coffee done right: Their coffee is Fair Trade, organic, shade grown, AND bought directly from the Costa Rican farmer himself! The Organic espresso is delivered weekly by Lighthouse Roasters

All organic all of the time - Thank GOD, somebody cares!!  5 Star Rating - World class

The BEST food in the entire state of Washington. Consistently delicious, fresh, and organic. Great service. If you actually care what you are putting into your mouth and your the mouth of your family - this is the only restaurant you should spend your money at. Oh, and the prices are incredibly reasonable.

What a GEM!!!  4 Star Rating - Very good

We always have trouble finding good small cafes that don't feel too hip or pretentious. Chaco Canyon is wonderful. The food was excellent, the small space was cozy, the staff seemed like they were the owners, the prices were good and we were able to accommodate my son's vegan girlfriend! We will go back

PROS: Cozy, Excellent Food, U district
CONS: none!

Their focus is on raw, healthy foods and juices. If you are vegan or vegetarian you will love this place. The foods are flavorful and delicious. Their juices, too, are yummy and healthy. The atmosphere is very relaxed. The food is made to order, very fresh, and organic, when possible. Your food may take awhile, but it is worth the wait! If you have any special dietary needs they will happily accomodate you. Delicious, healthy food! and I don't feel all "heavy" after I eat here like many restaurants.

Variety of different foods, fresh quality, friendly staff, cozy environment 5 Star Rating - World class

I'm vegan and I brought my non-vegan meat loving friends here and even they loved the food!
To me, that says enough.
The atmosphere is pleasant and there are little plants for decoration scattered around. They have all sorts of deserts and boy are they delicious. It takes a little while for your food to be done but when it reaches those taste buds, you'll agree that it was worth the wait.

I highly recommend this charming cafe to anyone. It's in a great location too. Grabbing a bite to eat at Chaco Canyon and then walking around University District is a fantastic way to spend the day!

If you seek raw and/or organic AND vegan, this is a good place 4 Star Rating - Very good

Their new space is open, airy, light-filled; a lovely cafe setting. Something about this place reminds me a little of the Elliot Bay Bookstore. You will find unique and creative cuisine here, catered especially for raw diets and healthy gurus. It's a bit pricey, and the food I have had so far is just okay, but this really is the only restaurant of its kind in Seattle. A wide array of vegan, raw, even gluten-free deserts await you when you walk in; I recommend trying some. Staff is friendly too. Another reason to eat here is that the food and beverages are almost all organic!
And, extra bonus points: They recycle and compost!!!

Pros: Creativity, Variety, Organic, Vegan, Fresh, Nice Staff and Pleasant Cafe Setting
Cons: expensive for the serving size

Organic Heaven! 5 Star Rating - World class

If you haven't heard, Chaco Canyon has moved from its tiny original location just a block to the west (corner of 50th and 12th, across from the YMCA), and WOW what a change! The old place was quaint, if not a bit musty and cramped. The new location is bright, airy and beautiful. As a longtime regular customer, I must say that the change in environment has brought a huge change to everything else. The menu is more extensive. The notorious wait time for food and the frequent outtages of menu items are a thing of the past. The friendly hippie staff from before has been transformed into a bright, cheerful and (as far as I can tell) almost entirely female one. Best of all, the food as always fresh, imaginative, affordable and delicious. I hate going into a cafe and seeing the same items you see everywhere else; Chaco Canyon truly strives towards originality and variety on its menu. If you've never been, go check them out!

Pros: Staff, food, ambiance
Cons: a little loud

Casual Dining 3 Star Rating - Satisfactory

It's great to have somewhere that offers Raw food! Food is good and on par with the cost. Friendly, deli like service.
The Raw desserts are incredible, and well worth going for that alone!
It's great to have Chaco Canyon, but Seattle is overdue in getting a Raw Vegan 'Fine dining' choice.

Healthy and Yummy! 5 Star Rating - World class

I ate here this week for the first time. I had the avacado and tomato sandwich- sounds kinda boring, but it was the best I ever had! The bread they used was to die for and the 7003 juice which was just delicious.
They are a littl tricky to find because they are situated below another restaurant, but once you find it you are in for a treat!
