Ratings_icons New Testament Christian Church is for you to decide

John E.

I went to this church off and on for years. The people are nice but seem to be so happy with smiles on their face all the time it seems they are faking it. Everytime I went back it seemed ok at first but the more I stayed the more weird it felt things became. The church also seems to be very ritual and legalistic. Sometimes it seems like they make you feel like you have to be at church every service if you are not working or else you are not a true christian and they have a lot of services, which was a good thing though for those with weird schedules I did like. They make their church seem to be like the best church ever and nothing else compares. I also got the impression that if you werent in church somebody would be calling to check up on you to see where you were and what you were doing and possibly try to catch you in a lie. They also make it seem like you have to get there to receive Jesus. Once I heard the pastor preaching on how this lady didnt make it out to the church in time and she died before going so she went in hell and everybody was sobbing in there like they saw her judgement. I cant say one way or another if this church is a good thing or bad thing, but I do know one thing now and I wont go back unless I actually hear God speak to me that it is where I belong.

Ratings_icons NTCC ministers invited to respond

Kristofer M.

I invite all current preachers in NTCC to respond to this. I will offer constructive criticism of NTCC based on scripture, which is the only way to measure a church's fidelity. If you know the Bible, like a licensed preacher ought to, then this should not be offensive to you. Hopefully, you will accept this as a friendly offer to engage in a scholarly mutual ascent to the truth, whether it would be for me, or for you, or for both of us (or all of us- depending on how many participate).

I will note that NTCC is a holiness organization. They teach that women should not cut their hair or wear make-up, or wear pants. They preach against worldliness, and have been, in the past very strict about this. In recent years, they have relaxed some of their more strict teaching to allow ministers to watch t.v. and use the internet, and even perhaps watch videos of a clean nature. It is hard to determine what, to them, is good or bad, because they have been changing a lot since it has been made public, via the internet, how their leadership behaves toward their younger ministers. They have been traditionally very controlling in many ways (i.e. permission needed to fellowship with someone outside of organized fellowship at the Bible school, or if you are assigned to minister at the headquarters). It is up to the individual to decide if this is a healthy environment for an aspiring minister to 'train' him to be disciplined, or a controlling environment that is handicapping to a developing mind. I think that sometimes there are things that are not written in black and white, but one must use their gut-instinct about. More importantly, however, one should consult the scriptures, and pray, and even fast, if the answer is still hard to find. That having been said, let us consult the scriptures concerning NTCC's beliefs and cuture.

Let us start with the question of water baptism. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but from my experience, NTCC teaches that it is not necessary for salvation, and that the reason that the early Christian converts were persuaded to get baptized so soon after believing the gospel was because the early church was made up of jews who had believed the gospel, and - for them - it was a big deal to be baptized, because they were showing all the jews that they were no longer jews, but christians.

Can anyone out there affirm that this is their teaching, as a witness?

Okay, what is different about today? Isn't it still true that in this ungodly generation, for a person to get baptized it is still a bold declaration that they are no longer living for the world and sin, but for Jesus?

Secondly, but more importantly, we should look at scripture:

First of all, I invite you to look at Matthew 3:16, by which you should observe that Jesus was filled with the Holy Spirit when he came up out of the water having been water baptized. The correct order, I believe, for a Christian, should be first, to believe and repent, then be baptized, then be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Ratings_icons Save your personal identity and love yourself for who you are

Whoa M.

This is a sexist environment where first names are replaced with brother or sister. Married women are banned from gainful employment and are not allowed to wear pants because men would view them as sluts. I was a pastor's wife for many years and women are constanly pressured to change their behavior and dress, although this does not solve the pornography issue some men members have. Pornography is a problem pointed out at each organizational conference.
This church does not release any financial statements. They do absolutely NO charity work and preach a prosperity gospel where financial wealth is the number one goal. They push political views over the pulpit and teach homophobia.
This organization preys on young military members, the lonely, and the gullible. Save your identity and money and don't be used. I read a quote yesterday that said, "There are many parallels between organized religion and organized crime."

You have to make your own decisions whether this church is for you or not. That is with any church you attend. I went for a number of years and decided it was not for me.

Ratings_icons I attended here for over 4 years...

Christian M.

The News Tribune (Tacoma) published its first article about this church on January 30, 1999.

You may notice a sameness of dress, speech, actions, worship style (raising hands at the same time, speaking in tongues at the same time, clapping at the same time), message content (money and NTCCs enemies are at least mentioned most services), and personality among regular attendees of this church.

Children under 10 are not encouraged to be in the adult services. They should be put in the nursery or in NTCCs childrens church. Going to the bathroom once service starts is frowned upon; so go before service starts. Also, ensure you have paper money to put in the offering, loose change in the offering is discouraged.

Strict dress code once you join. Dresses only, no shorts for anyone, no hats in church services/Bible studies (even ladies hats), no flip-flops/sandals, no jeans and t-shirts, no sweat pants, tuck your shirt in, wear a belt, wear socks, etc.

Strict grooming standard once you join. No make-up, no hair cutting/trimming for women, no jewelry [watches and wedding rings are OK], short military style hair cuts for men, facial hair is discouraged, etc.

Upon arriving, you will notice guards posted around the parking lot. They will be the ones with the walkie-talkies, and will also tell you where to park. If it is found out your car leaks oil, you will be encouraged to park on the gravel parking area located on the far end (away from the church) of the paved parking area.

A KJV only church. But, they have been known to discouraged people from bringing their Bible to church.

I went (a few times) to NTCCs training center, located in rural Santa Fe Missouri. Only NTCCs senior leadership, Pastors, Assistant Pastors, Bible College students, immediate family members, and certain select church members are ever permitted to attend. Children under 4 years old are not allowed on the campground at any time.

At the training center, they have ample lodging, and a cafeteria. This is a three day, four night semi-annual conference/training session. You are permitted to come and go, but the gates are locked at about 11 pm each night, only to be reopened at about 5 am each morning. There are no recreational facilities, and no recreational activities are permitted. There is a fee to attend.

Preaching, teaching, seminars/workshops, prayer, meals, and group fellowship are the only things scheduled from about 6 am until about 11 pm each day. No tobacco products, firearms, or alcohol is permitted. There is a curfew (be in your quarters), lights out, no noise policy while the gates are locked. All training activities and services are mandatory for those permitted to attend.

I found it difficult (impossible) to access the leadership in a meaningful way, as they are surrounded by many levels of bureaucracy (a military style chain of command), and physical security measures (guards, gates, video surveillance, movement detection, etc. at their various compounds).

There is a Wikipedia article about NTCC, and many members and ex-members blogs, which documents all of this information, and more. This church organization also has an official website.

If you have any concerns, and if you do attend, you may want to consider not telling them anything about yourself, until you have checked them out. Try not to give them your address or phone number. Consider not filling out a guest book entry when you do arrive. Also, consider not confiding anything at all to them, as personal information sometimes becomes content in their preaching, and may be used to keep you compliant once you join.

This organization has been in existence for over forty years, under various names. Recently, due to intense outside scrutiny, and much information being made available to the general public via the internet, some of NTCCs policies have been amended. But, the change has been slow and cosmetic; with many hick-ups along the way. I no longer go to this church, but I attended here for over 4 years, and the above information is no more than a few months old as of this date.

In spite of all the above (and much I havent shared), NTCC could be a great fit for you depending on what you are looking for in a church home. Just be smart, caveat emptor, and good luck.

Ratings_icons Please Heed the Warning to Stay Away

Tracy D.

My advice is to stay as far away from this so-called church as you can.

If you want a legalistic, cult-like experience, then this is the place for you.

The women cannot wear make up or cut their hair.

Marriages and families have been broken up....all in the name of God and his will.

The pastor and other church members will become highly involved in your life and will manipulate you and coerce you into loyalty to them and in loyalty to giving them ten percent of everything you make or receive financially and much more on top of that.

If you value your family and friends and job and children and money and future, then stay away from this church.

They are abusive and controlling and not in a good way. Can there be a good way?

Ratings_icons A Waste of Time and Money!

J L.

It literally is a waste of time and money.........this church will suck you dry of both! The goal is to keep you so busy that you don't have time to think!
The so called "Seminary" is just another leach that is waiting to attach itself to it's next victim.
This Seminary has no validity except within "their" churches, further it's teaching staff (if you can call them that) are nothing but unlearned wanna be teachers, in other words......they DO NOT carry teaching degrees, the classes are nothing but dictation from the paper or books that they have in front of them! Again........a waste of money and time!!
Want to fellowship with another church while attending this one? Forget it! There is no fellowship with other churches, period!
If you leave NTCC you can forget all of the friends that you made while you were there because they are TOLD not to talk to you.........after all you are a "reprobate" if you do not attend NTCC.....right?
This church considers itself the Epiphany of all churches!
I would say "see for yourself" but I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone!
Stay clear of this group and their controlling ways, there are many decent churches out there, do yourself a favor and visit them instead!

Ratings_icons New Testament Christian Church is for Real Christians

True C.

I've attending NTCC for many years. I used to be a member of a large Pentecostal denomination before. So I wasn't ignorant when I first came. I will say the presence of God is real here. Many people know little about Rev. Davis but I will say he had finances from investments from many years ago. He also donated the land for the camp ground. And has donated other land to the church as well. . But they said Jesus was a devil also.

Ratings_icons New Testament Christian Church is crooked

Kevin J.

This church has a lot of questionable practices to say the least. One big problem is there is no transparency in their finances. It is disturbing that the leadership has lavish houses and cars, but the congregation live in apartments. And the Pastor and founder of the organization gave 39 acres of land to his daughter and son-in-law, who just happens to be the president of the organization.

Ratings_icons New Testament Christian Church Is Full Of Double Standards And Hypocrites.

J C.

NTCC is a farce. The main function of the NTCC is to control your life and scam your money. Believe me; I was a part of it long enough to know. The NTCC wants women to wear dresses only and no pants at all, unless they are exercising. Men are strongly discouraged from wearing facial hair. The NTCC teaches that is is a sin for a woman to work on a job. The NTCC teaches that it is Sin to go to a bowling alley. Don't take my word for it ask your local NTCC pastor. Watch him duck and dodge your questions. You better throw out your entire music collection also if you want to attend their church, unless it is southern gospel christian music. The NTCC doesn't like Black Gospel music either. They have more rules than Micheal Jordon has tennis shoes. Check out this website.

Ratings_icons Very Negative experience!

david h.

A very controlling church! There are much better alternatives out there for you and your family. Yes, they will be very friendly to you at first, and welcome you in, and pretend that they genuinely care for you, but this is all a front in order to win you in, and little by little they will begin to micro manage your life. Your better off not even attending a church then to get caught up in this mess.... I know I spent 13 years, and it ruined my life.

Ratings_icons Good Members, Lack of financial transparency

Ms N.

A church full of mostly good and honorable people, but no financial accountability of its leadership. This makes it a more like a corporation and less like church, therefore credibility becomes questionable.

The Word of God is preached, here for the most part. However, be sure to study the Bible for yourself and allow God's will to work in your life.

This is a cult. Some key phrases are to come as you are and be yourself. God loves you. Then they spend every future moment with you manipulating your life in Jesus name and unsuccessfully backing up what they do with scripture.
If you really and truly read your bible and pray like they say to do...God will lead you away from them.

I've been attending this church since 1993. I've found the Bible-based preaching & teaching to be very edifying. My mom has just started to attend with me and she's loving it.

Ratings_icons Check it out yourself.

Mr W.

I have been saved by Jesus Christ for a while. I am no expert on cults or anything, but I know the presence of God. I have felt God's presence here. The word of God is preached. God himself is bigger than any church or organization on this planet. He is real. He is alive. He can make anyone who trusts in him complete. This I know for sure. I was a Christian long before attending this church. Since I will answer to God for only one person(myself), I endeavor to be carefull about what I say about other people and churches. If you have been invited to this church, I encourage you to check it out for yourself. No matter what church you decide to attend please keep one thing in mind. Trust in God through Jesus Christ his son and expect him to love you according to his word. (Jn 3:16) God bless you.

This isn't a church--it's a cult. Do yourself a favor and don't let them get their moneygrubbing hooks in you. The prime function of their local churces is to suck people into their unaccredited "seminary," where every aspect of the students' lives is rigidly controlled. Want to visit friends? Permission is required. Want to court a girl? Talking is not allowed without approval.

"Rev." RW Davis, the man who founded this mess, is a narcissistic manipulator who bailed from his last denomination under a cloud of suspicion for sexual misconduct, according to those who were there. He and his cronies live in palatial splendor, while those they've suckered struggle to survive.
