It's been a few years since I worked with this company. And I'm a little embarrassed to admit I'm still bitter - but I am. My office was also the Lynnwood office - a gal by the name of Julie Zimmerman. She got me several interviews right away, I got myself a few offers, and chose (what I thought to be) the best job. I did my job extremely well, always exceeding what was required of me, I got along great with everyone in the company - making friends with everyone... except my direct manager. She'd been there over a year and hadn't connected with anyone. Thus, she made life miserable for me - until ultimately, after just shy of my 6 month mark, I was "let go" with 1 months pay.
When I returned to Business Careers, they sent me right out on another interview. The interviewer loved me, told me to expect a call with a job offer. But that never came. When I called to ask Julie, she told me she'd spoken to my former manager who had bad mouthed me to the point that Julie no longer wanted to work with me. She told me I also wouldn' t be hearing from my potential job, b/c of the things my former manager had said - and b/c I had worn shoes that showed (the tip of) my big toe; although she didn't mention it when I went to see her on my way to the interview, she (Julie) now said she thought that to be in poor taste. I was so humiliated and stunned. I tried to explain that I'd NEVER been let go etc... she wanted nothing to do with me. I should have sued. I called the persepective employer and she told me she WANTED to hire me, but was told by Julie she couldn't. Wow. I later learned that my former manager had multiple complaints, and had been fired within 2 mos of my leaving. Within, 8 mos. the company went bankrupt. I can't say I didn't smile an evil little smile upon hearing that.
So! The looong winded moral to the story is. They will drop you in a heartbeat....
STAY AWAY if you can.

Of course searching for a job is a difficult task. With 10 years in professional sales, and a business degree from the UW I feel well suited for many employers needing my skills. I spoke with two different locations of Business Careers to find the following. 1) It is essentially a ??cattle call? 2) The people that they have working there are unprofessional, ignorant, and untruthful. 3) I would never recommend any person take their time to meet with or talk to any of the staff or employees there. I was told that the ads they run are not current. That they are required to meet with as many people as they can, whether they have job for them or not, and that the company has closed two offices in the past year because they were failing. Based on what I saw in the two I visited, it is clear to my why they failed. TOTAL WASTE OF TIME AND PARKING MONEY! Steer clear from them!

Hopefully I have caught you before you have agreed to work with Business Careers and Kary York in Lynn wood, WA. Think hard about your decision to accept or reject a position with Business Careers.
Business Careers, as a company, is one of the least healthy companies you could join. This company is molded after true capitalism at its worst (but don?t get me wrong, I love capitalism, its in my veins!). This company exploits employees to such an extent that is beyond belief. The company operates on shameful principles,
Kary York, Manager in Lynn wood (MS). Now she?s a piece of work. She is the most shallow, callous, self absorbed, belittling, deceptive, know-it-all, non-compassionate, self centered, and soulless person I have ever encountered. I am ashamed to write this about a fellow human being, but I write this with hope of what foreshadows a potential new recruiter. You will be forced to listen to her never ending stories about her, how good she is, how much money she ?supposedly? makes, her endless stream of guys, and her daily ski stories. If you have read this far, lets make a bet. Did she tell you that she makes $250,000.00 per year to convince you to become a recruiter? Chances are, she did. If you do end up joining Business Careers you will find that almost everyone she interviews she tries to get that person to be a recruiter. It is at least one of the funniest things to see, and at most, something to be ashamed of. If you are intent on being a recruiter with Business Careers, I implore you to contact another office and not work in Lynn wood. Kary York is, without question, the worst person I have EVER encountered in my life.
If you are set on becoming a recruiter you should look at other recruiting companies that are more reputable. Check out websites to help you find other alternatives.

I feel Bad foranyone who came to business careers and met the recruiter who complained in the first listing. Obviously she wasn't very good. I say this for a few reasons. This job pays way to well, six figures plus when you are good at what you do.
As far as the comment about some candidates not getting, helped, well thats the world we live in. People come there with no experience or with a hope and dream that we can change their career.
Unfortunatley we don't have magic wands, but if we did, we would be making seven figures instead of six.

This girl or guy that wrote this will be a nightmare for any employer. Its your typical person who does not understand that people don't just give you money for no reason. You kinda have to earn it.

Keep washing those dishes pal!!!

I have received the best service at Business Careers in Lynnwood, WA. My agent Andre Taylor was very knowledgeable, professional, and insightful. He was a real pleasure to work with. Thanks to his most efficient skills, I am in a rewarding, exciting, and prosperous career.

I actually worked for this company. . . and it is BAD. The one in Lynnwood is the worst - that's where I worked for Kary York. This woman is one of the most horrible individuals I have ever met. She is quite opportunistic and tries to train her employees to be the same way.

The reason you wait so long in the lobby is because the employees are trained to pack in as many things as possible. Kary also says this is to keep control of your candidates.

Employees are expected to have many candidates come through the door and the rule is employees are supposed to keep less than three out of ten and use the rest for information. I think this is reprehensible. Candidates looking, NEEDING a job travel from all over the place because they think Business Careers can help them. Candidates get all dressed up, press their clothes and, in the case of Bellevue and Seattle locations, pay around $12 for parking, print out their resume, only to come to Business Careers and spend more time in their 1970's lobby than in front of a recruiter who is supposed to help them. NOT use them for information and toss them out the door never to call the candidates again.

Also, they treat their employees like poo and don't pay them well and their benefits are beyond awful!
There is a report of them up on Ripoffreport(dot)com.
