Restaurant Zoe has moved and lucky me, right across the street! I just had the most amazing meal, awesome service and great dessert. Citysearch is slow on the update, but the new location is 14th and Union. Be sure to make a reservation

I am surprised at the number of high ratings this restaurant gets.

Go online to review their menus but the prices are not listed and I think for good reason. They are high. How about 5 Alaskan Scallops for $28. And there is nothing special about how it is prepared and served that would command that kind of price. The menus have very unique (odd) choices and again, small portions.

In Seattle, with so many really good "hole in the wall" restaurants serving great food at fair and reasonable prices I see no reason to go back to Zoe.

Pros: good location, nice ambience

Cons: portions are small for price, food is so so, service average

Yummy cod meal and wild boar bolognese was surprisingly great to my non-foodie hubby. We really enjoyed the experience.

Pros: Awesome service from host, to server to bread guy!

Cons: mostly seafood...few meat dishes

Other than their lemondrop martini this place didn't do too much for me. The menu leans toward seafood with salmon, halibut, cod often finding a place. The do have a nice open dining room with lots of windows onto Second, so if you're into people watching as you dine that would be a plus.

Many of our friends rave ?? but we do not get it. The food was only okay and the service was not that great. Perhaps we had a bad night ?? but with so many good places in Belltown ?? why risk it.

We had excellent service and the wine list was delcious...cocktails too. I don't think we were expecting such a fancy menu though most of us looked it up on line ahead of time. The food was good - what we tried but we ended up leaving for something a little more familiar. If you like fancy - you will love this place. If you don't, I would suggest another location.

Having heard great reviews of Zoe, I tried it out with some friends during the Dine Around Seattle 30 for $30 special. Dinner got off to a promising start with a nice glass of house wine, the large Garden Greens, the pleasant Celery-D?Anjou Pear Soup, and the rich, tasty Fresh Ricotta Gnudi.

Unfortunately, the meal took a turn for the worse when our entrees arrived. I received a plate of Butternut Squash Risotto that was so underdone as to be crunchy, and had to send it back. Even then, the arborio rice was inconsistently cooked (risotto requires constant attention to get a consistent texture), and the flavors were more overwrought than bold. One of my companions had the Local Arctic Char, which sat on a deliciously marinated bed of cauliflower, but the fish itself was of poor quality. The third member of our party had the Braised Beef Short Rib, which was the best of our entrees, though still somewhat overpowering to the palate.

Dessert should be the highlight of even a mediocre meal, but at Zoe our desserts turned out to be the nadir of our experience. My companions ordered the house-made Passion Fruit Sorbet, and Mint Cocoa Nib Ice Cream. Keeping with the theme of the night, the mint of the ice cream was too strong, blowing away what little remained of our palates. The cocoa nibs were a nice idea, but were either of poor quality or were poorly roasted -- they were far more bitter (unpleasantly so) than what you may have had at Theo or Fran's Chocolates. The passion fruit sorbet somehow managed to be even more overblown -- it was like eating frozen passion fruit juice concentrate. The upside being that the mint ice cream seemed subtle after a mouthful of the sorbet. I made the best choice with a wholly unremarkable (but refreshingly subdued) Maple Vanilla Panna Cotta.

This was far and away my worst dining experience of the seven 30 for $30 restaurants I patronized this year; perhaps it was an off-night for Zoe, but I will not be returning.

The music isn't relaxing and the service is formal, but seems a bit awkwardly conducted; the decor is medocre - a sort of mix between a low-end downtown storefront restaurant and faux-luxury. That said, alot of nice, well-mannered people seem to enjoy the place, so I won't be too hard on it.

My biggest gripe is the price and menu; for $25 each, I and my dinner partner recieved bite-sized "meals" which, in my opinion, tasted only mediocre. The menu was very small and was filled with things that most people avoid - like octopus and tongue - and while I'm all for luxury and the high-end lifestyle, if you're expecting a normal-sized meal, don't go to Zoe; also, if you want a nice, quiet atmosphere, don't go.

Cheesecake Factory and Nordstrom may not be as high end, but as far as my experiences are concerned, they're both significantly more rewarding. That said, I do understand that there are some restaurant connoseours who may enjoy the place, and when you get done they do provide a pleasant little box of matches. As a matter of fact, in my opinion the matches were worth more than the meal. Synopsis? If you enjoy eating tiny helpings of octopus and tongue to the tune of wierd music, then by all means... check it out.

One of the best resturants in town. Food is excellent. Try the gnudi appetizer. The celery/pear soup is well executed. Squash risotto fantastic. The dining room is small and inviting. Service was top notch and unobstrusive. Go for the food, relax and enjoy your dining experience.

My wife and I heard about Zoe from a couple at another of our favorite restaurants (Divine up on Roosevelt). They spoke very highly of it, and they're weren't kidding - it's fantastic. We finally got around to eating there last night.

We had the ricotta gnudi appetizer, the beef short ribs and a pork dish called "The Whole Hog", followed by a dessert called "Thyme for Peaches". Everything was spectacular. Zoe's is one of those rare restaurants where everything you put in your mouth elicits a reflex reaction in which you automatically close your eyes, hold the food in your mouth, and just moan at the sheer pleasure of the flavors.

The peach tart came with "olive oil gelato", which initially had me wondering whether this was yet another example of some pretentious yuppie restaurant throwing together things that didn't work. I mean, ice cream made from olive oil?? But the combination of the gelato and the peach tart was unbelievably good, especially paired with a Pacific Rim late-harvest riesling.

Service was wonderful and very friendly. Zoe's is a little loud, though not unbearably so; and if you go after 830 pm on a weekday it calms down quite a bit.

All in all, we were both hugely impressed with this place: it's definitely a beacon of creativity and good taste in Seattle.

Dining at Zoe is a lovely way to spend an evening. Though we had a to wait a few minutes for our table, the bar is not a bad place to have to sit for a while. The bartender was very knowledgeable about wines and pointed us towards a fantastic Washington state wine we wouldn't have selected on our own. The food was delicious (the chanterelle mushroom appetizer is really amazing) and the service was spot on. The space is really interesting- very elegant yet a bit edgy/industrial- impressive to be able to pull that off. All in all, a wonderful evening and we will certainly return.

We had some sort of salad concoction and we still aren't sure what some of the ingredients were. Otherwise it was pretty good food and service. We like the staff and the drinks.

I'd heard great things about this place so I was excited to try it for dinner. We shared the beet & wild mushroom salad and were disappointed from the start. This was extremely salty and the flavors did not taste good together. Couldn't even finish it, and we were splitting it, and the meal just went downhill from there. I ordered the fried chicken which again was WAY too salty, it just didn't have good flavor and was basically just a chicken breast fried in a pan that I could have made myself. My mom had the sea scallops and those were decent but the same saltiness overpowered her meal as well. The wine list was limited and they didn't even have a pinot grigio - what classy restaurant doesn't carry pinot grigio? We tried to cap off the meal on a good note with the $6 homemade peach sorbet - even this wasn't good. It was chunky and tasteless and we didn't even finish the small two scoops. Unfortunately this meal came to over $100 and the whole thing was a huge disappointment.

I've been to Zoe three times and every time I am blown away by their exceptional service. From the waitstaff to the bartenders to the hosts, they are all friendly, knowledgeable (but never snooty), and attentive. And then there's the food...oh how I long for the delicious food from Zoe. I love the ricotta gnudi as an appetizer and every entree I've tried has been to die for. Each dish is inventive and the menu selection will please any taste. This is by far one of my favorite Seattle restaurants.

I recently ate here with a group of women friends and found the whole experience average at best. The front desk host was cold, rude and unhelpful with chip on his shoulder and I was an imposition by asking if my party had already arrived. The service timing was off, which compromised our dining experience.

There are so many other great places, I would not go back here.

I was somewhat disappointed in the lack of hospitality shown last evening when I asked friends to join me for a cocktail and an appetizer. We were obviously taking up a "valuable" table, as the waiter and expo asked numerous times if we were finished with dishes and glasses still half full. After 3 or 4 times, we finally gulped down the rest and quickly paid our bill - obviously, the warmth was lacking. Although the food and wine were excellent, I would ask them to reconsider the word "hospitality".

My boyfriend and I stopped in recently on a Sunday evening for a bite and of course it was packed. They promptly offered us a couple of seats in the bar area overlooking the restaurant. It was great taking in the atmosphere from there, and really was much more romantic than a standard table. The seared foie gras could not be better...even compared to some of the best establishments in Manhattan. Service impeccable. We'll be back soon.

We went to Zoe on a Sunday night with another couple from San Fran and instead of getting a babysitter we brought along our 2-year old daughter, praying that 1) she would behave and 2) the staff was cool with kids. Well our dreams came true; daughter was brilliant but the waitstaff/maitre'd, were even more so. A huge thank you for making our daughter feel special and welcomed, versus "dealt with".

The food is a much bigger and better issue. We started out with the sweetbreads, rabbit, and grilled octopus. We are sweetbread fans and are loving their recent popularity in the US. Unfortunately, not everyone understands the nuances to cooking them. Cheff Scott's crew did a beautiful job; slightly crunchy on the outside while very tender on the inside. The pate was very tasty and moist and the octopus was grilled nicely. I had the halibut special for the main course and was cooked just as I requested. The english bean, pancetta, onion ragout was also VERY tasty. My husband had the braised lamb which was very well seasoned and delicious. One interesting item was the sauteed ramps (very similar to young green onions). What a unique flavor and a special treat. Apparently they are only available during very short periods of time during the spring.

I will most definitely come back to Zoe and highly recommend it.

At last, a fine dining restaurant that offers impeccable service, mouthwatering cuisine and reasonable prices that won't leave you broke. It's best to dine before 6pm because you will find nearby street parking and then only pay till 6pm. The regular menu prices are reasonable that warrants repeat visits once the 25 for $25 deal expires the end of this month. You may want to make multiple reservations this month to take full advantage of Chef's Scott's wonderful cuisines at rock bottom prices. I paid extra for two generous slabs of oregon rabbit pate that was excellent. The ricotta gnudi is simply fantastic that makes you wish italian restaurants would replace their gnocchi with gnudi. The prime beef coulet is generously served with 4 perfectly cooked medium rare beef. A generous serving of spinach with pearl onions and bacon and creamy mashed potatoes accompanies the beef. The dessert, a creamy not too decadent but perfect milk chocolate potde creme with cherries and peppermint sauce and a dollop of whipped cream is wonderful. Service is impeccable that all neighboring restaurants should emulate. Generous pour of single serving wine, prompt removal of dishes, constant refillng of water, and an endless bread supply with a plate of EVOO and balsamic vinegar to slather in. Thank you Zoe and Chef Scott for presenting a wonderful menu for the price conscious diner who seeks perfect service and quality food.

We spent Valentines Day dinner here and arrived 45 minutes late for our 5pm reservation (the only time slot left). The hostess was very friendly and sat us right away. We never felt rushed. My boyfriend order the seared tuna which was very good, but my duck was divine. It arrived very rare, but was so tender and flavorful. One of the best duck dishes around. They had about 7 inventive cocktails and were beautifully made. We had 2 drinks, 2 entrees, 1 side and 2 delicious desserts for $90. We were very pleased with our first time experience at Restaurant Zoe, definitely a place worth going back!

I went on a Saturday night first time ever. My date and I arrived very early thinking that we would go to a local bar and have a drink but stopped by the restaurant, and they were able to sneak us in early. The service was great! Our waiter was very knowledgeable and able to suggest items. I can personally suggest the spicy octopus for a starter, fantastic!!! The only downside to the evening was that we were seating next to a group of 10 which really increased the noise of the entire place. I would suggest in the future that larger groups not be allowed.

This place is simply the best restaurant in the entire city. I came in without a reservation on a very busy night and a wonderful man promptly greeted me and answered all my questions while he waited for the hostess to come to the front. I was given a table, not the best in the restaurant, but considering the crowd I was feeling lucky to be seated. The same man who greeted me at the front door was also my server and it was some of the best service I've ever had. Easy going and professional at the same time, never phoney, and while everyone was rushing around I never felt hurried as I asked my questions. The braised lamb shoulder I was steered to was an aromatic bowl of bliss. I could have eaten an entire bowl of just the garlic gloves and gnocci, it was over the top. I think the best part of the night was in ordering wine. My waiter queried me on everything, from what style I wanted to how much money wanted to spend. He then steered me to numerous options, confidently described them and kept saying things like "I could drink a bottle of this myself" and "that's going to be yummy with the lamb". Everything was perfect and I cannot wait to come back.

My boyfriend and I decided to take advantage of the 25 for $25 at restaurant zoe. The fabulous service started right when we walked in the door. The hostess & host were both extremely nice & sincere. We were seated promptly and the host was more than willing to answer the questions that we had about corkage fees & such. Our waiter was also extremely nice & attentive. He answered the many questions we had about the menu and gave us fabulous recommendations on both the food and the wine. The appetizer that we had, the gnudi, was so incredible it just melted in my mouth. The beef coulet that I had was one of the best beef entrees I've had in a long time. These people really know the true meaning of medium rare. My boyfriend's pork tenderloin was also very good. The flavors that they pair at restaurant zoe are interesting, but not over the top, just plain fabulous. The desserts they have are also very good. I had the chocolate ice cream with port cherries (very good) and little shortbread cookies (the best shortbread I've ever tasted). The decor and ambience is simple, modern, and very relaxed. This is probably one of the best dinners that my boyfriend and I have had. The staff there is very attentive and sincere. We are definitely coming back and bringing friends!

Pros: everything

My husband and I have lived in Belltown for a few years and just now decided to try Restaurant Zoe. Wish we hadn't waited so long because this place had it all - the kind of dining experience we'd been looking for. Service was impeccable, the food was amazing and the ambiance was just the right blend between being trendy and romantic. We could tell the management and the chefs took the details to heart when creating their menu and service standards. Service pluses: Our table was crumbed between courses, our silverware pre-sets arrived at the perfect time, our bread and olive oil was refilled before we even realized they were out, our server was extremely knowledgable about the food and wine menu and on our way out we were thanked by the our server, the hostess and manager. Food: The pear soup was delicate and tasteful, the entrees were beautifully presented and the desserts were decadent and perfectly portioned. A+ for Zoe!

Wow! The food here is great. I had the pork tenderloin with gorgonzola and figs. Yum! My friends had the duck with cherries and the beef. All three were beautifully presented and the flavor combinations were fantastic.

The atmosphere is casually sophisticated and the service was excellent. We showed up without a reservation on a full night - and instead of being snotty or annoyed, the maitre d' seemed excited to figure out how to help us. After a brief pleasant wait at the bar with one of their great drinks (sage margarita!), we were promptly seated.

Can't wait to go back!

My wife advises me that the bartender here makes the best Cosmo in Seattle. Having repeated this message I would add that the food was equally impressive. I was more fond of the appetizers than the entrees. I Loved the corn risotto with lobster mushrooms, and the grilled spicy octopus. I've had better peking duck but the Alaskan Halibut was a treat.

Let's just say GREAT. The owner/chef really knows what he is doing. You can tell that the staff is trained very well. I am usually impressed with servers in fine restaurants when they are knowledgable and pleasant but the real test is in the bussers. Yes bussers, this is where you can tell how well a place is prepared and trained. Our busser was on top of everything, especially the small things, like even taking the salt and pepper off the table when it was time for dessert. The food was portioned perfectly and flawless taste. The drinks were not just poured, but prepared in the glass. They tasted fantastic. The only cons were personal ethic issues with veal and foie gras.

I admit my favorite thing about this restaurant was the extremely attractive and helpful bartender (Tom?...he had a southern accent). I would go back just to have him serve me a drink :) That point aside, the ambience is nice, and the menu is just right. I would highly recommend Restaurant Zoe if you are in town and looking for somewhere nice but not overpriced. It would be good for couples or a small group (probably not more than 6 or 7).

YUMMY!!! I could not have asked for a more perfect birthday dinner with my sweetie than I had last night! Seriously, from one of the best cosmopolitans ever to the appetizers to the fantastic entrees, Zoe really had me. And, the service was great - the servers (the whole staff is involved, Chef Scott was even pouring water!) and hosts were attentive, courteous and professional, but also sensitive to our privacy and the food timing, which was not at all rushed. We had for our appetizers the morels and the pork bellies. We shared the pork tenderloin and beef courses for our entrees. All of the food was perfectly prepared and the flavors mingled in an interesting, but not over done, way. We had a very good wine with dinner, but felt that the wine list could have used a few more choices. Overall, Restaurant Zoe is a winner and we'll definitely be back!

Visiting Seattle for the first time I was lucky to stumble on Zoe's review. A stellar recommendation was also made by a local colleague. I went for the octopus and would go back for anything on the menu. Everything we tried was fresh and unique. I'd only wished I'd saved room for a cheese plate at the end. Aaron, our waiter, gave great suggestions and we were visited by the chef and manager... nice... and gracious. Nice tight wine list as well.

I dined at ZOE on Sunday, and had an absolutly incredible experience. From the moment I walked in the door and was greeted by the friendly and professional hostess, I knew we were in for a real treat. Our server provided us with great wine suggestions, as well as a great sense of humor. And oh my goodness, the food! I never thought Salmon could get any better, especially in the Northwest, but Zoe managed to pull off a top-notch dish like no other I have ever enjoyed. Do yourself a favor and dine at Zoe when your in the mood for an incredible night out.

It's sad to see a classy city like seattle being bombarded with more and more restaurants trying to be the new over-the-top hot spots for the twenty-something individual. Restaurant Zoe is doing just this, with its over-priced food, laughable wine list, and completely incompetent and faux friendly service. Why do owners and managers feel the need to stock their restaurants with employees who are so put together with their ridiculous outfits and caked on makeup? It makes me want to run in the opposite direction. And will someone please tell the hostess that her insincerity towards the customers is truly unbelievable? I don't think i've ever been around someone as asinine as she.

I really enjoy dining at Zoe. THe ambiance is energetic and I like the buzz of people enjoying their meal. The food is always consistent and I particularly love the Hangar Steak, Scallops and Pork Tenderloin. The service is friendly and knowledgable about the menu. The cocktails list is impressive and I love the non-alcoholic drink too. Even thought it's in the middle of Belltown it's not a see and be seen place. It's a genuinely warm restaurnat with great food and service

My husband and I were treated to Zoe as a wedding gift and you can be sure that we will return again and again. The food was great, the service was great, the style is great. I have to give the staff major props- they are professional and friendly. The wine list is expansive and they also have a good selection of "mocktails"- perfect for the pregnant! go soon!

I don't know what I would rate higher. The food or the service. Both were fantastic. On a busy night when the bartender went down for the count with back problems requiring our waiter to sub, there were no glitches. The owner found time to come around personally to explain the problem (which never was a problem) and again twice more to check on how we were enjoying the evening. Superb.

Welcoming bistro setting the midst of Belltown. We were there on a busy Sat night and we enjoyed the energy in the room. The menu is small but had many interesting selections and it was hard to choose. The food was delicious and presented nicely. The service was friendly but a bit harried on such a busy night. The wine list needs a llittle attention. I look forward to coming back again soon.

I ate here on a busy Friday night with my boyfriend and another couple from out of town. I was slightly nervous since I had picked the restaurant based on recommendations from others and had never eaten here. I LOVED it. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, our waitress suggested the best wine to compliment all of our meals perfectly. My talapia with cous cous was lovely, it simply melted in my mouth. The chef came out to talk to us afterwards which was very impressive (even though I heard this was the standard there and it made a great impression). It was an awesome restaurant experience overall.

Came to Seattle from LA for the weekend and must say ZOE was the hightlight. Having lived in NYC and experienced the pinnacle of restaurants, ZOE ranks right up there and completely exceeded our expectations. Our waitress was attentive and friendly. Had the Hanger Steak which was unbelievable and had a mozzarella appetizer which was amazing. All in all a 10 out of 10! Go there, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

We've been to Zoe 6 or 7 times and keep going back - we've never had anything but an outstanding experience here. Service is consistently prompt and professional, the menu is outstanding, and it has a great Belltown ambience. The food is a Northwest interpretation of Italian, using local ingredients. The focus on fresh ingredients and inventive updates of traditional Italian cuisine make for a sumptuous dining experience (the large raviolio and octopus appetizers are two of our favorites). What's more, the owner/chef routinely works the floor to ensure that you're having a great meal. We'll definitely be back, again and again.

I've been to Zoe a few times now. The food is generally very good, but the service is variable, and the wine list...well, bring your own bottle and pay the $15 corkage fee. I've studied the wine list pretty extensively and most of the wines are not very special, even at the > $60 range. Some, like the '93 Chianti, are laughably overpriced, and way past their prime (and it wasn't a very good wine even in its prime).

I do like the atmosphere probably more than anything at the restaurant.

The service - well, I once arrived shortly after opening, and although there were no customers in yet, had to wait a while to be seated, wait a while for bread, wait some more to order (by now it's been 20 minutes), and then wait, wait, wait, until I had to literally jog to make the symphony on time.

If we lived in town we'd certainly be regulars. With every visit we come away more amazed at both the outstanding food and awesome service. Especially wonderful that the chef comes out and personally checks with his diners -- an easy job I'd say. It's all so good! Everyone rants and raves and his friendly neighborhood approach is appreciated as the line often snakes out the door for mid-week dinner. The food presentation and quality rivals any restaurant in New York City or San Francisco. Maybe better.

Restaurant Zoe is my new favorite restaurant, and I will tell you all why. Besides the fact that the food is incredible, wine menu on point, and ambience perfect, the service is by far the best I have ever received. Nathan, our server, was very informative and professional, the owner/chef stopped by to say hello, and the extremely versatile and gregarious hostess (austin?) continually put a smile on me and my husbands face. Dining at Zoe is truly a treat, and I hope everyone has the opportunity to experience this sensational belltown restaurant.

This is the restaurant of choice for me in Seattle. The food is great, starting from the foccacia bread, to the ravioli appetizer, to the kobe beef entre, to the sinful deserts. If you are in town for one night, Zoe's is the ONLY place to bring someone. It has the ambience, the service and good food. I have been there at least twice a year (due to my pocket book) for the last 3 years and have never been disappointed. Oh, and the owner always check up on you about the service. Whats not to like.

This is THE best in Seattle..hands down. From chef Scott Staples amazing, seasonal, organic, delicious menu that never ceases to amaze us, to the fantastic staff and crew. We eat here as often as we can, and always feel like we are treated like family. The manager is beyond kind and always accomodating to parties of 2 or 30. The waitstaff is the best in the city. They take the greatest pride in Zoe and the food that is served. We recommend it to everyone from in-town to out-of-towners and try to bring as many people here as possible to experience the cuisine and atmosphere. They also do special dinners with wineries or local organic farmers and they are educational and delightful. We love to eat out, and do quite frequently in Seattle and our travels. Zoe remains one of our absolute favorites.

So, I used to love Zoe, about two years ago. But don't be fooled: This is not the same place. The last two times we went, we had reservations but waited more than half an hour (the second time, we just left). They couldn't have cared less. For these prices, you're not only paying for food, but also for service, and it's just terrible. Come on, people: Put this sham of a restaurant out of business -- they don't deserve to be successful.

I had the pleasure of dining at restaurant zoe on 3/16/05. The food is perfectly portioned, serfvice impeccable, and overall ambience was warm and welcoming after a long commute. The most impressive thing was how they handled themselves concerning a 45 minute wait for those of us who had reservations. We were already 15 min. late for our 7:30 res, and did not get seated until 8:15!! This sort of thing can ruin a night out, but not at zoe. Consistently attentive and updating us on the progress of our table, I was most impressed with how the host and hostess handled this less than ideal situation. I LOVE RESTAURANT ZOE!!!!
