Whenever I see negative comments on a business, I take them with a grain of salt because it is usually irritated customers that write reviews.

I have to comment on Wards to counter some of the negativity. In the 042 zip code, Wards wins hands down. Sure they screw up once in a while, everyone does. Wards is knowledgeable regarding a wide variety of power equipment. Sometimes they are slow because they are slammed. Get your summer equipment tuned up in January and that is not the case. What I appreciate more than anything is that they are honest. I always get the service I pay for and the quality has never been anything but great. Now if those pesky manufactures would just build better equipment.

I bought a used Ariens mower from Ward's and it ran good for a couple of years. Then it wouldn't start and I took it back and they had a wait time of 6 weeks, I took it home with a new float kit from the parts counter and it started right up, took 15 minutes. Now it won't run again. This time I took it apart and found so many things wrong that were obvious and should have been replaced by the shop prior to when I purchased it originally. I would not recommend them for purchases, look around at other places first.

"Deluxe Tune-up" not done when promised. Lawn-mower ran worse than before after $96 service! - was told that it "just needs to warm-up". After warming it up for 2+ hours cutting my lawn, I discovered the blade had not been tightened down. When I took it back, was told that the blade adapter was shot, because I ran something over (I didn't), and that it would be done that afternoon. Next day I return and it hadn't been touched. The teen-aged "mechanic" put on the new adapter and it still didn't run right. "The blade is shot too" (maybe because the bolt wasn't tightened down to begin with!). 40 more dollars later, I get my lawn mower back with oil/fuel spilled all over the deck. I took it to Ward's because I wanted it done right, by a professional. Instead, I get slow, sloppy service by a seasonal worker. I can change parts and tighten bolts too, but I took it to Ward's thinking that I'd have an expert small-engine mechanic work on my Lawnmower. Don't be fooled by all of the shiny, framed mechanic certificates on the wall - Mr. Ward won't be the guy working on your Lawnmower. I could've spent a few bucks more and bought a brand new lawnmower! Lesson learned. You've been warned.

Went to different dealers as well as the box stores, and found that Wards had the nicest and most knowledgeable people of anyplace I went. You can't beat the combination of good equipment and good people.

Though Ward's sells the full range of lawn and home care power equipment, we haven't had the occasion to purchase anything there. But we have a few times had our lawn mowers and generators repaired there, and have never been disappointed with the service or the price. Always fast to get your equipment back to you in working order.
