Message from Le Panier
A touch of Paris in the market
- Classic baguettes
- Traditional French patisseries
- Delectable sandwiches
At Le Panier, our pastries are baked fresh each morning, including baguettes, butter croissants, palmiers, friands, and sables with chocolate and hazelnuts.
Our French patisseries include napoleon, éclair au chocolat and tartes aux fruits.
Sandwiches are available, from brie to jambon beurre to roast beef, made with fresh baguettes.
Boulanger and co-owner Thierry Mougin, born in France and trained as a baker beginning at age 14, sets the standard high by maintaining the French ideals for bread and pastry. The aroma of butter and freshly-baking bread lures Market regulars and visitors. Caffé Umbria is served to accompany your warm almond croissant or slice of apricot tarte. For the holidays choose from Bûche de Noël, small cookies packed for gift-giving, and the Galette des Rois.

Yummy!
I loved their pastries and coffee. The stuff was very nice.
The best part was that there was enough room to park my double stroller in the store!!! I would go back again for sure.

a "Very French" bakery
Le Panier is a French-style bakery in Seattle where you can get some very good bread. They have some specialties like 'pain aux noix' which is bread with walnuts in it, and multi-grain French bread, etc. They bake their breads every day, so you can always get fresh bread, too. The location is right downtown.

Mmmmmmm
Yes, this place is a definite must try. I have never found it too busy, at least it is worth any wait. You can get out cheap too - stop in for a break from the Market tourist crowds!

French Bakery, Pastries and Coffee
A little piece of France right in the middle of Pike Place! Baked goods and pastries are phenomanal. Try the sandwiches on fresh backed baguette with delicious choices like Pate or Brie cheese.
If you like coffee - this is the BEST! The espresso drinks are by far the best I've had anywhere ever. Try a cafe au lait. It's tres magnifique!
A little bit busy on weekends, it's a small little place, so you might have to wade through the crowd a little.
PROS: Quality
CONS: crowded

Unsanitary
I used to visit this bakery about once every week or so. I would buy a loaf of bread and indulge in an almond croissant. However, recently when I went in, I saw one of the employees drop a loaf of bread on the floor, and then put it back on the shelf! I could not believe my eyes, but I figured this an isolated incident. However, when I told the employee ringing me up (this time I only bought a latte...you can't drop that on the floor!), the employee said that he couldn't say anything to the woman who dropped the bread, saying that she was a manager, and that putting the bread back was a policy. This is ridiculous! I expect my food to be clean before I buy it. I will no longer be a patron of Le Panier bakery.

Amazing bread
I just tucked into a bit of the campagne loaf and have to say it's one of the best loaves of bread I've ever had. It's moist, and chewy and the crust it perfectly browned and crunchy. Absolutely worth every penny!

awesome
i went in a couple months ago just to see what they offer.... OH MY GOODNESS!!! i got some assorted petit fours, and they were perfectly exquisite and just delicious!!! their french macaroons are out of this world! i cant wait to make a trip to pike place just for some more petit fours!
Pros: outstanding overall
Cons: sometimes hard to find parking at pike place..

Try the mini palmiers
I am seriously addicted to the mini palmiers. They come in a clear cellophane bag tied with a colorful ribbon. Most (mammoth-sized) palmiers at other bakeries lack the crunch that these have ... almost like candy. So basically, it's a buttery and flaky cookie that crunches like candy. You'll just have to try it. I don't even work downtown but I make the trip to buy these. They are to die for.
Pros: it smells heavenly (just like a bakery should)
Cons: parking is a major challenge

This bread is the staff of life........
I know great bread when I taste it and I'll walk several miles to get it. Try one of Le Panier's sandwiches for lunch - I recommend the Roast Beef or Turkey...to die for and a great bargain at apprx $5.00. I'm here every weekend.
Pros: Quality of baked goods...best bread in town.
Cons: Tough to find parking at Pike St Market
