GREAT clinic

by Shonna R.

I have had nothing but positive experiences with Value clinic. The staff are empathetic and take the time to explain things. I almost lost a dog to a bad virus 3 years ago and they were able to save him :) Monday I had to take my puppy in and he's very sick and AGAIN they rushed to his aid and kept me calm while staying empathetic. Pitbulls are one of the breeds that can catch parvo even being vaccinated and that's what happened to my puppy Jackson. He is now at home recovering with antibiotics and his IV treatment every 8 hours. He is DOING great! I want to say thank you to everyone at the clinic.

Whiny Bunch of Babies Who complain about this Clinic

by Mike B.

Blah Blah Blah! To much Money, Not Value Clinic, Vet not for less, This is all Whiny babies, I have lived in puyallup for a short period of time now, and even though not every day is the same results but i find them caring for the animals then i see in the Clients, the prices is much more reasonable then other pet clinic, especially down the road. I have witness much more humanly efforts in these doctors as i have intended. I lost a friend and i took to value pet clinic to be taken care for even though prices does not matter! Prior to my hardship, other clinic to my sup rise they want to charge me 10X more than Value Pet Clinic. I chose Value Pet Clinic cause the environment that made my friend feel during th visit happy. Complaining about the prices don't have pets

IMPRESSED!!

by JoAnne R.

I recently went into Value Pet Clinic to have my cat seen. He had a giant abcess on his side he must have gotten in a cat fight. The veterianarian recomended surgery to have it lanced and flushed. I had just recently been off of work for a couple months and didn't have much money. I really felt like I was a bad pet owner for not being able to take care of my poor cat. The assistant was very nice and worked with me to see what I could afford, they were able to clean up the wound awake and sent me home with antibiotics to give him. They told me that the just meds might not completly take care of the infection (but it did! it ended up healing great!!) I really appriciate them working with me!!! I will definately go back and thank them so much for working with me!!!

Good Vets, Good Value

by Meghan C.

I will continue to go back to Vets for Less/Value Vets and here's why...

A few years ago I took my dog to the Petsmart clinic in Silverdale, Wa. The nurse who looked at our dog and administered her shots informed me that she wasn't yet accredited. That in itself should have been an indication to me that I put my animal in the wrong hands. This was the first pet I had owned and I wasn't aware how the "vet tech" accreditation system worked. When I purchased my dog she had been spayed and still had suchers on her abdomen, which I was told would dissolve. However, she began growing a large bubble on her stomach. While in the Petsmart clinic I inquired as to whether or not this could be a cyst, they told me yes and that eventually it would absorb into the body. I am NOT a vet, I do not claim to understand animal science, I was only assuming. I expect my vet to know the answer, because he has the degree. A few days later my dog started bleeding from her suchers, this time I took her to Vets for Less/Value Vets because we had a family friend who worked there. The Dr. there informed me it was NOT a cyst. My dog had become allergic to her inside suchers and her body was trying to reject them. Her insides were trying to push out and the only thing holding them in was the outside suchers. I understand that there was no way the original doctor who put them in would foresee this occurring, but the Petsmart Vets should have have known. Vets for Less/Value Vets took my dog in, did the surgery that day and only charged me for the anesthetic. Which they didn't have to do, but I appreciated because I had just paid Petsmart for their services (not cheap by the way). Bottom line, two other vets screwed up, but "Value Vets" caught it. I'm not saying that makes them perfect or that they do it right every time, but this establishes them as good vets to me. Eventually, the dog made a full recovery and remained very healthy.

I know that what they did for me was a favor. Not everyone will get a discount if they go here, although the prices are very affordable none-the-less.

I can empathize with people who feel they were treated poorly and/or they didn't have the experience they felt they deserved. On the flip side of the coin I have also been present on the busiest of days, with neurotic and unreasonable customers who feel their animals deserved precedence and I have witnessed the staff handle all of that efficiently and respectably.

Having been in a similar job, I recognize that you can't please everybody 100% of the time, some days will be better than others. What I know is that the care I have received, as well as my pets, has been timely and thorough. It's a great value but I believe your experience here depends on you, your expectations and your attitude.

I LIKE THEM

by Mike B.

value pet clinic (used to be named vets for less), has been my regular vet since i have lived in this area, at least 5 years. they have had some changes with staff and doctors, but they are good people. they really do care about you, and your animals. just go in there one day, and take alook around. meet the people that you will be working with your animals, if you dont like them, go somewhere else, but they have been nothing but nice, HONEST people to me.

GREAT PRICES, GREAT CARE!

by LouAnn C.

i am so surprised on all of these bad reviews. i have been going to this clinic for several years. Dr. Snyman, the owner has done knee surgery on my dog, at half the price of the other vets, but double the care. i go in there all the time for routine things like nails and vaccines, and the prices your cant find anywhere else, and they are fast! the front desk girls, and the assistants are very nice and helpful. one day when i was in there, a man brought in a litter of half dead puppies. the man left the puppies, and all of the staff ended up saving the puppies lives, and nursing them back to health for weeks. these people do have a large amount of clients, so some people don't like the "in and out" idea of it. but it works for me, and i will forever take my babies to them. i trust them 110%

Just Okay

by theresa t.

I took my cat to Vets for Less at the recommendation of my sister in law. I wasn't impressed with the front desk staff. They weren't "rude" they just weren't friendly. The doctor I had for my cat seemed to be very competent and caring. She gave me several options for care and answered all my questions. Addressing prices, I spent a total of $500 for my cat. Unfortunately, he wasn't able to pull through his liver failure and he ended up being put to sleep. I feel that Pets for Less is cheaper for routine office visits, vaccinations and euthanasia services. Blood work and diagnostic testings (ie: x-rays, ultra sounds, etc), I didn't feel, were any cheaper than my normal vets office. I probably would've spent the same amount of money had I taken my cat to my normal vet (River Rd Animal Hospital)

Shots only

by R D.

I've used "Vets4Less" for a number of years solely for routine vaccinations and rabies shots ONLY. I do not recommend them for any type of surgery major or minor or anything else for that matter. One time when I took my dog in for routine yearly shots I asked the vet to take a look at his eye, (he had been pawing at it for a couple days and I couldn't see anything). The vet took a look at the eye, no drops, no light, and said he didn't see anything and it was fine. Well I took him to his "regular" vet a couple days later and found out he had a sliver in his eye that needed to be removed. This is why I will not endorse anything but simple shots. They are affordable, (cheap to be honest), and I take my dogs there simply because the extra $50 my vet tacks on for the 'office visit' in addition to the cost of shots I feel is asinine.

Bad Vet Medicine

by M P.

Nine days ago I brought my pure bred retriever for a deep laceration repair on his chest where the shoulder is. The laceration was caused by another dog, his brother. The laceration was pretty ugy and deep. I commended my faithful friend into the hands of Vets For Less in Puyallup, which is now known as VAUE VETS, fully believing they were competent repair the wound for proper healing. Three days later after my dog was treated and stitched back together the wound split open. We immediately returned to VALUE VETS ( formerly Vets For Less Puyallup) to deal with the problem. At no charge ( an eyeopening sign that something was done wrong) Value Vets took my dog in for repairs again. Well . . . one day later the wound was open again. We did not let the third time be the charm. Today we took our trusted companion to FIRGROVE ANIMAL HOSPITAL just a few miles south down the road. The vets there were awesome. They came out to the lobby area to look at our dog. The first comment was that the repiar was bad from the get go. The repair essentially was superficial and only closed the skin of the wound. Sutures were needed in the deep tissue area of the wound and were not done. The work done by Value Vets (formery known as VETS FOR LESS PUYALLUP was junk and caused undo stress to to both us, the dog owners, and our poor dog. It is interesting that Value Vets advertises laceration repair as one of its standard services. But it was obvious from this experience that they do not have a clue about treating wounds on dogs. There is much more to this experience, these are just the main points of disappointment.

VERY disappointed!

by Anonymous

Never again will I take another animal to Vets4Less! The name is deceiving - they tack on and charge for every little item, that other vets don't. When asked if I wanted my dogs nails clipped while she was under anesthesia, they said it was nearly $20! (other vets just do it, they don't charge extra), it takes 60 seconds. Then, ask if I want her to have a pain shot -- for another $15, and again -- other vets don't ask or charge extra, they just give pain meds, like humane vets DO!

On the pet info. form to fill out when checking them in -- don't bother wasting your time -- they don't read it. Doesn't matter that it might be vital information -- it's ignored. I've had this happen twice.

Also had to have a spay done twice -- don't ask me how they weren't able to do it right the first time, the receptionist told me on the phone, "It must have been a spay gone bad". WHAT IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN?!? And, yes -- I got to pay for it the second time, too. Vets4Less?!?!? I don't THINK so!

The only competent person working there seems to be Bryan, and he only works on Saturdays. The vets are rude, the front desk girls are total ditzes, and they give very poor care.

Vets for Last Resort!

by Anonymous

I used to take my three animals to Vets for Less and two misdiagnosis' made me stop and now they go to Sumner Animal Hospital!

The first misdiagnosis was with my dog who was losing her fur. While in the exam room I told the vet about three times that she had fleas and would that have anything to do with it? He assured me no...took bloodwork and a skin scraping (costing over $150)! When standing by the counter to pay, I noticed a brochure for Advantage flea control and inside it showed a picture of a dog who was allergic to fleas....it looked exactly like my dog!!! When I expressed my concern of the vet's complete disregard of my comments and I was refunded the money for the bloodwork and skin scraping. It unnerved me that I was able to figure out my dog's problem without the 8 years of vet school that supposed vet had!

The second and last time was when my cat started losing weight and was listless. They took bloodwork and told me my cat was in kidney failure and to have her put down. I got a second opinion (from a vet at Sumner Animal Hospital) and was told the kidney reading could be a red herring for something else. He told me that my cat was depressed and suffering from irritable bowel syndrome. An over the counter medication was all it took and she was her old self in a matter of weeks. If the vet at Vets Who Could Care Less had his way...he would have killed her right then and there.

I would never take another animal there again. Sumner will work out payments if necessary...just ask. If you value your pets at all...give them good vet care!

Vets for careless

by Anonymous

I am new to the area and needed my cat to be treated for ear mites he picked during the cross-country trip. I felt like I became a number on an assembly line as soon as I walked in the door. I was already familiar with the treatment of ear mites, but was trying to be pushed into a $200+ bill for a teeth cleaning as well. I had to be pretty firm with insisting on the ear mite treatment and nothing else. I hope to find a much more personable clinic for my cat's future vet care, including his teeth cleaning. All-in-all, he did get appropriate care, but the abruptness and seemingly lack of concern would make me very apprehensive about handing over my cat for an out of sight procedure.

True to their name - quality a little to be desired

by Matt B. | insider_expert Insider Expert | Rank: 2,458

This place is indeed just about the cheapest place to get something done. However, it really can make your pet hate going to the vet as they are very rough with the animals. They don't really seem to enjoy working with them. It is like taking kids to the dentist, it is worth a few extra dollars to go somewhere that makes it fun for the patient or pet (whatever the case may be)

PROS: Cheap, good location
CONS: People not really nice to animals

Cheap yet unremarkable

by Julie Y. | insider Insider | Rank: 25,407

Vets for Less is a Clinic for dogs and cats. It's a walk-in only (unless you are having any surgical procedure done) , first come, first serve basis. If you are looking for something cheap and affordable, this is the place. If you want a vet that gets to know you and becomes aquainted with you and your pet this is not the place for you. Since this is a a clinic, most times your pet will not be seen by the same vet.
The majority of the staff are friendly, there is a female vet that tends to push her opinions as fact which you can take with a grain of salt.

PROS: Cheap and affordable. No appt necessary for shots
CONS: Most times your pet will not be seen by the same vet
