I had a great experience with Chinook Lumber. I have always shopped at the bigger lumber stores. Never again. The nice helpful people at Chinook made you feel very welcome and very willing to lend a hand.

When I went to Chinook Inc. I was kind of skepticle about it. I was used to HUGE warehouses full of lumber but Chinook is the mighty might of lumber houses. They were right on. We had a few mis-haps at the front counter but when I got right outside they WALKED up to me with great delight. A Couple just stared at me from the saw which was creepy. I don't think ill shop there again (Went out of business) but great for struggling contractors. P.S. They had some kind of a BBQ and the food was really RAW!!

I've used Chinook for at least 10 years, and they've always been great. There is another lumber company much closer to me, but their prices are higher, and they have that "used car lot" feel to them. Chinook's wood is as good as it gets in whatever grade you're buying, and the staff is always helpful without being overbearing (unlike the other store). They have free delivery if your order is over $300 (or is it $500 these days?), which is almost always, with today's prices. It's worth the drive to Clearview.

My neighbor and i decided to go the cheap route and build our own fence. We rented an auger and bought all the supplies from Chinook lumber. The prices are excellent, a little better than the big warehouse stores. As a matter of fact, they have a whiteboard listing the most popular items and all the nearest competitors prices on those items. Typically they are lower. Once we got the papoerowkr for the auger, we had to drive around to a very hidden driveway. I gave the paperwork to the guy working there and he couldn't find the auger. He had to get help from someone else and eventually they found it and hooked it up to our truck for towing home. After we returned it, we needed the actual lumber and the people in the lumber side wer every helpful and loaded the truck for us. Good prices, good service, even if some of the workers are a little dense.

PROS: good prices, good service
CONS: pickup workers were a little unorganized
