Best Hong Kong style congee and soup noodle place in Seattle. They claim they don't use MSG and taste is still excellent. Place is small and need to wait and share table with others, but worth it. Price is reasonable. Strongly recommend it!

If you have never had congee, you must go to Mike's Noodle House. The noodle dishes are excellent too. Seattle's International District has so much to offer, and this tiny restaurant is one of the best places around!

The noodles are great and the congee may be even better. The place is an absolute mess (small dining area, people waiting in line next to your table while you eat) and the service is on par with other restaurants in the international district. However you will forgive all these things once you dig into your food. The menu is huge but it consists of the same six or seven ingredients presented in different ways. If you don't mind the ambience or lack of it, you will not be disappointed.

Pros: everything on the menu is good, cheap eats

Cons: its crowded, stuffy, and dining area is uncomfortable

I took my family here on the recommendation of a colleague who is married to a Chinese gal. Although it took a few attempts during a renovation period, we finally made it one Saturday afternoon. The place is small and was packed but we were determined to wait. They seated us as quickly as possible and gave us hot tea while we waited outside. Once the eating began, we were in heaven. The group was large and we tried to order some of everthing, including some of the more adventurous (to us) items. Everyone loved the food. It's quite affordable and incredibly good. I will return as often as possible. Too bad I'm in Ballard and it's in the ID. Try it out and see what you think of authentic Chinese noonies!

Pros: Exceptional noodles and food, fair prices, friendly staff

Cons: Small space, long waits

I love this place. The food is great and the price reasonable. Whenever I eat here, I usually get their shrimp wonton (among the best in Seattle) and their chicken congee (rice porridge). I've never had a bad experience here with the staff. The turnoff to this place is that the place is small and cramped, and probably built this way to make it look like that there is an overflow of customers. If you decide to eat here, you need to arrive early (i.e. before the late afternoon), as the staff will close up shop once they've sold out on the day's inventory.

I have eaten at all of the places in the ID and this is hands down the best for congee and noodles. Super duper cheap. Service is not too good. They will strongly urge that you get a side dish of vegetables and frown if you decline.

But if it is congee or noodles I crave, this is my new place. Incredible tasting chicken.

Mike's Noodle House used to be one of my favorite places to eat. The food is usually steaming hot, fairly priced and delicious. After the last few outings, my opinion has dropped drastically. The service used to be fairly good: smiling, pleasant waitstaff that happily tended to requests. The last few times, the waitresses have been incredibly rude, tried to hurry us to finish eating, and hardly ever wiped tables before seating a new group. Half of our order came, and we had to wait 30 minutes for the other half, while take out orders came and went within 5 minutes! Not eager to go back again.
