Editorial Description by Citysearch
In Short
The deep-red walls and Jazz-era decor make this Capitol Hill bistro a romantic date spot. Service is friendly and attentive. A pair of sleds on the wall pay homage to the "Citizen Kane" character that gives the restaurant its name. Dinner favorites include the herbed goat cheese spread and the soy- and horseradish-marinated beef tenderloin with lotus root chips. Brunch dishes, like eggs benedict, assorted omelettes and cranberry-orange pancakes, draw hungry, hungover crowds.

Great Service, Great Drinks!  4 Star Rating - Very good

By Angry K.

I'm a big fan! I went here for the first time last Tuesday eve for a friend's b-day. I didn't get any food so I can't comment there but the atmosphere was good, music was super swank, and the beverages were tasty. Drink prices were totally average and great for doubles. I'm a Makers fan. The bartender, Will was a rockstar--there were so many of us that it seemed pretty chaotic but even when I wasn't first up at the bar, he made eye contact and let me know my turn was coming. I've been in the service industry for years and was pretty impressed how unflappable he was. I will definitely be back for some more tasty beverages. Glad I discovered this place.

Great, classic food with a twist  4 Star Rating - Very good

By Lori S. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 109

The Rosebud Restaurant is a nice stop for drinks, happy hour or dinner. It's nestled in and feels like a little New York restaurant, with style and ambience. The food is classic, with interesting, beautiful preparation, sauces and flavors. Very romantic on a date, or good to socialize with others.

Great Happy Hour  4 Star Rating - Very good

By katie j.

The Rosebud has a great happy hour with very cheap drinks from 5 until 8 (or 9?). It's one of the rare spots on Capitol Hill where you can acutally hear the person next to you when they talk to you! The place is very comfy and inviting. . .if you're looking for cheap food to go along with your drinks, don't look here, the food is very very expensive.

PROS: Cheap drinks, nice atmosphere
CONS: Expensive food.

Cute place, intimate date night  4 Star Rating - Very good

By Tiffany J. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 1,707

I like Rosebud for the drinks. They have food, but i have never eaten here. I'm sure it is good, though, because the place has quality drinks and a nice atmosphere. The bar is the place to be here - a great place to meet friends or begin or end a date. In the world of bars that is capitol hill, this one stands out above the crowd for its beauty and glamour in an intimate setting.

the new york cosmos are back!  4 Star Rating - Very good

By shianxiu s. | insider_guru Insider Guru | Rank: 897

this bar serves the best cosmopolitan that i have ever tasted in seattle. i have been to every bar and nightclub imaginable in seattle, and the cosmopolitan that i remember the most is at the rosebud. i have to say that the bar itself is quite a cosy, artsy atmosphere. i mean, there are couches inside, as well as barstools and chairs with tables, while outside there is a patio. unfortunately, for the smokers, this is one of the rare places in seattle by which you must smoke outside. but still, the drinks are the absolute greatest made.

My absolute fav place in Seattle 5 Star Rating - World class

By jP

Rosebud Restaurant & Bar has been a favorite of mine for a number of years. I "discovered" it in 2002 when on a hunt for a good, value-oriented weekend brunch spot. Well, the French Toast at brunch captivated me and soon I was inviting friends and clients to join me for dinner. The portions are just right--Euro-styled. The menu fare, creative and tasty. And the wine selections are far ranging. If you haven't tried this little jewel -- do so. Because of the economy, Rosebud is posting some incredible specials during the week.

Pros: Love the wait staff, decor and intimacy
Cons: What are the drawbacks?

i love rosebud 5 Star Rating - World class

I have been coming to Rosebud for years mostly for drinks in the bar. The staff is always friendly and attentive. I've eaten their a couple of times and the brunch is always wonderful but the dinner menu has been a miss for awhile. I heard about the new kitchen staff and menu and decided to give it another try. It has taken a huge turn for the better!!!! They have really stepped it up with the new menu and with more vegetarian options! My only complaint is with the crappy glassware. I dine out alot and I dont understand why a nice restaurant with a menu of this level would serve wine out of diner libby glassware. bleh! Any respectable seattle restaurant serves out of riedel or spiegelau or anything but libby. Please consider stepping it up to meet with the great new menu!

Pros: great food and service!
Cons: poor wine glassware

Food was disgusting, waiter was totally rude. It was a complete waste of money and I would NEVER go back. This is the worst restaurant I have ever been to in Seattle.

Consistantly good!!! 5 Star Rating - World class

I eat at Rosebud all the time, the last time I was there I was suprised that the food was not as good as it had been. So I thought I would go back and try it again, last night. Tehy have anew mwnu and a change in the kitchen staff. Well the difference was amaizing, the new menu was so different and so many good things to choose from, and the flavors incredible. If you tried Rosebud in the past, try it again the food is great. Of course the service cannot better.

A venerable Capitol Hill institution 5 Star Rating - World class

By rapier7

I?ve been a big fan of Rosebud for almost as long as it?s been in existence because of the service and the great food. Plus, you can?t beat the generous happy hour. The ambiance is sublime and romantic with the music and decor. If you?ve never been, try not to be put off by the rabid negative remarks found below. No restaurant is perfect, but Rosebud would not have been around for as long as it has if it was really all that bad.
