This is the only pizza place in the Seattle area for authentic Chicago style pizza. There are plenty of other places that claim they make Chicago style, but I have yet to find one (and I've been to quite a few). I personally prefer the spinach pie. The crust is buttery, thick and flakey. The cheese and spinach blend is yum and the sauce is the perfect topper. It does take a while (30-40 minutes) for the pie to bake, but it is worth the wait. You can even call ahead and order. Then when you arrive at the restaurant your pizza is ready...no waiting! This is the only place worth trying if you're in the mood for Chicago style pizza.

The menu states that it costs under $3 to add any topping to a large deep dish pizza, but when I wanted to add spinach to a Delfino's Special, they wanted to charge me the price of a deep dish spinach pizza plus 4 additional toppings. So what should have been $28.70 + $2.40 ($31.11) was going to be $39.30???? That's nearly $10 for adding spiniach as a topping.

I am not the first customer to bring this up, and the owner refuses to accomodate customer feedback. In this economy? It's just BAD business, and it makes me wonder what other surprises are part of their menu pricing.

As a devout Chicago deep-dish lover, I think the pizza at Delfino's is passable, and the service is usually good. But my clearest impresion is that Delfino's is too comfortable as the only deep-dish place in the Seattle area, and this means that neither the menu nor the customer are always right.

Absolutely the best pizza I've ever had. Delfino's makes the most delicious Chicago style pizza. Their deep dish pizza is amazing, but their stuffed crust is a must have!!! I recommend the stuffed with spinach, herbs, and cheese. The zesty tomato sauce provides the pizza with an extra zing that is unparalleled. In addition, do yourself a favor and order the black olives as a topping. All the ingredients tasted fresh and perfectly complemented each, making each stuffed bite seem like one is popping little pillows of deliciousness into your mouth. I will be back over and over again...

I loooove the pizza here! It's absolutely amazing!! Their Caesar Salad is my favorite and their stuffed spinach, cheese, or delfino's special pizzas are to die for. Their deep dish delfino's special is awesome too. WOW.

Don't go to Delfino's if you are in a hurry, because the wait for pizza is usually quite long. Order a salad to hold you over if you are starving. But, once the pizza comes out, you are in for a treat! Delfino's serves us truly Chicago style pizza with thick crust, real cheese, and fresh ingredients.

This is the WORST deep dish pizza I have ever had. Im born & raised in Chicago, and this is an insult to Chicago style pizza.. There was hardly any tomato sauce, and the crust tasted like old bread. A real Chi pizza must have a flaky crust, this did NOT. I was very disappointed with this joint, if you want a real pizza in the Seattle area, just order one online from Lou Malnati's! Save your time and money and go else where!!

I am a UW student, and I prefer to walk off campus for lunch rather than eat in the loud, crowded options available on campus. At Delfino's, I can get lunch (a slice of stuffed spinach) complete with a root beer for less than $7. I can pay this much or more on campus, or at other places in the UVillage, but what keeps me coming back to Delfino's is the inexpensive lunch PLUS service. I can sit down and read, while having my root beer refilled when needed, having my plates bussed, and all very promptly.

Well, I had not been to Delfino's in a couple years because the service was so bad last time, but after reading through my most recent Bon Appetit magazine and finding them featured, I thought I would give them another try. I will agree that the pizza is pretty good. Not the best I have had, but pretty decent for Seattle. The service however was worse than I remember. Reading other comments, it seems to be a recurring theme here. Either that or myself and the last few reviewers got the same waitress! Had to get our own napkins and silverware. Waitress pretty much tossed the pizza and drinks on the table. Bon Appetit must have called in for take out! Skip the dine in experience and just pick it up.

Cons: service is horrible.

Went in on a slow afternoon and got indifferent service. When pizza finally came, it wasn't anything special. The waitress never said anything when dropping off the food, we had to get our own silverware and never got offered refills on drinks. Will not be going back.

If you want, a really good pie and you do not mind having college kids serve you this is a great place to spend an hour or so enjoying the best Chicago style pizza with in the city!

Likes:
Pizza is great, the first one I ever had was 13 years ago and it was the Stuffed Spinach Pizza (I hate veggies) and it was so great I had to try them again this time with Sausage and Pepperoni and I have been hooked ever since. If you take the time to put the number in your phone you can call ahead, (it takes 25 minutes for a deep-dish pie to cook) then your food is ready for you when you walk through the door.

Needs improvement:
Staff is a bit slow, and can slow down even more if you are rude or complain about having to wait 25 mintues for a pizza, and I would be too! Getting refills on Soda or Tea is a bit challenging, however if you are polite the service is good, not great but good.

To all those non-believers I say good luck finding a better Chicago style in Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, Lynnwood, Everett, Bellingham or Portland!

I love Delfino's stuffed spinach pizza - best pizza in town. However, I will never go back due to the worst customer service I have ever experienced! Our wait person forgot to put in our order and did not notice the mistake until we asked about our pizza 45 minutes later! We decided to leave, and they still made us pay for the soda we had while we waited for our non-existant pizza. I love the pizza there so much, I couldn't write the place off completely, so we went back a couple of weeks later for a second chance. The wait person again forgot to put in our order! The funny thing about it was the restaurant was not very busy...how could they forget to make our pizza?! I will never go back!

All their pizzas are great specially the deep dish and stuffed pizzas. The crust is flaky and buttery and reminds you why pizzas are also called "pizza pies". The ingredients are great would highly recommend the stuffed spinach or any pizza with sausage.

The staff is very friendly and attentive. Great place if you are looking for a quick lunch as they have a decent selection of pizza by the slice (tastes great).

I went to Delfino's for lunch and I ordered a salad which end up being a pile of lettuce, two slices of tomato, 3 olives, few carrots and lots of croutons. It was hard to eat it because the plate was too full. For $8.50 I was expecting at least some cheese. My husband told me he ate there 10 years ago and he hasn't being back. I will never be back there again.

This pizza was amazing, not only was did we get a stuffed pizza with our topping but a small was filling for the 2 of us. Now a days a small usually can never get anywhere even for just one person. But with the thickness of this crust and the amount they fill your pizza with when you choose the stuffed pizza you will not have any room for dessert. We even had leftovers between the two of us and we're pretty big eaters.

Cons: 30 min wait for your pizza after you order

.

An absolute insult to Chicago style pizza. The disappointment after waiting 30 min. for it, just added insult to injury. There was no buttery flaky crust! The sauce was tasteless! The cheese was no frills! I'm hoping the girl was new to the place, cause she was clueless. Everything we asked her she had to go find out about it. Even if you really crave Chicago style pizza, skip this place.

Wow, I was really surprised to read all the positive reviews Delfino's received. I grew up on Chicago-style pizza, and not the Pizzeria Uno stuff - the *real* stuff: Gino's East, Giordano's, so maybe that's why I was totally disappointed by the pizzas my husband and I ordered at Delfino's. Tasteless crust, bland sauce, goopy (not stringy rubbery) cheese, and ... where was the spinach? I understand there aren't very many restaurants that offer Chicago-style pizza in Seattle, but I'd rather eat peanut butter and jelly than spend 45 mins waiting for this ...

My favorite Pizza place just got better...the new decor nicely compliments the amazing Chicago Style Pizza! I always count on Delfinos for the great stuffed pizza but now I can count on a nice atmosphere too. For those of you yet to experience the stufffed spinach, you're missing out! The staff is friendly and I love ordering more than I can eat. The pizza makes for excellent leftovers, perfect for tomorrow's lunch.

The pizza is usually quite good. Inconsistent though. The prices are a little high especially for a salad to accompany dinner. Overall better than most.

My boyfriend and I called in an order and picked up our pizza. We got the stuffed spinach pizza and added mushrooms and sundried tomatoes. The pizza was really good - better than any pizza I've had in Seattle so far. Maybe it wasn't the best pizza I've had in my life, but it was still really good, and I'd take it over Pagliacci any day.

Having just moved here from Chicago...I was pleasantly surprised to find this place. I have gotten take-out twice now; ordered the special both times. The first time was wonderful...great toppings and baked perfectly.
The second time.....I went in and ordered my pizza. Went to wait the 1/2 hour at the bookstore next door, and when I went back to pick up my pizza they realized they had never even put it in the oven. It was just sitting there still. So, another 1/2 hour later....picked up the pizza and took it home to find that it was the soggiest crust I've ever seen for deep dish. It was to the point where the "crust" was sticking to the paper box and I was chewing on cardboard. Not what you expect when you spend $25 on a medium pizza(which is enough for 4 or 5 people, easily).

This is the best pizza in the Udistrict! It tastes delicious! It is made fresh and served hot! The most healthy and tasty pizza I have ever had. It is nothing like 'take-out' pizza. The service can be slow at times, but the pizza is well worth the wait!

Their stuffed spinach pizza (known as a "Popeye") is truly heavenly. Once you try one, no other pizza will do. It takes 40 minutes to cook a large Popeye. To avoid the wait, we order by phone and pick it up just as it is coming out of the oven. We do this twice a month, even though we live on the Eastside. But if you want to eat in, this is a clean, friendly, family owned place that makes you feel at home. Just expect to wait, since miracles take time!

I found the pizza very delicious. After my first visit here, I learned to call in an order in advance ( the stuffed pizza takes about 25 mintues). My favorite, spinach stuffed is fresh with excellent sauce and cheese. What the place lacks in "old world charm" it makes up for in a clean, neat shop with very pleasant young help and yummy Chcago style specialties.

I've sampled the best pizza in every major US city and in more than 40 foreign countries. But I've never tasted anything that can even approach Delfino's stuffed spinach. We serve them often at home for casual lunches and dinners for friends and family. Every one of our guests leaves with Delfino's name and number. Their other pizzas are also great (particularly the "stuffed" or deep dish Chicago style pizzas), but the stuffed spinach is unbeatable.

Their stuffed pizza is worth the price and the wait, and if you order delivery it won't feel like such a long wait. If you're homesick for authentic stuffed pizza, try Delfino's.

Delfino's is good, but overall is not substantially better than most of the "above average" pizza places in Seattle. Personally, as I left the restaurant with my pizza-to-go, I became aware of a warm sensation on my leg. It turns out that a ridiculous amount of warm sauce/water was leaking from the box's corner and going all over the ground and my clothes. Great pizza doesn't drip a cup-full of water (obviously the vaunted Chicago-born oven isn't all-powerful). Besides that, the taste was good, but nothing to shout about. I agree with some critics that Seattle is a pizza-challenged city, as Portland (Flying Pie, DiNicolas) and Vancouver (Flying Wedge) easily outclass what is offered here. If Delfino's is convenient for you, it's not bad, just don't plan on going out of your way for it. And as horrid as traffic/parking is in the U-district, including U-Village, I won't be returning.

Whether you want thick, stuffed or thin crust, Delfino's is without doubt the best pizza in the Seattle area. Not-so-close 2nds are Piecora's, Atlantic Street and Northlake but without doubt the best pizza overall in the Seattle area is Delfino's. Their sauce is the most flavorful and they just do pizza as it should be done...and even cook them in old ovens brought in from Chicago! Top-notch!

Delfino's raises the bar for all other pizza places. Their deep dish is excellent and the dishes are always brought out fresh from the oven. They offer a wide range of toppings as well as combinations already put together. They offer 4 sizes so that you can order for your own individual taste or share with someone else. They also offer delivery. The crust is never too greasy and there's always the right amount of cheese.

While New York may have the reputation for thin pizza, undisputedly, Chicago's Deep & Stuffed pizza is the model. Delfinos is the closest thing to Chicago pizza anywhere. Others try to compare (eg., Uno Express) but its not right. Only downside are younger servers in the restauront without good/experienced supervision. But flavor & texture, and take home, this is the best!!!
